Forge World has quietly faded away as Games Workshop re-branded it into something entirely
0:04
different. This change marks the end of an era for many hobbyists and collectors
0:09
Forge World has long been renowned for producing highly detailed and specialized models
0:14
holding a special place in the hearts of Warhammer players worldwide. The process of integrating Forge World into the main Games Workshop brand has been gradual
0:23
In 2020, Games Workshop began focusing more on Horus Heresy Age of Darkness
0:28
hinting at upcoming changes. By 2021, the company had built a new warehouse under the
0:33
Games Workshop banner, signaling a step towards absorbing Forge World back into the main company
0:39
In 2022, the re-branding of Horus Heresy resin products became more apparent
0:44
Packaging, product listings, and marketing copy began referring to these items simply
0:49
as detailed resin pieces, moving away from the Forge World branding. The most significant change came in 2023 with the launch of the new Warhammer website
0:59
This new site combines Games Workshop and Forge World products into a single platform
1:04
Notably, the term Forge World has been completely removed from product listings
1:09
Instead, these items are now referred to as 15-plus expert kits. Games Workshop has confirmed this re-branding in an FAQ released after the new website launch
1:20
The iconic Forge World branding, including the distinctive cog skull logo, has been replaced with simple expert product labeling on packaging
1:29
The re-branding to expert kits suggests a focus on the high level of skill and detail
1:35
associated with these products, which is understandable. For longtime fans, this change may be bittersweet. However
1:42
it represents Games Workshop's effort to create a more unified brand experience
1:47
The company aims to provide a one-stop online shop for all Warhammer products
1:53
including miniatures, rules, paints, and even black library novels. The time of Forge World may have ended, but the age of expert kits has just begun
2:03
This transition reflects the evolving nature of the hobby and Games Workshop's vision for its future
