How to Hybridize Amaryllis - Create Your Own Hippeastrum Cross! Complete Instruction

This was one of my favorite plant projects I have undertaken in recent memory. Amaryllis (Hippeastrum species) are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful flowers in the world. They also happen to be very easy to cross to make genetic hybrids. Simply by sharing the pollen from one flower type to another you can create a hybrid Amaryllis seed that is all your own. In this video I show you first how to cross pollinate two kinds of Amaryllis, then how to harvest the seeds, how to plant the seeds and finally transplant to prepare them for eventual flowers. This is a wonderful, yet easy project that gardeners of any skill level can successfully accomplish.
