I've probably never murdered someone. Well, I think, you know, I love the original film so much and wanted to get to kind of expand time with these characters

And especially the character Anne, who kind of understandably falls away a little bit in the film

And I just really think the great thing about TV and why TV is currently greater than movies is this length of eight episodes is just a wonderful amount of time to get to take your time and let people grow let characters grow a little bit and tell stories fully I kind of think if you look at the best TV of the year this year if you looking at Severance and White Lotus and stuff I feel like that stuff is better than movies

You'd be missing out on so much stuff if they had to pack it all in just 45 minutes

I know Erica Henningsen for a long time because she was the original Katie in Mean Girls Broadway

And she also was on Girls 5 Eva, where she played young Paul LaPille's character in Girls 5 Eva

But you, I mean, you met Erica for the first time. My first time meeting her. She is a delight

She's a delight. She is such a cool person. No notes. Hmm

What do you think? I mean, I think that, first of all, just the writing is fantastic

So, like, that makes your job really easy. But we just had a really good, open dialogue about, you know, just running stuff by each other

Yeah, and I think sometimes you can't really predict, but I do think we just have an ease with each other

I do feel like for whatever reason it feels plausible. And I guess if Kate is oftentimes pretty grouchy and maybe a little bit mean to Jack

and you have to have someone that you can like, that it's a pleasure to see me be mean to you

Yeah. And I think that's what happened. I'm good at being put upon

because I've practiced it all my life. You know, I'm not bitter about it

I'm not. Working on the show for me it did solidify that so much of being married and staying married is also having a great group of friends

Because you can't sort of put the pressure on your partner to be every single thing to you at every moment

And sometimes there's a thing in the winter episodes where, like, your character is really stressed about your dad's basement

And we're, like, fighting about, like, you want to keep all this, like, old stuff

And then when the other friends kind of tease us about it, it just kind of lightens

You know, sometimes you're like arguing with your spouse about something. And then when your other friends kind of make jokes about it, you remember like, oh, yeah, this is ridiculous

Like you kind of let go of what you were grouchy about. You know, going through these scripts and the different scenarios we'd be in, it was comforting because, you know, I love my wife

But, you know, every once in a while, you'll go through a weird time and reading about some of these scenarios felt familiar at times

And you're like, oh, there was some kind of comfort in knowing that, oh, this is a universal thing that people go through sometimes

Like we were talking about earlier with how our work relationship was, that's the same key

Just having an open dialogue, constantly going is the key to having a good relationship

You can excuse maybe one. Yeah. But then when it's like two or three of their closest friends they don't talk to anymore, I start to go, what's happening there

Also, if they're currently married to someone else, red fly. Blood under their fingernails

I think so. I feel like you lose some of your fear of failure in a way

because you inevitably eat shit on Saturday Night Live. Oh, yeah. Sorry, can you bleep that

Oh, yeah. Like, you know, you just, yeah, you always, you survive, like, having something go badly

so you kind of like, oh, well. It's not a self-esteem problem. I think they're all pretty pleased with themselves

And that goes for every step of the way. You know, being at the Groundlings

Yep. You know, that sets you up for getting used to failure on the SNL stage, which gets you set

You know, it's like every step of the way is preparing me for the next
