Callum Simpson Discusses Career Dreams and Next Fight with Boris Crighton

you talk the talk, now everything's materialised. How big a star do you think you can be for

them now you're signed with Sky Sports Platform and do you think you can really uplift the

British boxing as a whole and be a big presence in the sport

Definitely, mate. Yeah, 100%. I think British boxing recently, it's kind of not been as

big as it was back in the day. And I feel like there's a... Like I said, I feel like

I'm definitely going to be the next superstar coming out of Britain. And it's only going to be a matter of time

I just signed with Boxer a few months ago, I had my first fight on there

everyone seemed to be impressed and then I've got my next fight in two weeks

but I just looked just over two weeks As far as Christen

he looked good against Lyndon Arthur as a late replacement troubled him a bit with a right hand

but Celso Neves looked good against Felix Cash and he dismantled him

so do you think the same is going to happen you're going to look better go one better than a domestic rival

Well that's it obviously everyone In my last five fights, everyone's saying

oh yeah, you'll not get this kid out. This will be another step up. This will be hard as fight yet

And like I said, I keep getting rid of him in good fashion

So yeah, obviously, I've seen his fight with Linden. I think it was a bit closer than it was with the scorecard I did but obviously I looking to get it done within the distance A bit cheeky but I know Zach Kelly and Mark Heffern aren fighting

Was there any discussion about you going straight into the British super middleweight

or is that not something that came up? No, because Mark's got the title, hasn't he

Yeah, so it wouldn't be possible to fight for the British against Chelsea

Oh, yeah, Mark's got the title. But was there any chance of you finding Zach as a replacement

No, no, nothing that would be made of way of, no. No worries

But with the two of those names, they both wanted to fight the like Kevin Lely-Saggio

I've spoken with both of them about that fight and their teams about that fight

Who was that, sorry? Kevin Lely-Saggio, you know, the European super middleweight title

No, I don't know. Is that the level you want to be at in a couple of fights a time, European, British, that sort of..

I don't know that guy, as you just mentioned. But, yeah, obviously, of course, yeah

Like I said, I want to be getting titles by the end of this year. But preferably maybe the fight after this

We'll see how this next fight goes. And, yeah, like I said, my last few fights now

I've just been stepping it up, stepping it up. And, obviously, Boris, I think, is ranked 12th in the UK

So that should be pushing up the rankings. Hopefully in line for the English next. And are you of the mentality that you can beat anyone

that you get put up against at the moment? Is that the mentality? That any domestic rival, you're going to put them to sleep

Well, of course, yeah. What else am I going to think? I'm not going to think I'm going to lose against everybody

But yeah, that's... Even world level? Even world level? I wouldn say world level yet but where I am and where I believe I going to end up I think I should be a parent for all these British domestic guys And that what I planning to do And obviously I good friends with Kevin as well as yourself

And I know that Kevin is going to be the helping guide that journey

And obviously, Ben Shalom as well and Boxer team. Do you sort of feel like the stars have sort of aligned

I hope you are full time now. I haven't caught up with you for a while, but I know you were planning when we were doing the documentary

in Lidl you said you were going to be full-time is it all sort of aligning and all getting in the right position now

for your moment to come? Yeah mate like I said everything's falling into place

I think last time I saw if I spoke properly I was working full-time still but I'm training full-time now

I've got plenty of good sponsors on board that are looking after me

yes I'm able to train box full-time recover properly training two or three times a day

six days a week so yeah everything's going well mate. And I know Mace is your friend from Barnsley, I know he does your ring rock music

I don't know if he's got any more planned up, but he said when Big Simp, Leng Man Down

with Reach, seeing blood splash all side ringside seats, and your Centuary Airtile winner

Oldham, I was sat at the table and there was literal blood splashing in that direction

so do you turn your friend's lyrics into prophecy almost? Oh, well yeah, pretty much, yeah

pretty much. And I think he's made a little skit of that, actually, with the lyrics over

the top, with the audio over the top. I'm sure he's made a little video of that

Have to show me. And I guess, lastly, you've got the the

exposure you got the platform now and people are starting to like the Sky Sports machine is behind you Was this something that was always going to happen do you think

or do you feel lucky that you've obviously had the right manager

had a bit of build-up from ourselves and other people, like Boxing King Media as well, sponsored you

How do you feel like it's come about? Do you think your power is so good that you're always going to get this opportunity

or do you just still feel grateful for it nonetheless? I don't think luck has anything

to do with it to be honest I've worked hard since I was nine years old and even

more so the past few years since I've been pro so yeah I wouldn't say I'm lucky at all I feel

like I'm obviously blessed being in the position I'm in obviously it's all come through hard

work and again people like yourselves and box team media and other media

outlets giving that exposure and also I'm managing Kevin Marie my trainer you know

there's a lot of people behind the scenes that are supporting me and helping push me

but I wouldn't say any of it's luck if we just come together pretty much

Obviously, it's all through hard work. And that hard work is obviously going to continue

and Longmare continue. I'm enjoying the story of Rai. Do you have a message for anyone out there

that isn't already on the train as to why every time you fight

it's going to be something that they're going to want to see, that they're going to want to tune into

Look at every single fight I've had, every single fight, especially the last nine

combined by way of stoppage knockout my last one as well we've got the performance

of the night and I'm sure I'm going to seal the show again on the 1st of July Brilliant
