about a mile into the wilderness. They

were told that an animal had become a

threat to the military compound in

dangerous bear. The platoon spread into

a skirmish line and advanced to the edge

yards away stood what appeared to be a

dark brown bear. The officer identified

it as the target as the soldiers raised

their weapons and the creature stood

upright. Jim immediately realized it was

not a bear. He described as
