Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) is a stalwart in the garden. These long lived flowering shrubs may not be the showiest plants, but they are incredibly easy to grow and very robust. They are so robust in fact that many times they outgrow their space in the garden and should be pruned back. In this video we demonstrate clearly step by step how to prune our Rose of Sharon in the spring time. These plants produce their flowers on new growth so this can really be done at any time, however I believe an early spring pruning is the optimal time as they will quickly regrow.
