The Bible is replete with stories that demonstrate God's power, many of which involve miraculous events at sea or involving water. Here are seven notable miraculous events related to seas or bodies of water in the Bible: Visit: https://scripturalthinking.com or subscribe my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@scripturalthinking Parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14): This is one of the most famous miracles in the Bible. Moses, leading the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery, reaches the Red Sea. With an Egyptian army in pursuit, God instructs Moses to stretch out his staff over the sea, which then parts, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground. The waters return to their place when the Egyptians follow, drowning them and thus saving the Israelites. Jonah and the Great Fish (Jonah 1-2): Jonah is swallowed by a great fish (often depicted as a whale) after he tries to flee from God's command to go to Nineveh and preach against its wickedness. Jonah spends three days and nights in the belly of the fish before being vomited out onto dry land, after which he goes to Nineveh to fulfill God's command. Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35-41): While Jesus and his disciples are crossing the Sea of Galilee in a boat, a fierce storm arises, threatening their lives. Jesus, asleep on the boat, is woken by his disciples. He rebukes the wind and says to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" The wind ceases, and there is a great calm, demonstrating His power over nature. Jesus Walks on Water (Matthew 14:22-33): In another display of His dominion over the natural world, Jesus walks on the surface of the Sea of Galilee to reach His disciples' boat, which had been caught in a storm. Peter attempts to walk towards Jesus on the water but begins to sink due to his lack of faith. Jesus saves him, and they both return to the boat, calming the storm. Peter's Fishing Miracle (Luke 5:1-11): At Jesus's command, Peter catches a miraculous amount of fish in the Sea of Galilee, leading to a profound recognition of Jesus's divine authority. Jesus' Second Miraculous Catch of Fish (John 21:1-14): After His resurrection, Jesus appears to some of His disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. He tells them where to cast their nets, resulting in a huge catch of 153 large fish, symbolizing His continued provision and presence. Paul's Shipwreck (Acts 27): This event, while not a miracle of altering nature, demonstrates divine intervention and protection. Paul, en route to Rome as a prisoner, is shipwrecked in the Mediterranean Sea. Despite the violent storm and the ship breaking apart, all aboard are brought safely to land on the island of Malta, as Paul had assured them, guided by an angelic message from God.
