Hey YouTube, Prepared Wanderer in the Prepared Wanderer man cave. And we're going to be looking at a sneak peek of the gear I'm going to be reviewing in 2018
0:40
So stick around. Alright, so in the past couple weeks I've been receiving some awesome gear
0:47
from some of the sponsors that I work with and also from just people that I've met
0:54
through the internet and through YouTube and Instagram and some collaboration stuff I've been doing on the back side of things
1:04
And I've really established a really nice base of stuff that I'm going to be going through in this next year
1:11
Now this is a small amount of stuff and it's going to go quick
1:15
So this is probably just the first sneak peek for 2018, maybe the first half of it
1:21
But there are tons of things that I want to accomplish this year
1:26
and this is just a portion of it. But what I thought I'd do is since this is really the last few days of the year for 2017
1:33
I'm just going to show you these things that I've been receiving and talk about them real quick
1:38
And then this will give you an idea of kind of stuff that's coming up next year
1:42
and you can kind of gauge what stuff you want to watch. So a great selection of gear, great people to work with
1:50
a lot of good companies that are made in the USA, small businesses in America that I love to support
1:59
and they've been really gracious enough to support me. So this is it, this is the gear, and we're going to go through it
2:07
Like I said, I've been really fortunate to receive most of this gear from sponsorship
2:14
and people who have asked me, hey, can you take a look at this gear and do a review for me
2:20
Tell me what you think. And it's always so surprising how nice people really are
2:26
and how much they support the channel and they appreciate what we do
2:30
Special thanks to Hellhound Outdoors for sending me his sample of this bow saw
2:36
I'll be talking more in depth about it later this year, but I just wanted to show you this thing to you guys and thank him for doing that
2:43
That was really nice of him to send that. He's been a viewer for a while now and he has a good channel out there
2:50
I like to watch his channel and he likes to watch mine, so it was really awesome that he sent me his saw so I could take a look at it
2:56
and give you guys my thoughts and opinions on this handmade bow saw
3:00
Let me take a closer look at that. The item that I'm really anxious to start reusing is this Hans Guevara hatchet
3:09
This is a really nice under $50 hatchet that I picked up on Amazon
3:14
I'm really excited about it. Great grain orientation. It's just going to be a useful tool to have
3:23
Another company or manufacturer I started working with is Tuff Possum Gear
3:29
Jay Barry has been really nice to send me some of his samples of his stuff, his pouches
3:35
I already did a review of his survival scarf, and I plan to work with more of that this year
3:40
but also now I have some of his pouches, so we'll be taking a closer look at those
3:45
You always can use pouches in an organization. Another great company that I was really blown away by sent me this, is Mountain Smith
3:55
They sent me their Mountain Shelter 2. This is a tarp tent, so I'm going to use this on my next trip
4:02
and I'm really excited to try it out. I think it's going to be awesome. I've been looking at these for a while, and they were super nice to send this to me free charge
4:11
Let me try it out and tell you guys what I think about it
4:15
Another continuing sponsor that I work with is Lost Wild Outdoors. Lost Wild is formerly a canteen shop, and they sell a lot of really nice high-end canteen gear
4:29
What I'm going to do is I put together a canteen kit based on their stainless steel Nalgene bottle they sell
4:38
their universal cup lid, the Ollicamp mug, and then of course the canteen stand that they make, or cup stand they make
4:53
I'm going to put this all, this all fits in this bag right here
4:57
and we're going to be doing a review of a bottle kit, and this is going to be it
5:02
Thanks to Lost Wild for sending this stuff. I also came with a really cool bottle grabber to hang the bottle in the fire
5:15
That's a cool item. Another thing I'm going to be working with this year are these two firebox stoves
5:21
I've done a review of the Nano, that was my first test burn on it, but I need to do more review of this
5:29
Then I'm going to put this up against the firebox, the big stove, and see how that performs
5:35
I think this is going to be really great for winter hiking and camping
5:40
This is going to be nice to put in my haversack and take for smaller trips
5:45
This year I plan to use these two stoves, either one of these exclusively, and really put them to the test
5:52
Looking forward to doing more work with firebox stuff. Last but not least, I've got some really awesome fire tin kits from Zombie Tinder, and a couple new tools from Zombie Tinder
6:07
These came through Lost Wild Outdoors, they sell these at Lost Wild, but you can also get them through Zombie Tinder
6:13
Both great companies, US made, and just really well thought out stuff
6:19
Check this thing out, this is the Zombie Tinder Super Socket Version 4
6:27
This is a bow drill socket, but also it has a hardened edge, so you can use this as a flint striker or a ferro rod striker
6:36
It's a multi-purpose tool, really well made, look forward to trying that thing out
6:42
Also their ferro rod, which is just a really unique design. I've not tried this thing too much yet, but it has a nice hardened striker right there, and then there's your ferro rod
6:58
The handle is magnesium, so if you want to scrape on the handle, you can
7:03
So a lot of fire is going to be made with these tools this year
7:08
And then along with the tools, they also sent me these awesome kits, which I just think are amazing
7:16
I'll do a little sneak peek here, look at these. This is the Bush Crafter Fire Kit
7:25
Look at all that stuff that comes with it. There's everything in here you need to do a bow drill fire, a flint and steel fire, or a traditional ferro rod fire
7:34
It's just incredible, all in this big heavy duty tin. And then their other one is the SAR tin, which also has the ferro rod striker in it that I just showed you, but it has more fire making materials
7:50
Look at that, jute twine, there's some cotton balls, they're soaked in Vaseline, and then of course there's zombie tinder eyeballs, which burn a long time
8:08
I've done reviews of these, these things are incredible. So thanks to those guys for sending that stuff to me
8:17
But yeah, this is going to be all the cool gear that I get to play with this year, and you guys get to watch
8:23
I just wanted to show it to you because I'm really excited about it, and it's going to be a fun year
8:30
Alright, so that's it, that's the stuff we're going to look at this year. And of course this is not all of it, this is just some of what I've gathered for the first part of 2018
8:39
There's going to be so much more gear to look at and review. And of course, getting outside and doing some trips, starting fires, making some food outside, messing with my cook kits, things like that
8:52
Always going to be outside doing stuff. This is just kind of a sneak peek of what's coming up and what you guys can look forward to from the Prepared Wanderer channel
9:02
So, as always, please like, subscribe, and share, and I'll see you next time on the Prepared Wanderer
