Hey guys, Prepared Wanderer
0:23
Welcome back to the channel. And this is going to be the kickoff of a new series
0:28
So of course the title of this video has enticed you to click on it and to view it
0:35
And what I'm going to do today is I'm going to explain this video series because this is really kind of a new concept for me and for this channel
0:44
And things are going to be changing a little bit here for 2022
0:48
And so the name of the series is the Prepared Citizen Minute Man Project
0:54
And what that means is there's been kind of a mindset change in me and things that
1:02
I'm interested in and things I'm thinking about. And a lot of it has definitely been spurred by a lot of what's going on in the world today
1:15
We have a new administration in the United States. There is the pandemic that keeps coming back and rearing its ugly head
1:25
We have shortages of supplies and goods and services in the United States
1:33
People are not going back to their jobs. There's just all kinds of craziness in the world right now
1:39
And that has really got me thinking. And if you follow the channel, you probably know that really the brunt of the videos that
1:51
I've made in these past years have been really focused on wilderness survival, bushcraft
1:59
and the gear that goes into all of that. And very little with preparedness or being ready for what I would consider a really large
2:10
scale disaster or uprising or whatever you want to call it event in the United States
2:19
or in the world. And so that focus that I've always been on with wilderness survival really came from
2:27
my involvement with search and rescue for many years and just my love of camping and
2:32
hiking and backpacking and just being an outdoors person. Of course, that all went hand in hand
2:39
As I was gaining knowledge and skills, bushcraft became very interesting to me
2:43
And that's something I pursued and spent a lot of time watching videos, reading books
2:49
going to classes, hanging out with other like-minded people who were into bushcrafting and survival
2:56
skills and wilderness skills. And that's stuff that I've been building up and accumulating in my mind
3:05
I feel like I've kind of reached not the pinnacle, that's for sure
3:09
You never stop learning and there's many things that I could be better at and that I could
3:13
keep practicing and learning, and I plan to do that. But nowadays, my focus is the safety and the well-being of myself and of my loved ones
3:26
and my friends and what we're going to do when something happens that is out of our control
3:33
And that's what this series is really about. And this series is going to be a journey that you guys are going to come along with me and
3:41
you're going to see exactly what I'm thinking and the choices that I'm going to make about
3:48
gear, equipment, mindset, tactics, all of that when it comes to preparedness
3:56
And preparedness, of course, you know, I'm kind of, maybe I'm dancing around the subject
4:00
a little bit because it's a very touchy subject for a lot of people
4:06
A lot of people don't understand it, they find it controversial. So let me lay out a typical scenario that I think is very possible that could happen
4:16
So as we've seen in the past, large natural disasters have shut down whole regions or
4:26
states here in the United States and caused mass havoc, loss of life, and just, you know
4:36
a huge problem for responders to help out. And then, of course, you know, Katrina was the big one that I think was an eye-opener
4:44
for a lot of people. So Katrina shut down that portion of the United States and left a lot of people injured and dead
4:55
And the U.S. government and local state authorities and law enforcement were not able to respond
5:06
as well as they should. And a lot of people had to take care of themselves and, of course, a lot of volunteers had to
5:14
help out to get that situation back on track. And those kind of things could happen again and maybe it may not be a natural disaster
5:23
It could be something like a chemical attack here in the United States, a terrorist attack
5:30
of some sort that could shut down your area that you live in, and now you're stuck where
5:37
you're at. Of course, you're sheltering in place, you're waiting for help
5:42
Help may never come. You know, the police, the fire, EMS, even National Guard may be so overwhelmed taking
5:51
care of other things that they may not be able to help you
5:55
So what happens when those kind of situations occur? Well, that's when the wolves come out
6:01
And you know, there are a lot of people in the United States that are very bad and are
6:10
intent on harming you, taking what is yours, and taking care of themselves
6:19
And they don't care what's going to happen to you or your family
6:23
And if you're in the way, you will get hurt. And so what are you going to do if there's no one that's going to protect you
6:29
Well, that's where being a prepared citizen comes into play. And that's where the mindset shift for me has happened
6:36
It's like I need to be ready, prepared, and trained to handle these situations because
6:43
I have no idea what's going to happen. And I'm not predicting the future. I have no crystal ball I can tell you what's going to happen here in the future in the
6:49
United States or elsewhere in the world. But things are definitely getting weird
6:55
And it's just, it's a strange time. And it's time for me and for this channel to maybe start helping others prepare for
7:07
these situations. Because like most of you who view this channel, I don't have tons of tactical military style
7:19
training in my background. I'm not former military. I don't have a lot of tactical shooting practice in that regard
7:29
I mean, I grew up hunting and fishing and doing those sorts of things as a young man
7:37
But the whole tactical aspect is very new to me. So as I go through this journey with you guys, I'm going to show you what I'm going to be
7:45
learning, what I'm going to be studying, the gear choices that I'm making, the weapons
7:51
choices, personal protection, the differences of things that I'm learning. Like what's the difference between bug out
8:00
What's the difference between getting home? What are the differences between never coming home
8:06
Shelter in place. These are all terminology and words and buzzwords that are thrown around all over the internet
8:17
Tons of videos on these theories and aspects. And it gets confusing
8:24
And I certainly am there, right there with you on being confused on stuff
8:30
You know, in a very short amount of time, I've done a lot of reading and studying of
8:37
sources of information, trying just to figure out to get where I am at here with this stuff
8:43
And this is just a very small portion of what we're going to be talking about
8:47
And some of these choices that you're looking at right now that are around me, they may
8:51
completely change. Because as we go through this video series together, hopefully, I will be adjusting and
8:59
changing things as I learn how to do stuff. So, it is going to be a video series
9:06
And what that means is there are going to be different videos that I'm going to be trying
9:12
to produce on a regular cadence. I don't think they'll be weekly
9:16
I'll probably be doing other types of videos in between gear reviews and some outdoor skill
9:21
stuff like I normally do, but interspersing that with this prepared citizen series
9:30
And this is the first video on that. This is the introduction. So, we're not going to get too in-depth on hardly anything
9:36
This is really just an explanation of what I'm thinking and what I'm doing
9:41
And hopefully, you guys are behind that, support that, will come back and keep viewing future videos
9:49
A natural order that makes sense and that progresses. So, the very next video that I think we're going to probably be doing is the concept
10:00
of getting home. Because that's really kind of the first thing that is going to happen in potentially a large-scale
10:10
natural or unnatural disaster type event. You know, you're going to not necessarily be at home
10:18
You probably will be at work or at school or wherever you may be that you're away from
10:24
your home. And you know, not everybody has a fully stocked bug-out vehicle
10:32
You're not going to have tons of weapons and gear in your truck or your car
10:36
So you need to get home from that wherever you're at and back to your base of operations
10:42
and grabbing your stuff from there. So how do you get home
10:46
What kind of equipment are you going to be taking with you? Now I've done videos in the past about get-home bags that I've put together and my mindset
10:55
has been completely changed on a lot of that. I have a very different philosophy now and I'm going to try to share that with you on
11:05
that next video. From there, we're really going to be discussing then what happens after you get home
11:13
You've made it safe. Your gear is all around you. You have your stuff prepared and ready to go
11:20
Well now you need to load up and you need to get out of Dodge. And that's a whole other concept that needs to be explored
11:27
So what kind of gear are you going to have? What kind of weapons are you going to take
11:34
Where are you going to go? And then once you get there, what are some of the things that you're going to have to accomplish
11:40
Are you going to be doing patrolling, reconnaissance? What kind of tactics are you going to have to employ to make you and your family safe
11:55
And then of course from there, there are more long-term scenarios that we need to talk about
12:03
How long can you be out and away from your home? What kind of gear do you need for that
12:08
That's a whole different set of stuff. You know, tents, sleeping bags, water, food, water purification, of course security
12:20
All these things all come into play. And we're going to progress through those subjects piece by piece and really talk about
12:32
the gear, the equipment that I've chosen, that I'm thinking about. Hopefully intersperse some training that's going to go along with this
12:43
You know, things that I'm seeing of course are going to be shooting training, tactical
12:49
medicine, survival, food procurement, water procurement, you know, long-term camping type situations
13:02
What do you do in those situations? Where do you go? How do you sustain yourself
13:06
How do you come together as a group or as an individual and survive
13:14
Because that's really the whole goal of this is to get out of that situation that we've
13:20
been plunged into and hopefully come out of it on the other side
13:25
Because I want to say right now that I do not look forward to any of this stuff happening
13:33
I don't want it to happen and I pray that it doesn't happen in my lifetime
13:37
I pray it doesn't happen in my children's lifetime or my grandchildren's lifetime
13:41
I don't want these kind of events to happen. I'm very happy and comfortable with my cable TV, my internet, and my air conditioning
13:52
Those are all wonderful things. We're very blessed here in the United States to have such a wonderful way of life and I
13:59
want to preserve that and I want to continue doing that. But the reality is we don't know what's going to happen and just like life insurance and
14:09
spare tires, you need to have these things ready to go in case something goes bad
14:16
And that's really what this is about. It's just taking all those skills and things that we've always talked about in other videos
14:22
in the past and applying them into a more specific and what I think is probably a more
14:30
realistic situation. Because really frankly, the idea of myself getting into a wilderness survival situation
14:39
is pretty low unless I'm traveling out west, going on a hunting trip or a backpacking trip
14:46
or something. Then maybe. And for most people, we don't really venture that far out into the wild that we need to
14:54
have all this gear and equipment and skills. They're good to have, don't get me wrong
15:02
But I think in this day and age, this modern world we're in, taking some of those field
15:08
craft skills that we've been learning and then applying them into more of a tactical
15:16
situation really makes sense right now. And it makes sense for me and it's what I'm interested in and I want to share that with
15:23
you guys. And hopefully, you guys will stick around for it. I know there may be some people who are like maybe not digging this, but stick around and
15:35
see what you think. It may not be what you think. I am not going to be covering in depth weapons
15:47
I'm not a weapons expert. I don't even consider myself really a big gun guy
15:53
I love guns, I love shooting, but I'm not in depth into them so much that I know every
16:02
statistic about weapons and have tons and tons of training with them
16:08
So to me, they're a tool. So I'm going to show them, I'm going to talk about them, what I know, and that's it
16:15
I'm definitely not going to try to tell you guys stuff that I don't know and try to present
16:22
myself as something that I am not. This is definitely from an amateur's perspective and point of view and that's what we're going
16:33
to present this as. It'll never be anything more than that. So rambled on long enough, you know, hopefully seeing this stuff out on the table and me
16:46
talking about this has kind of whet your appetite for this series. I think it's going to be pretty cool
16:51
I think there's a lot of different ways this thing can go. I think it's going to evolve
16:55
Hopefully I can bring in some other people, people who are close to me, who are in my
17:00
tribe who have some knowledge and skills that I don't have and they can share those with
17:07
you as well. I really want this thing to become big. I want this to become something that a lot of people view and utilize because I think
17:19
there's just a ton of people out there who are just like me who just don't know what
17:27
they don't know. They're trying to figure this all out and they want to do the right thing
17:32
They don't necessarily have all the experience and the training that some other folks do
17:38
but they still feel that they have the right and the privilege here in the United States
17:45
to exercise that and to be prepared. Being a prepared wanderer is what the channel is all about and this is just a part of it
17:55
So we're going to be prepared citizens. So stick around for future videos
18:01
I really look forward to getting into this with you. I really want good comments down below
18:07
I enjoy those. If you've got knowledge, share it. Help other people out
18:14
Hopefully we'll all get through this together and come out on the other side and there'll
18:18
be no problems, but in case, maybe we're just a little bit more ready
18:24
Alright, thanks for watching. Stick around for new videos coming out here shortly
18:30
As always, I appreciate you guys watching my channel. Check out the Facebook group
