Ahi tuna recipe
Sep 7, 2024
Ingredients:
2 ahi tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Spicy Mayo:
¼ cup mayonnaise (preferably Kewpie)
1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions:
Marinate the Tuna: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and sesame oil. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for about 10-15 minutes.
Prepare the Spicy Mayo: In another bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, lemon juice, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside.
Sear the Tuna: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the tuna from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Press the sesame seeds onto both sides of the tuna steaks.
Cook the Tuna: Sear the tuna steaks for about 1-2 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred level of doneness. The outside should be nicely seared while the inside remains rare.
