Survivor 48 Cast Reveal Their Favorite Moments in the Show's History

Hey everybody, before we get into this video, just want to give you a quick heads up because I know I certainly have gotten questions on some of these preseason videos as to why so and so is missing when I'm covering, you know, the answers from the entire cast to just to shed a little bit of light as to my process

There are some times during some interviews where we go off in certain directions on certain topics

I come in with questions that I want to ask, and just for one reason or another, those questions might not be asked by the time that our time is done

I will say for this video, which has the Survivor 48 cast talking about their favorite moment in Survivor history

there is one person who I was not able to get an answer from in our interview

That is David Kinney, who is a stuntman on this season. Well, he's a stuntman in real life, but also on this season

For what it's worth, if you check out my interview with David, which you should over at Parade.com

he does admit that he is not incredibly well versed in Survivor history

So if there is an answer, unfortunately, I wasn't able to get

It might have been, you know, the proper one to do so. But regardless, the next one that I should do should have everyone's answers contained therein

And we did get 17 out of 18 very interesting moments from Survivor History from this very interesting cast

Hope you all enjoy. What's your favorite moment in Survivor History? You know what

My favorite moment. Michelle, another amazing Jersey Girl winner. When she, I think it was Winners at War

Yes, it was Winners at War. and she was talking to Boston Rob about like her controversial win

And Rob was like, you won. He was like, if you win, you win

He was like, there isn't controversy. Like you won, you won. And that's it

And he kind of just like squashed it in the butt. And I was just like, I love that realness of Survivor

like him lifting her up and her sharing her vulnerability about her win, which is like you won

And like you're still being vulnerable while being like insecure about that

I mean there's a million amazing moments I love when Jeff like I love the banter between Jeff and

the tribes and like there's just so many good things but I love that moment and that like really

stuck out in me where it was like survivor not that my whole life I didn't know it was more than

a game but I was just like wow like there's some life lessons here well so I just immediately

thought of when uh I think it was Eric she sort of influenced him to give give me the necklace

give it to me it's not it out you feel bad for the guy but i mean it's like that's just the power

of like uh just having that genuine connection that i hope to have in this game but just to be

able to say give me this okay now goodbye yeah that was just amazing number one i'm sitting in

my spy shack like i say that to my husband all the time are you are you building a spy insert

noun here out here okay wouldn't you like to know we'll see yeah we'll see out there or maybe we

won't maybe you'll be disguised I definitely right I definitely have some something some tricks up my

sleeve um but yeah I mean Tony iconic that's an iconic moment another one that I think is just

like legendary like how did this even happen is the season where Brandon and coach made the whole

survivor tribe into like a cult the level of power you have to have to get all these people

on board to be like okay we're gonna pray before dinner okay we're all gonna like do this whatever

like that and i mean i come from you know a religious background like i'm i am spiritual

i have faith but that isn't i would never impose that like it's so wild to me that they built that

and people went along with it yeah it makes me realize like okay cults are real and people will

follow you it's all about the confidence like well I like I was saying I like the earlier seasons

even though I don't remember them but because Survivor was so new right and and now and and I

hate to say this I don't like super fans I don't think super fans make the game better I don't

think people practicing in their basement makes this game better I think I think coming out and

challenging yourself and and not knowing what to expect then knowing that puzzle is going to be on

here and I could do it with my eyes closed you know it's sort of cheating to me I don't know

Interesting. So would you have a favorite moment from like a modern season from a recent season that you saw

Not that I can think of I like all the moments I think they all really really I mean to me it taking 18 strangers It like it like an experience a weird scientific experiment that they take 18 people

strangers from all different places of the world and throw them on an Island and starve them to

death and make them do these challenges to earn food, to earn stuff and see what happens. And

nobody can predict what can happen. It's like putting 18 mice in a, in a cage, you know

and seeing who's going to be the lead mice, you know? So I don't know

It's just, it's, it's a great experiment. Yeah. I can't wait to see what happens. I think my favorite moment is kind of like a heartwarming one. Okay

And when Noel, who she had one leg and she had to go across a little balance beam

Oh my God. And she could not do it over and over, just kept falling off it. And she got so frustrated and you could just see it

And I just felt so bad. I really liked her. And I was like, oh my gosh, like she has to do it

Everyone else is way past that part of the challenge. They're all throwing their bags by now. And finally, she gets across that beam

She goes up. She throws her bags, like, one after another, lands all of them, and she won the challenge

Oh, my God. And it was just, like, the biggest comeback story, and it just showed, like, so much heart and grit and dedication that she didn't give up

And that's how I want to play is I want to be that person who doesn't give up. And, like, you're going to get knocked down, and I see that, and I'm like, she got up, and she had one leg to get up on, and she still did it

Like, I think she's so cool, and I want to be like her. oh another outstanding question

i would say one of the most poignant i would say the most powerful moment for me the outstanding moment okay so

i'm i'm tying it off between two of them really when it's both you can say both okay um

I really want to when it was heroes versus villains in that entire season I want to say that in the very beginning just the

man the the the combination of of just true hate for each other and this kind of villain versus

hero I had never seen something unfold almost so naturally yeah that was genuine between so many

different players and every time i watched there was another soap opera within that and that season

specifically because especially in the beginning some of those challenges i couldn't believe how

physically demanding they were they were breaking great tones exactly and and i thought wow and he

was going to be one of my top two also but that and then also a combination like that season is

pretty epic and then the gen x because because i i empathize with that yeah i'm i'm i've always

battled that old generation versus new generation and then to see it play out and go okay well let's

see have those discussions have it outright i thought that was i was it was intoxicating

it was intoxicating to me because it's a sensitive subject and then when you put it in an environment

like this it's perfect amount of drama with suspense and then adversity i mean there's just

so many good memories to to pick from and you know even just like on the show but even like off the

show mike like we had so many watch parties in college um we've had watch parties like almost

every wednesday night to be honest with you you know there's some nights where i'd be working and i'm like listen dad can i change the shift here because i gotta get home you know so we'll have

our luigi's pizza and we'll watch it as a family i think that's like kind of my favorite memory

even though it's every week but it's like a recurring aspect where like you know as a family we know we can sit down for an hour and a half and just like figure it out

about the world. Like, like let's tune in to see what Jeff does this week. Um

I mean, there are just like tiny stupid things that are coming to my head

Of course. Like Natalie Anderson, trying to like mock someone on that challenge where she like

I think Keith spat out or someone spat out and she spat it, like just came back and hit her on her chest

I feel like sometimes I could, that could kind of be me trying to be like, yes, look, I'm one of the boys too

And it's just like Camilla, you're five, one, your voice has not dropped

It just never dropped. It's still super high. You're not going to be one of the boys

Oh, my God. My favorite moment, I mean, going back to season 37

when they used their advantages together. Yeah, the whole, like, John Hennigan, minority vote split

Minority vote split. The Goliaths just sounded so confident. They thought they had this in the back

Dan had two idols. I mean, I also really like the Goliaths, too, like Alec and Dan and everyone

But the Davids just banded together. They trusted each other. And it was multiple idols

It was an idol nullifier. it was like a steal a vote and then it was just like

and I liked how I forgot the one guy he was like bing Carl like right

and I was like oh my gosh if I could be on the island

I would rally the Misfits together and we would join together and be like let take down these big guns because there some pretty big people here on the island right now So interesting Can I give you two Oh please There like two for very different reasons that come to mind

The first is, Keith is one of my favorite players. Oh, May Rest in Peace. Yeah, rest in peace. One of my favorite players

Him driving the tuk-tuk on the island is like one of my favorite things

Like that was one of the first seasons that we watched season one, then bounced around after I watched season 40

And that was like one of the first scenes that I can visually remember. And I was like, here's this guy, like, just with a complete group of people that he would have no business being around otherwise

excelling with them and connecting with them. And the Tuck Tuck scene just, like, tied that all together. And then the other one is just on Ben's season when Dr. Mike says, like, he has a ferocity that transcends this game

I think that is, like, one of the most underrated Survivor lines in the entire world

I mean, it's hilarious. That's, like, the very definition of a deep cut

I love it so much. No, don't apologize. Listen, you're not going to apologize to me for promoting a random quote from Survivor 35

There's mutual awe going on right now. There we go, there we go. Oh my god

Okay, yeah. Yes, this was wild. When Denise got Sandra out. Oh yeah

That was crazy. That was crazy. And then afterwards, when Sandra was offered the chance to stay and play the game

She was like, I'm good. Yeah. I don't have anything to prove

I am the queen. And I know my worth. And I'm going to leave this game for people, for my predecessors to pick up

Yeah. The whole thing was just crazy. I mean, like, Sandra had, I feel like, an uncharacteristic moment of weakness

in which she led with her heart rather than her head. And Denise just snuck in there and just decimated her

like that um yeah for for for Sandra to be so uncharacteristically emotional for Denise to

sneak in at the perfect moment and then for Sandra to just so gracefully accept defeat

yeah I think that was one of the best moments greatest moments on Survivor um man I'm gonna

give you two please um i think when kelly wentworth played her idol and she didn't go home

and it ended up sitting savage home uh one hell of a move there was crazy um and then enough their move that was honestly

Slee just like really heartbreaking to watch was in game changers when everyone played their eye

Those Eds to Reed went home. The idle give it, the idle take it away. I, um, from the first time she played, I left her

But watching her handle going out that way, like, wrecked me. and I'm like, I would have probably like had an emotional breakdown in that moment

Because she was playing such a good game like nobody did for her

Like, she like, oh my gosh, it was tough. What's my favorite moment

I'm so lame, but Drea, I don't want her to see this and be like

this girl's obsessed with me. But the moment when she was in Tribal Counselor and they did that Diablo Idol play

Although it wasn't like super sneaky or anything, it wasn't like out in your face flashy

It was very much it is what it is. Yeah. But it was the speech and the conversation that happened after that that was very impactful

And like Marianne didn't have to play her idol at all. No. And she did it as a symbol of like I stand with this too

Yeah. I can appreciate that. No, I think it was a really impactful moment for everyone involved obviously because then

you have like the Jonathan side of things, right? Because like I did not realize that this was a thing

And, like, that speaks power as well. And there's this idea of what's great about the new era

and I think the social politics involved, is that I do think it gives people more permission to be more open about that

Or as opposed to maybe seasons prior, it was something that had to be hidden. And I'm so glad you said the Jonathan piece

Because when he outright was like, I'm not racist, like, that's not what I'm saying. There's so many people who was watching the show that had that same thought

That he actually brought, it's like, you're being real. All of you guys are being real

You're putting the game aside for a second and just having a real ass conversation

Yeah. Yeah. I liked that. It's just a silly one. I mean silly ones are great We love the silly moments Yeah I mean Ozzy having the opportunity to bid on an item For 420 Yeah Yeah Ozzy being like 420 to the camera is an all time great moment

And then he's guzzling the soft serve right out of the machine. Yeah. It's awesome. That's an awesome moment in Survivor history

I think before I knew there was a fire challenge, this is a weird awesome moment

but the upside down you like before you knew that there was going to be a fire making challenge that

saved ben right the upside down you is an all-time greatest moment ever of just like uh oh here's the

dude who had it no one's had it closer than that and for all of it to just come crashing down that's

epic my favorite moment in survival history would be whenever chris won the fire after coming off of

I think it was Edge of Extinction. That's right, yeah, yeah. And he won. Like, that was crazy

Yeah. He made the fire. Like, that right there. And also, too, Season 46, now when Kenzie was going up against Liz

and she made that fire, that was actually pretty dope as well. And then the ending for Marianne when she won

and she was, like, telling everybody at the Tribal Council why she should be

that's right there. I felt that energy. I felt her because she's like, y'all don't know

I've been playing this game since day one. Yeah. So it's just moments like that, not even just from the new era

All of Survivor has changed. You don't get the same season. You don't get the same show

You don't get the same Jeff. Yeah. Jeff pulled out a pillow and got comfortable in season 46

Since when has he did that before? He gave out snacks. You don't even know what to expect

Survivor is always something new and fresh, and that's why I love the show, and I think it is honestly the best show

And I'm not just saying that because I'm on it now. I mean, it's good for me and representation, yeah

I told you I'm a movie TV connoisseur. Yeah. I know what I'm talking about

My most picky and favorite moment is Parvati Shallow direct to camera

I think probably her first on-screen interview showing up for a segregated season of Survivor and saying

is this kosher? Yes. One of the best opening confessables in Survivor history

That is camp. It is so good. It might be one of the first in the season, too

It is. It is. It is. it it's like it's certainly it's certainly early and you just immediately think to yourself like

you have more like charm and reality tv star prowess in those three words than like some

people get in a whole season right like that i just i live for is this kosher i like i use it

in my regular life probably a little bit differently applicable in your real life where you're just

going to a restaurant like was this kosher no i well no no i well i use it like in non in non

oh god in like slightly less relevant settings like yes yes you've caught you've clocked me as

being jewish but like i will i will use it in a scenario where it's more like we're doing something

but like is this kosher like is it is it kosher for us to go into the restaurant before everybody

else like what do we think you know it's just it's too good uh um i mean

when the black widow brigade takes the necklace from eric i know you were mentioning poverty

and amanda so i i didn't know if it was the kid you mentioned sari as well i love sari i love i

love literally here's my thing i love that women are winning in the new era i love that it's 4-2

right now yeah okay we're gonna even that up this season but it's gonna be another gay man so it's

like kind of the same do you know what i mean um yeah i really i think what's really cool about

that moment um on a couple different levels is that it had to it was obviously women coming

together which everyone's so scared of and then you look at like how many female alliances have

actually worked do you know what i mean yeah yeah like it's this like boogeyman that make

boogie woman that makes no sense but like i love that they came together and there was a newbie

involved yeah i love that natalie was a part of it i don't know i love that moment i think that's

probably my favorite season i don't know there are so many things no i mean the show is the best

it's a big one it's a good one and like you said it it's a crowning moment for a

mount rushmore alliance i also love when sophie clark won her season yeah i thought she really

deserved it she's probably like the player that i think i'm most similar to yeah out of everybody

um so i loved her win literally i was like watching that i think i don't remember if i was like

cooking bolognese or something i remember just like being like this doesn't take the w

i'm gonna lose my mind like she played so hard and so well but yeah probably parvin sophie
