My DIL Threw My Hand Knitted Blanket in the Trash at Her Baby Shower and the Whole Room

At my daughter-in-law's baby shower she held my hand-knitted blanket out over the trash can, looked into her friend's camera and said, We only use designer things here. Eighty guests laughed. My son stood against the wall with a beer in his hand, opened his mouth, and closed it again. I took my blanket back out of the garbage, folded it into my purse, thanked her for the invitation and drove home without raising my voice one time. What nobody in that room knew was what my husband spent twenty years sewing into the lining of that blanket before he died in February, and why I waited until the baby was two weeks old to open the seam in front of every single one of them.
