need to get your gear organized. We're
0:02
going to be taking a look at a new
0:04
Maxedition pouch called the Beefy and
0:06
why I think it's a great organizer.

Stick around.

0:18
For years, I have used Maxition products
0:20
and I think I started using them when
0:23
they first started. I' they've been
0:24
around for quite a while and I've had a
0:27
lot of their stuff and I still use a lot
0:29
of their stuff. And in fact, one of my
0:31
favorite products is their organizer
0:33
pouches. This is the Fatty. Uh this is
0:37
my dedicated possibles pouch. Has all my
0:41
kind of survival items in it that um I
0:44
throw in a backpack. But it really does
0:46
a great job of organizing the gear that
0:48
I have um and helping me find it and
0:51
keeping all those small loose things
0:54
that get lost in a backpack in a
0:56
convenient grab and go pouch. And
1:01
Maxition came out with a new one called
1:04
the Beefy. And this thing is beefy. It
1:07
is a big pouch. Now what I've done with
1:10
mine is I've set mine up as a dedicated
1:13
first aid trout pouch. and I think it's
1:15
a great option. So, I'm going to show
1:17
you what exactly is in mine. So, here
1:20
are the two pouches next to each other.
1:22
We've got the Fatty and the Be the new
1:23
Beefy. And you can tell there is a big
1:26
difference in size. Uh taller.
1:30
It is thicker and wider,
1:33
so a lot more volume. But I've gone over
1:36
this pouch um in past videos and shown
1:39
how I have it set up as a Postals pouch.
1:41
But what I want to show you today is the
1:43
new Beefy
1:45
and how it is uh a perfect size for a
1:50
first aid kit, trauma kit, IFAC. Uh I
1:54
think it fills that role pretty well and
1:56
I was really surprised at how easily I
1:59
was able to get my gear in it and keep
2:01
things organized. So, on the outside of
2:04
the Max Expedition pouch, of course, we
2:06
have a Velcro field, and that allows me
2:09
to add my first aid cross patch, so
2:12
people know exactly what this is. There
2:14
is a very heavyduty mesh pocket on the
2:18
outside. And what I like about this mesh
2:20
is um it is not going to snag or tear uh
2:23
like the cheaper mesh uh that you see in
2:26
a lot of cheap pouches. This thing is
2:28
heavy duty, but it does have a Velcro
2:30
closure, so it keeps the contents
2:32
secure. And in here, I've got my uh
2:35
gloves, uh nitro gloves to protect my
2:38
hands and protect uh anybody that I'm
2:41
actually working on in a first aid
2:43
situation. Then we have nice uh beefy
2:47
YKK zippers with paracord zipper pulls.
2:52
On the back there is a Molly Rose panel.
2:57
Uh so you can attach this to a larger
3:00
backpack.
3:02
What I've done with mine is it's also a
3:04
perfect spot to put my shears and they
3:08
actually stay in there pretty well. And
3:09
then what I've done is I've taken this
3:12
Molly um
3:15
cat tourniquet pouch that I had and I
3:19
just attached that to the Molly panel
3:22
back here. And then that way I have my
3:24
tourniquet on the outside of my pouch.
3:26
It's easily uh identifiable and I can
3:30
get to it quickly and I don't have to
3:31
dig around inside of a bigger pouch to
3:34
get to it. So, this panel, even though
3:36
is designed for attaching to larger
3:39
packs, it is perfect for adding other
3:43
pouches and utensils and and instruments
3:46
to the back of it. Um, and you can
3:48
utilize it that way. So, you don't
3:49
always have to use things the way they
3:51
are intended. Sometimes you can do some
3:54
different stuff with it to make it more
3:55
versatile.
3:57
Going on the inside,
3:59
we unzip this. And what's great about
4:02
these pouches is how they open up
4:05
because they open up fully
4:08
and they're very accessible and they're
4:10
very easy to get into. And what's
4:14
fantastic about these style of pouches
4:17
is there's so much organization built
4:19
into them. Lots of elastic keepers. And
4:23
the elastic is not a cheap um elastic
4:28
that will lose its uh holding ability
4:30
after time. These things are very
4:33
wellmade. Top quality materials and the
4:37
elastic really allows you to organize
4:41
all that small stuff that sometimes gets
4:43
lost in first aid pouches. So, we have
4:48
one, two, three larger elastic
4:52
keepers back here. And then on sewn on
4:54
top of that are 1, 2, 3, four, five, six
4:58
smaller ones. And with first aid kits,
5:02
uh there are a lot of skinny uh small
5:05
items. So, here I've got a safety razor.
5:09
I've got uh the decompression needle. I
5:13
have an exam light.
5:16
I have a marker for marking skin. And
5:20
then I have a syringe for irrigation of
5:22
wounds.
5:24
Back here I have an airway tube. And
5:26
then I also have here
5:33
a suture with a circular needle on it.
5:38
And then you have this nice keeper. So
5:41
if you want to add something to that,
5:43
you can. But then also they've included
5:45
this para cord loop sewn in this corner.
5:48
And here I've got uh a couple different
5:51
uh rolls of medical tape tied to that so
5:55
I can get to it. And in the back we have
5:58
a very deep large pocket. And that is
6:02
perfect place to put
6:05
chest seals. I have a couple of those.
6:08
In the center of the pouch, there is a
6:10
nice large
6:12
piece of elastic. And this will fit a
6:14
lot of long items that are a little bit
6:17
thicker. Right now, I've got some roller
6:21
gauze.
6:22
I might put another one down here.
6:24
That'll give me uh two of those. And
6:27
then on this side,
6:29
the orientation of the elastic switches,
6:32
it now is running up and down. And then
6:34
I've got two uh compressed
6:37
gauze
6:39
packages there. I've got alcohol swabs
6:42
on the top smaller ones. And then I of
6:45
course have some quick cloth. Now this
6:47
is two large pieces of elastic on the
6:51
back. And then you have one, two, three,
6:52
four smaller ones on top. So
6:55
more options. Uh different sized items
6:59
can go in here. And then behind all that
7:04
there is a zipper pocket. You see that?
7:08
And in here I have gauze pads.
7:10
And then it closes up like that.
7:15
I would suggest, and this is something
7:17
I'm going to do to my kit here in the in
7:20
the future, is I would add just a little
7:23
bit of cordage to this zipper uh in a
7:26
bright color. So way you can see that
7:28
inside the pouch um because it does get
7:32
lost because it's black on black because
7:34
the interior of this pouch is black and
7:37
then you have the black zipper. So a
7:39
piece of red paracord or something like
7:41
that will help it stand out and then you
7:43
can get to things a little bit easier.
7:47
So, this kit does not cover every uh
7:51
aspect of first aid or trauma, but I
7:54
think it addresses some issues that I
7:56
would probably run into in my vehicle or
7:59
if I'm possibly at a gun range uh or
8:02
hunting or something like that. It
8:04
should have enough stuff in it that it
8:05
should be able to help me out in a in a
8:07
bad situation.
8:09
Now, the the Beefy comes in a variety of
8:12
colors. Uh this is the Wolf Gray.
8:16
And then, as you saw with the other
8:19
pouches I had, also comes in an OD
8:21
green, comes in a black, and then
8:23
there's also khaki, and then a foliage
8:26
gray color that kind of goes with the
8:28
old um ACU digital camo that the Army
8:31
used to use, but it's still it's a very
8:33
nice uh gray color that's great for kind
8:36
of urban environments. Uh, but I really
8:38
like the wolf gray. It looks fabulous.
8:41
It's a very cool color. nice neutral.
8:45
Doesn't really stand out, but it looks
8:48
sharp. And then on the outside of my
8:52
pouch, I have carabiner to the zipper. I
8:56
have a CPR mask. So, that's the last
8:59
piece of equipment in here. Now,
9:02
Maxition
9:03
uh makes these pouches in 1050 daer
9:07
nylon. Uh, like I said, genuine YKK
9:11
zippers and Duraflex hardware. So, all
9:14
top-notch
9:16
uh, components are used to make these.
9:19
Heavy duty carry handle at the top.
9:22
Probably noticed that. Of course, we got
9:24
the Molly webbing on the back.
9:27
Dimensions for the pouch are 8 in high,
9:30
6 in wide, and 2 and 1/2 in thick.
9:35
volume is about 1.9 L and that comes out
9:40
to 116 cubic inches.
9:42
Of course, you can get these uh through
9:44
Amazon. I will have my affiliate link
9:47
down below if you want to go there to
9:48
get it. Also, you can go to
9:49
maxedition.com
9:51
to look at more of the organizers. Uh in
9:55
fact, they make a lot of them. They make
9:56
a mini, a micro, a fatty, a skinny, a
9:59
chubby, a double-decker, and now the
10:02
beefy. So, there is a variety of sizes
10:05
of organizers that you can get. And
10:07
what's kind of cool about these, um, if
10:09
you get some different ones, get them in
10:12
different colors, and that way they they
10:14
kind of stand out as their own thing,
10:16
that helps you organize your gear within
10:18
your backpack or your travel bag. Uh,
10:21
you know, you have different colors
10:24
meaning different things to you, and
10:26
that'll help you find your stuff a
10:29
little bit easier. So, if you're into
10:32
bushcraft, survival prepping, uh,
10:35
emergency preparedness, you know that
10:37
MaxEdition makes some fantastic gear.
10:39
And I've been using their stuff since
10:41
the very beginning. I think they started
10:42
in like 2003. Um, everything that I've
10:46
ever had from Maxition just holds up.
10:49
Some stuff you will have for years and
10:52
it doesn't even show any signs of wear.
10:54
I mean, their stuff is just so
10:56
incredibly tough um and well-made and
10:59
welldesigned. Uh, as you can see with
11:02
this pouch, it's a fantastic organizing
11:04
pouch. Um, and I'm really glad I picked
11:07
up the Beefy. It's going to be um living
11:10
here in my vehicle so that when I'm on
11:12
job sites or I'm out hunting or hiking,
11:14
I have a uh dedicated first a kit that
11:18
is always available in my truck and I
11:21
can grab and go pretty easily. So, if
11:24
you're interested in learning more about
11:25
Maxpedition, go to maxedition.com. Like
11:27
I said, go to the Amazon affiliate link
11:29
down below. And as always, thank you so
11:31
much for watching and we will see you
11:33
next time on the Prepared Wanderer.
