Years Pass, the Sins Remain
Sep 8, 2023
A poem for Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, about the need for faith and love:
Years pass, the sins remain;
One repents, each year the same;
More regrets, little change;
Knowledge waxes, knowledge wanes.
In faith and love one finds a shore,
Presuming less, needing more,
Perhaps more chastened, perhaps less sure,
Undone by beauty, sustained and pure:
Ready for change on Yom Kippur.
