A handgun pulled from a New Jersey lake
0:02
has left detectives with a mystery. How
0:04
did it get there and why? Two people
0:07
magnet fishing at Grenloch Lake in
0:09
Washington Township made the discovery
0:11
on Monday. They were searching the
0:13
bottom with powerful magnets attached to
0:15
ropes when they hauled up a
0:16
semi-automatic pistol. The pair
0:18
immediately called police. Officer Eddie
0:21
Apell responded and the weapon was
0:23
recovered as evidence. Police identified
0:25
it as a Walther PPS, a model first
0:28
introduced in 2007. It showed signs of
0:31
prolonged exposure to water. Could
0:33
someone have used it in a crime and
0:34
dumped it? That remains an unanswered
0:36
question and the gun will now undergo a
0:39
forensic examination. Washington
0:41
Township detectives are investigating
0:43
how the gun ended up underwater. For the
