Hi, I'm Joost and today I'm looking at the Layrite Original vs. the Super Hold pomade
0:04
So these two Layrite products are very similar, but of course the difference is in the hold
0:08
But there's also a slight difference in smell. I think this one has a slightly more manly smell and this one has a slightly more metroman smell
0:19
And the hints of coconut and vanilla are a little bit stronger here
0:23
So for the smell I'd go with the Original pomade, but of course if you want a heavy hold
0:28
then the Super Hold pomade is a great one to get. You can also see in the structure, in the texture, that this one is a little bit more wet and gooey
0:39
And this one is more solid. The Layrite Deluxe Strong Hold pomade, and it really does have a strong hold
0:46
I mean, look at that. It holds my hair up perfectly. And it has like a wet finish. It has a medium shine, so not too heavy
0:54
And it smells, it's quite a manly smell, but maybe a little bit bubblegummy
0:58
Or maybe that's the texture that's making me think of bubblegum. And this is really a strong gummy type of pomade
1:05
Now this is really sticky, so what I'd like to do is rub a little across my palms
1:10
And then rub that across the top of my head. And then make sure I cover every inch of my hair
1:15
Then I just take a little bit extra and do the back and sides of my hair
1:19
Just to make sure that that stays in place all day. And I rub the top to the middle and make some spikes, so my hair stays up
1:25
Now this is perfect for a wet type of heavy hold, where you need your hair to stay in a particular place
1:31
And you can also use it for a little bit longer hair, like I do here with my sons. To make sure that it stays in a slicked back look
1:38
Or it stays to the side, like I'm doing here. And the advantage here is that it doesn't become crunchy
1:43
So it is a heavy hold, just like with gels. But it doesn't become crunchy, so you can go through your hair during the day
1:49
I think this Layrite Super Hold Pomade is perfect for those who want to have a heavy hold
1:54
With like a wet look, but don't want that crunchiness of a gel
1:58
The Layrite Original Pomade. And it keeps my hair in place quite well
2:03
It has a medium hold, as you can see. It holds my hair up
2:08
And it's quite wet. It's quite a wet look. So if that's what you're looking for, this is a great product
2:14
It smells... A little bit more Metro Manny than the other Layrite products
2:20
It's a coconutty, vanilla kind of smell. It is a great smell that will keep in your hair all day
2:25
So you don't even need to wear any cologne when you're using this
2:29
Now it's quite sticky, so the way I like to use this is to rub a little across my hands
2:34
And then go through my hair, pushing that up, because I like it up and spiky
2:38
And this will give you a nice wet look. Now this has a medium hold, so it's not the best for my spiky and my thin hair
2:45
Because it needs quite a bit to be able to stay up. But it is great if I want to wear it just a little bit flatter
2:52
And I think it's perfect for my son's hair, which is just a little bit longer
2:57
And to push that all the way to the side. Or even do a slicked back look if you want
3:02
I just apply a little to his hair as well. And the advantage of a pomade like this is that you can go through your hair during the day
3:09
And sculpt that back into place. It won't get crunchy like with a gel
3:13
But it still has a medium hold. So I think this is perfect for those with a little longer hair
3:19
To get like a wet look without it being crunchy
