Classic Reuben Sandwich
Ingredients:
8 slices rye bread
½ cup Thousand Island dressing
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices deli-sliced corned beef
1 cup sauerkraut, drained
2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions:
Prepare the Bread: Spread one side of each slice of bread with Thousand Island dressing.
Assemble the Sandwich: On four slices of bread, layer one slice of Swiss cheese, two slices of corned beef, ¼ cup of sauerkraut, and another slice of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, dressing-side down.
Butter the Bread: Butter the top of each sandwich.
Grill the Sandwich: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches, butter-side down, on the skillet. Butter the top of each sandwich.
Cook Until Golden: Grill until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes per side.
Serve Hot: Serve immediately, ideally with a pickle on the side1.
