Look at that
0:00
Absolutely beautiful carp caught on an amazing method. And if you wanna find out more, keep watching
0:05
But this is one you're not gonna wanna miss. There we go
0:19
Okay, so over Christmas, on Facebook, I put a little clip on of me fishing with Bomb and Corn
0:25
But we're doing it with a bit of a difference. We've been quite aggressive, loose feeding lots of corn
0:28
And a few of you asked me to do a longer video, more in depth, so I thought, let's do it
0:33
So we're here today at Makin's Fishery on Lake Free, exactly where we were on that little clip
0:38
But we're gonna go into a bit more detail. Now, this is a brilliant method for this time of year
0:42
We're in February now, but from February to sort of April time, this is fantastic
0:47
What it is, we're using Bomb and Corn, but we're doing it in a much more aggressive style
0:50
We want to use this method to actually have a big finish at the end of our session or match
0:55
We're trying to create something where in the last hour, or in the last 90 minutes, you get a run of fish
1:00
So I'm talking five to eight fish. You're giving yourself that match winning option
1:05
Granted, we could do that on the pole, but when there's a load of you in a line, sometimes you lose your edge
1:09
because everyone's fishing along the same line. With this, I can get a little bit further out
1:14
I'm really aggressive with the loose feeding. You can have some really good days. It's primarily a carp tactic
1:18
but if there's some big F1s as well, they'll definitely have a chew. So we're gonna get through multiple tins of corn
1:23
We'll show you that in a moment. This is a brilliant method. But the most important thing is we've got to build it up right
1:29
This method takes a lot of care and attention. We've got to loose feed it for a long time before it actually comes to fruition at the end of the day
1:35
So we've got to talk about what we're gonna do in the meantime. So without further ado, let's switch up
1:39
We'll swing around on the box and we'll show you how we're gonna start this method and how we're gonna feed it
1:43
to get the best from this corn method. Okay, so how are we gonna kick off this session and how are we gonna feed it
1:48
to make sure we get the best from this? Now we're faced with a nice sort of open lake today
1:52
which is perfect for this bomb and corn approach, what we're gonna do. But like I said in the intro
1:56
it's probably gonna take a couple of hours to get going. So what are we gonna do in the meantime
2:01
Well, I've set up a nice little banjo feeder, proper winter staple really
2:07
The reason I've gone for this rather than a straight bomb, sometimes if it was absolutely freezing
2:11
I'd probably use a straight bomb and corn and look to chuck it around the lake. But we've had a real spell of mild weather just recently
2:18
and I think the fish are probably gonna come to a little bit of bait rather than that single hook bait
2:22
So by creating a nice little trap with a feeder, I can chuck that into different little areas
2:26
and I think that they probably are gonna home in on a little bit of bait. So I've set up a nice little banjo, nothing complicated
2:33
Got some fishery micros that have been soaked using mixed method in a little Tupperware tub
2:38
Did them the night before, covered them in water, left them in the fridge. Absolutely perfect, brilliant
2:44
For the hook for that, I've got myself some different coloured wafters
2:48
There's like a pale orange and a white. So I've also got one of my favourite hook baits
2:54
Peperami. Absolute favourite of mine. It's super tough, super smelly, great hook bait on the feeder
3:01
And like I say, we're gonna use that to cast around the swim. It's gonna be really effective
3:06
We're gonna start pretty short, 20 metres or so and then try and work our way out
3:10
using the feeder to pick the fish off. But the real business end is later on
3:14
the second half of our session. Now I've got three tins of corn with me
3:18
and I'm hoping to get through it. Just nice corn, got a bit of a mixture in there
3:23
to be honest. Doesn't really matter as long as it's pretty even grain so you can fire it with some accuracy
3:28
Got myself a proper catapult. We don't want to faff around with any really thin elastic
3:33
or anything like that. We've got to try and feed this to about 18 to 20 metres
3:36
So we don't want our catapults letting us down. Nice strong one. And I'm gonna feed, every time I do this
3:42
I'm gonna feed two pouchfuls of corn every 15 minutes, something like that to start with
3:47
And like I say, I'm looking to feed it for probably three hours before I even think about chucking on it
3:52
When we actually chuck on it, we'll have a proper look at the kit. But in the meantime
3:55
I think we should get that feeder loaded up and start the process of feeding this sweet corn line
3:59
Right, so let's get some fishing done. Now I'm gonna put just a little six mil waft on there
4:06
to start with. I've gone for a little orange one. Nice little colour. It's quite coloured actually today
4:10
I want something that's gonna stand out and I've just got one of the medium banjos on
4:15
And what I like to do at this time of year, I like to put a really thin layer in my feeder
4:20
and squeeze it in really, really firmly, almost like a paste. Looks totally wrong
4:25
but this time of year, you're just trying to attract one down to your feeder. You're not trying to build a swim or anything
4:30
So I just want a lot of smell coming off that feeder. Not actually really offering them much other than my hookbait
4:36
So I've just pushed that in there almost like a paste and I've just got another thin layer
4:41
that I'm gonna put over the top. Now, as you know from my videos in the past
4:45
I like my hookbait to be as deep as I can get it. So I've done that
4:50
Just on top of that firmly squeezed layer. And then we've got to think about
4:55
where we're gonna chuck it to start with. Now, this is where your observation comes in
4:59
while he's setting up. Now, I've been looking at this lake and I've seen an odd bubble coming up at about 20 metres
5:04
That's perfect, because it means I can start there and then work my way further out
5:08
as the fish probably naturally back off throughout the day. Look for signs of fish
5:12
Look for them topping, rolling, bubbling, and that little bubbling, I'm hoping, is a bit of a giveaway
5:19
So we've moulded that feeder and we're just gonna, where I think I've seen them fish
5:25
pop this little feeder on it. So we haven't got a line clip on, we're just gonna feather the line in
5:29
feather the feeder in to make it plop in rather than spladoosh in
5:33
But we're gonna try and just give it a nice little cast onto where I think I've seen a few fish
5:37
So just like that. Nice. Right where I've seen a few fish
5:43
just stop the line with my finger and then we're just gonna get that line under
5:49
Now, the beautiful thing about this line, this detection, is that it sinks really quick
5:53
So I'm hardly putting any, I don't have to pull a line or anything, I've just got the tip nicely under the surface
5:58
Line's gonna sink and we're gonna be nicely set and waiting for a bite
6:03
And while we're doing that, we're gonna think about where we're gonna loose feed this corn
6:08
Now, this is a big open lake, so we're just gonna do it in front of us here
6:13
but if you was on a lake with maybe islands in it or something like that
6:18
my advice would be pick the biggest area of your swim to try this
6:21
So if you were at Lindholm, for example, where you've got a lot of little dot islands
6:25
maybe a gap in the island, loose feed your corn towards the gap, if that makes sense
6:29
You want a nice big area of water that gives you the opportunity to pull quite a few fish
6:34
If you were to do it in a little narrow neck end or a little corner or whatever
6:38
you're not gonna give yourself any chance of pulling fish with a corn. You want a nice big area of water to pull plenty of fish
6:45
Here today, we're fortunate we've got a nice open lake. So I'm just gonna pick a far bank marker
6:50
and I'm gonna start the process of feeding this corn. So what I've got is a lovely platform
6:55
I'm gonna do it ever so slightly to my left so that the line when I'm feeder fishing
7:00
isn't running straight through it. I'm just gonna do it slightly to the left so that I'm not potentially spooking some fish
7:06
So we'll get going. Let's get a proper amount of corn in that caddy
7:12
And like I say, we're just gonna do it as far as the caddy will get the corn. So right in line with that marker
7:18
And if you bottom your caddy out every time, in theory, the corns are gonna go the same distance
7:23
every single time. There we go. And it's a massive amount of bait
7:31
compared to what people are used to in the winter. But corn's very, it goes through the fish quickly
7:36
They can get through it. It's one of those few baits that you can be a little bit more generous with
7:42
and let the fish get through it so easily. So what we're gonna do throughout the day, we're gonna just feed that every
7:46
oh, I had a tiny little line there. We're gonna feed that every sort of 15 minutes
7:53
and then we'll see how it goes. We're definitely gonna leave that alone for three hours
7:57
and we're gonna let the feeder do its magic. We're gonna work the swim with that
8:01
Let's see if we can catch a few fish. So in the winter, location's everything
8:07
And like I've touched on a few times already, I'll bore you to tears with this
8:11
Location's everything. We've gotta look for signs of fish. And actually, liners can be a massive giveaway
8:16
Already, we're getting some tiny little liners and I quite like that. If you're getting those tiny ones
8:20
I believe that your feeder's quite close to the fish when it's like that
8:24
If you're getting those big liners, I believe the fish are closer to you. Whereas we're getting tiny little liners now
8:29
I believe that the feeder's quite close to the fish. So if you're getting those big liners
8:34
So I'm thinking that they've gotta be within striking distance of that feeder
8:39
Now the beauty of this detection is it's got low stretch so you can see the liners really well
8:44
It's almost like you've got braid on and every little movement is magnified on that tip
8:48
So I'm just getting those tiny little liners and I'm convinced that that's fish around the feeder
8:52
So I'm willing to bet that it won't take us too many casts
8:56
to find where the fish are already. Like I say, if I was getting those proper liners
9:02
that pull your rod in, I think that they're much closer to you. So I'd be looking at maybe chucking shorter
9:07
but because we're getting, the liners we're getting straight away are all little tiny knocks
9:12
I'm quite happy to sit on this for a bit because I think the fish are probably on the down flow
9:25
Right, we didn't catch one on the first chuck. So we're just gonna have a quick re-chuck
9:29
Did have some liners though. So I do think we're in the right area for a bit of success
9:36
So let's just whiz it back out there. That's nice in position
9:48
Let's get that line under. Obviously we've got a lovely flat calm day today
9:52
So we haven't got to worry about our feeder moving, but if you've got ripping surface skin or anything like it
9:58
you've got to get your line under. So your presentation's good. Now what's interesting
10:06
I had a big liner on the last chuck, like move my feeder
10:10
And I picked up thinking it was on and then it wasn't, messed it up
10:16
And now I'm not getting any liners at all. And that's really common in winter when you're like dobbing around trying to catch them
10:22
like chucking to the fish, especially on these big lakes where the fish have got a lot of room to back off to
10:27
You don't have to do much wrong to push the fish away from you. And evidently I think there was some fish there
10:32
to start with, but as I've had a few liners, I'm not saying that, I've just had a liner then
10:37
but because I've picked up, I've maybe unsettled what few fish were there
10:41
So I'm already thinking next chuck, if I don't catch one, but even if I do
10:45
I'm probably going to chuck a little bit further on my next chuck and try and go to where the fish are
10:50
They're probably only backed off a few metres, but you've got to be mindful of stuff like that
10:55
You know, if you pick up on a liner, you're potentially pulling the line through the fish
10:59
and potentially spooking them. And like I say, it doesn't take a lot, a few miscasts or a feeder going in badly
11:06
or anything like that, especially on calm days like this, can push them away from you
11:10
So you've got to be really mindful and be really careful what you're doing. And I made a big mistake there picking up on that liner
11:15
and I've potentially ruined myself the chance of catching a fish on this chuck
11:19
So just bear that in mind. There we go
11:29
Well, I taught myself how to get in one, that chuck, but it's gone round. Probably been in eight or nine minutes, I'd say
11:36
We got one. I really thought I'd ruined it for myself by picking up at that liner, but sometimes you just got to be patient in winter
11:43
And maybe I was expecting things to happen too quickly, but they're generally pretty decent fish in this lake
11:51
There's a real mix of F1s and carp in here, but they're generally sort of three pound and above
11:55
So you don't have to catch loads to have a real good day
12:03
I'm just using, I'm a big fan of using the drag on the reels
12:11
And what camp are you in? Are you a backwinder, are you a drag man? I noticed on Facebook the other day
12:16
we put a clip of Mick playing a barbel on backwinder and a few people were up in arms about it
12:20
because he wasn't using the drag. Honestly, I like a drag. Or even a combination of the two
12:29
Look at that. Just using a nice soft 10 foot rod today, which is perfect for this kind of range
12:36
I'm just keeping it nice and low. Drag set. Pretty loose, to be fair
12:43
But with this line, because it's got, not to say it's got no stretch, but it's got minimal stretch
12:47
You can feel everything and you can really control the fish. It's lovely. A great bite, just pull the rod in
12:56
Which is obviously what you're looking for when you're fishing the method. Looking for that
13:01
Proper tow round, which I didn't do on that other chuck when I picked up a liner
13:06
Bug me that, as you can probably tell. We'll just take our time
13:12
For those interested, I've got an 0.17 hook length on. Size 14 hook, which is about right
13:17
for a little six mil wafter. If I was using an eight mil wafter
13:22
I'd probably go up to a 12, but for this, there we go
13:26
Little orange wafter, hanging out of his chops there. Look at that
13:31
Some of them pellets are still in the feeder, would you believe it
13:35
After all that time, so. That's a good thing, I think. When you're waiting for bites
13:40
you want some attraction still in your feeder. You don't want it all to just come flooding out
13:46
and you're left with nothing around your feeder. If you squeeze it in nice and firm
13:51
you've always got something to attract the fish. So, I said on that chuck, I was gonna go a little bit further
13:58
which I am gonna do, because I do think I have pushed
14:01
if there was a bit of a bulker fish in front of me, I do think I've pushed them away from me slightly
14:05
even though I did catch one. So, that wafter's still good. So, let's go again with that
14:10
Like I say, I'm just gonna thumb in a nice firm layer of pellets
14:18
So, there's always something in there. And then a bit of a skinnier layer on top
14:23
And I've made a bit of a mental note of where that feeder went last time
14:27
there's like a tree line. So, I'm just gonna try and go a couple of metres further
14:32
Still, we're not working with a line clip or anything, so it's important to stop the feeder with your finger
14:37
and sort of let it plop in rather than just letting it go in and crash in
14:41
So, let's get it in there. Just slowing it down, plopped in
14:48
And I reckon that's probably gone three or four metres further. We're not working on exact
14:55
And then just as before, get that line under it. It sinks so fast, look at that
15:01
it's almost under already. Unbelievable, look at that. And we're set. Now, I'd love to tell you
15:10
and a true pro would now set a stopwatch, but I've just got my stopwatch out of my seat box
15:17
and the battery's dead. So, we can't do that. I reckon that bite was somewhere between eight and 10 minutes
15:23
and then the first thing I'm thinking about is getting this corn fed. So, just as before
15:28
proper amount of corn, bang in line with that far bank marker. Trying to stick to every sort of 10 to 15 minutes of that
15:39
And I'm gonna get my head down now, work this swim, try and catch a few more
15:46
and enjoy this fishing before that bomb of corn really kicks in later. So, we've had a great couple of hours fishing
15:53
As predicted, we started on that sort of, I don't know what it was, 20, 25 metre sort of chuck
15:59
And we've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing
16:03
We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing
16:07
We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing
16:10
We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing. We've had a great couple of hours fishing
16:14
As predicted, we started on that sort of, I don't know what it was, 20, 25 metre sort of chuck
16:20
Nicked one early after a few liners and bits and bobs. Nicked one early and then the fish have backed off
16:28
And I've chucked much further now. Probably, I'm lucky today that I'm here on my own
16:33
But if there were anglers on the other bank, they'd obviously push the fish to the middle. But the fish have backed well away from me
16:38
and they're actually past the middle now. And I'm chucking to them and we're getting real regular bites now
16:43
Quick bites as well, under 10 minutes. It's really good fishing. And as promised, we're just feeding it all the time
16:50
It's really good, this is, because it's given me much longer to feed that corn line
16:54
Like, I'm allowing that to just do its thing, slowly but surely, build and build and build
17:01
Still sticking to that routine of feeding every 10 to 15 minutes, two pouches of corn
17:07
And to be honest, I'm itching to get on it. But I'm gonna stick to the plan
17:13
wait till we've been fishing for three hours, then I'll have a look just to see. If I can get some signs and some liners and stuff on it
17:19
I know we're on the right path and it might just happen. So, session's going really well
17:25
We've found some fish. They're actually, for those interested, they're in my fishing position ever so slightly to the right
17:31
That seems to be where they are. There's an odd one poking his head out. I'm seeing an odd bubble
17:35
because like I say, it's flat calm. And that is where they are. We're getting an odd F1
17:39
But mainly, proper nice carp. And I've actually switched up. I've put the old Pepper Army up bait on
17:45
And I'm just using like a six mil. Just got a little tap
17:51
They're the F1s they are. Just a little jag on the tip. They're a bit of a nuisance
17:55
They're only little diddy ones. But we're really waiting for those proper carp
17:59
And we're just using the Pepper Army, like a little six mil punch of it
18:05
And it's a great up bait. It's one of those that, I guess we probably don't use
18:10
but it's really durable. It stinks and it's nice and pale. And it's quite buoyant in the water as well
18:18
So you're getting like the same effect as a wafter, but you've got proper food on the end. You've not got something that's pretend on the end
18:23
like a wafter. You've got something that's actual food on the end, which I like
18:27
So it fills me with confidence. And we've got one of these lovely little F1s
18:33
that are just new in this lake. These have really honed in on the bait now
18:41
Lovely fishing years to come, mate. Well, look at that little beauty. And you can see how robust the up bait is
18:46
because it's still on there. So we're gonna plug away with this
18:53
Got about another hour, I reckon, of feeding that bomb and corn before we have a look at it
18:58
But we're just continuing. Now we've found these fish, well past middle
19:02
We'll keep going and then we'll come back to you and this bomb and corn get going
19:19
Well, we've had a brilliant few hours. Searching around with this banjo feed has been really good
19:27
really effective. This is the last one and I just can't help myself now
19:32
I'm gonna switch me little ICS set up over and I'm gonna put a bomb on it, longer hook length
19:39
And we'll have a go on that corn line that we've been lovingly feeding all day from the off
19:45
And let's just pop that out. But the fishing's been great. Real nice fish in this lake, Freida
19:53
like up to sort of six pound. So let's swap that kit over and see
20:00
if all that loose feed has been paying off. Okay, so I just checked my phone and it's 20 past two
20:06
That's full accuracy, full disclosure for you, isn't it? So it's the perfect time to drop on the corn
20:11
I'm not gonna lie, I've just had a cheeky go just to see if there's any fish there
20:17
And it went straight round, which is exactly what we wanna see. Now all I'm using is a size 16 Kama San Animal feeder
20:26
I've got 017 Reflow Power hook length. Again, it was the same set up, I've just switched over
20:32
so we've got six pound detection on the reel. My hook length is about 18 inches
20:37
In winter I do like a slightly longer hook length when I'm bombing corn fishing
20:41
I do think they watch it coming down and obviously that gives it chance to them
20:45
Because it's such a small, sharp hook, I've got no problem with the bolt effect
20:51
The lead, again like I say, we've just been using the old ICS, so I've just got a little 15 gram bomb on there
20:56
Absolutely perfect. So that's the whole set up, as simple as that
21:00
Now we've been feeding it for all this time, and we don't wanna ease up our change
21:05
Because at the end of the day, we've been feeding it every 10 to 15 minutes
21:08
so we don't really wanna break that cycle. It's very easy when you go on something, you start feeding it more often
21:14
Gotta remember to try and keep it as settled as possible. So we just caught a fish off camera
21:19
and we're gonna firstly reset the trap. So, two decent amounts of corn
21:28
just like you would bomb and pellet fishing. And then I'm gonna just chuck to the back edge of me feed
21:34
best I can. So just past the centre of that sort of feed zone
21:38
And then we're just gonna set that trap. And hopefully, just by the last fish
21:43
we just caught off camera, it won't take us too long. Exactly the same, get that line down
21:51
set your little trap, and then hopefully, fingers crossed, we get absolutely toed in
21:58
Several times now before the end of the session, or if it was a match, say you finished at three
22:02
or half three, you'd get maybe that last hour. And this is what this is all about
22:07
that last hour, last hour and a half, a strong finish. It was noticeable when we was fishing that banjo
22:15
it was almost like the fish had spread out, so you weren't getting that effect
22:18
where you chuck into the big balls of fish like we were at the start
22:22
Fish had spread out, we were catching a lot of F1s and stuff. We were just limping to the end of the match
22:28
whereas this has potential to give us a real strong finish. And you never know, you might catch two or three
22:34
but you might catch seven or eight, and that could easily be another 30 pounds
22:37
So well worth doing. And it's a tactic that's working on a lot of venues at the moment
22:43
People who are daring to be a little bit different, bit more aggressive
22:47
because of course it doesn't just work for carp and F1s, it has a knack of catching big skimmers as well
22:52
So if you're on a lake, like the lake behind me, Lake Four, where there's a lot of nice bream in there
22:57
you can expect a few of those as well. So real good tactic, and we're just gonna wait now
23:02
I'll probably be a little bit less patient with this in casting times
23:06
I'm probably gonna give it seven or eight minute casts to start with
23:10
And because obviously the corn spreads out naturally when you feed it
23:14
it's very hard to be super accurate with your loose feed with corn
23:17
Got a nice big area, so I'm just gonna, I'm not too worried about where it lands
23:21
as long as it goes to the back end of that loose feed, if that makes sense
23:25
But I'm happy to just dot it around a little bit as well, and hopefully just pick off fish
23:29
So let's settle in, pour myself a drink, and let's see if we can get a real good finish on the corn
23:41
Whoa, that didn't take long. Look at that. And that's the difference
23:47
because the fish have come to the feed. We're not going to the fish
23:51
So the fish that are there are feeding, and that's the difference to when you're picking them off using a feeder
23:57
or a straight bomb and chucking it around with bomb and bread and stuff. You're catching the fish on their terms in that situation
24:04
whereas this, it's on our terms now. We've built it up, we fed them
24:10
and this is when you can do your big damaging matches, because a bit like when you're fishing pole and maggots
24:18
with F1s in the winter, where you fed a line for a long time, and then when they finally rock up
24:23
they're there and happily feed in. This is exactly the same. And because we're past the pole line
24:28
we've got it to ourselves as well, because the pole anglers will be fishing 13, 14 metres
24:34
We've got this nice little area just past pole, sort of pole range
24:39
And because we've given them a load of bait, they're dead confident. That was a quick bite again
24:46
Just like the one we caught off camera. Real quick bite, and another nice lake-free carp
24:52
And that is the difference with this tactic. Proper fish. They're happily feeding
24:58
And the speed at which we've caught them two carp, I would now think we're gonna catch several more
25:06
And when it comes to hook baits, I'll always start on single corn
25:11
because at the end of the day, that's what we're feeding. But sometimes you'll be getting liners and stuff
25:18
and not actually getting the proper bite, so you might need something
25:22
that's a little bit more standout, perhaps. So don't be frightened to try a hair with double corn on
25:29
That's a really good hook bait, double corn. Bit more of a standout option
25:36
But just like we were doing with the feeder earlier, don't be frightened to put a bit
25:40
of the old pepperami on as well. A nice eight mil punch of pepperami
25:44
Nice big smelly bait, can work really well. Once again, let's set that trap
25:51
And then try and get ours just to the back edge of it. Nice
25:59
I'm excited now. This is how we want it. So, let's hope we get as quick a response this chuck
26:06
as what we just did. That line sinks so fast. Didn't even get a chance to have me brew that hatch up
26:18
Lovely day as well. What can be, what's not to like about this? And we've used the same rod for both styles
26:26
We've used the same setup for the feeder as what we are doing for the bomb
26:31
We just swapped that lead in the feeder around and put a different hook length on
26:36
And we're fishing a different style, so. So, just wait for the next tow round
26:48
Hey up. Hey, as quick as that look. And that is just amazing how that can
26:56
come together like that. And it's all because we've spent the time
27:00
to feed it properly. This is a smaller fish, but it's a quick bite
27:04
We literally, not even two minutes that's been in there. It's only an F1, but again, we're catching it
27:10
It's just totally different to how it was on the feeder. So, I'm going to enjoy a bit of this
27:18
and we'll come back for the final scores on the doors in a minute
27:23
Look at that lovely little F1. So, we've caught four now
27:39
Four nice fish on the bomb and corn. And I know what you're thinking. You're fishing this, you're probably thinking
27:45
you're fishing this very similar to sort of bomb and pellet. You're loose feeding, you're casting over your leader
27:50
you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader
27:53
you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader
27:57
you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader
28:01
you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader, you're casting over your leader
28:06
you're loose feeding, you're casting over your loose feed. Why aren't you using pellets and why are you using corn
28:11
It's quite simple. It's the fact that it's the time of the year. If I was to use pellets
28:15
there's a great chance I could fill the fish up. Nuisance fish, your roach, your skimmers and stuff
28:21
aren't gonna clear it out. Whereas with corn, everything eats it. Like, absolutely everything eats it
28:25
So, there's a good chance, even when there's no carp there, the bait's getting cleared out
28:29
which I think's really important in winter. And it allows me to be super aggressive
28:33
I can feed lots of it, create a big disturbance, a lot of noise that draws inquisitive fish
28:37
when it's time to feed. But just like that. I know there's not, I'm getting really quick bites
28:46
so that can't mean there's that much bait on the bottom. Even though I'm firing in loads of corn
28:50
there can't be loads of bait on the bottom, otherwise I won't be getting these quick bites. Whereas I think pellets at this time of year
28:55
hard pellets, there's a great chance I could have a nasty buildup of bait out there
28:59
And I'm not saying you wouldn't catch on pellets, but I just think that corn at this time of year
29:06
is a much better option. And if you can use it, like I said earlier, you might catch big F1s, you might catch skimmers
29:13
you're gonna catch carp, but everything's eating it. And I think that's a massive, massive thing in winter
29:20
We're giving ourselves a chance for this big finish, which we're having today
29:24
which is just absolutely textbook, it's great. And I just don't think you get that with pellets, personally
29:31
I just think you're potentially giving yourself a situation where you get a buildup of bait on the bottom
29:38
and that is the last thing we want. I need a discarger on that
29:43
So yeah, this time of year, certainly up until about end of March
29:52
use corn, you can catch loads of fish. So there we go, I think that's five
29:58
it might even be six proper carp we've had at the end there on the old bottom and corn
30:02
It's gone even better than I could have expected, actually. And they're absolutely ripping it up now
30:06
And it just goes to show you that being brave, trying something a little bit different
30:10
can be a real winner in winter. We've picked off those fish on the feeder earlier on
30:15
but ultimately we've had that really great finish on the bottom and corn. So something you should definitely give a try
30:22
It's a real winner
