Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Review: Is It Worth Buying?
Jun 4, 2025
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is a lower budget Android smartphone. I describe it as the Galaxy A06 5G with some improved features, and this is because at the core, they are the same phone. The question is, how much better is the A16 5G than the A06 5G? Enjoy my Samsung Galaxy A16 5G review. #samsunga165g #samsunggalaxya165g #phonereview #phonereviews

Hello, this is Mr. Mobility. The Samsung
0:11
Galaxy A16 5G is a lower budget Android
0:16
smartphone by Samsung. Think of it as
0:20
the Samsung Galaxy A6
0:23
5G with some upgraded features. And why
0:27
do I describe it that way? It uses
0:30
exactly the same processor that the
0:33
Galaxy A6 5G uses. It has the same
0:37
battery capacity. It has the same fast
0:39
charging standard. It has the same
0:42
screen size. The dimensions are almost
0:44
exactly the same. It has the same water
0:47
drop notch and it has the same main
0:50
camera at the back. So to all intents
0:54
and purposes, the Galaxy
0:56
A165G is the Galaxy
1:00
A65G with some improvements. And what
1:04
are the improvements? First up, the LCD
1:07
IPS display in the
1:10
AO65G is replaced with a super display
1:13
in the A16 5G. The
1:17
720p resolution of the display is
1:19
replaced with a 1080p
1:22
resolution. The
1:24
AO6 only has nano SIM compatibility. The
1:29
A165G has options that include single
1:33
ESIM, dual
1:36
ESIM. Also, in what appears to be a
1:39
downgrade, while the Galaxy A6 has
1:43
Android 15 out of the box, the A16 5G
1:46
comes with Android 14 out of the box,
1:50
but Android 15 is already rolling out to
1:55
uh Samsung phones and definitely the
2:00
A165G should be up to date in no time.
2:03
While the AO65G is getting 4 years of
2:07
major Android updates, the A165G is
2:10
getting six good years of software
2:13
updates. Now, I have mentioned that it's
2:16
the same processor in the two devices.
2:18
But the interesting thing is that the
2:21
A165G has a more powerful GPU. So for
2:25
graphics and related issues, you're
2:28
going to get better performance from the
2:31
A16 5G. Now in the camera department,
2:35
the A165G comes with upgrades. While the
2:38
AO6 has a dual camera at the back, the
2:41
A165G has a triple camera setup at the
2:44
back. The main camera is the same, but
2:46
now it has two extra cameras instead of
2:49
just one extra as obtained on the AO6
2:53
5G. On the selfie front, in the water
2:56
drop notch of the AO65G is an 8 MP
2:59
selfie camera. On the A165G, you get a
3:03
13 megapixel selfie camera instead. And
3:07
lastly, the upgrade of the A165G means
3:11
that it does not have a 3.5 mm audio
3:15
jack. So, if you want to use a wired
3:18
headset, you will have to get a USBC
3:22
adapter. There is no 3.5 mm audio port
3:26
on the A16 5G. To all intents and
3:29
purposes, everything else is the same.
3:32
IP54, splash and dust protection,
3:36
performance very similar, battery
3:38
charging, very similar. So, my
3:41
conclusions from the AO6 5G review
3:46
largely apply here. It's a lower budget
3:50
Android smartphone. you should not push
3:53
it too hard. While performance is
3:57
acceptable, it is not one of those
3:59
devices that you're buying because
4:01
you're looking for the smoothest
4:03
performance out there. You will
4:05
experience those pies, those lags. Not
4:10
because it's bad, but because of its
4:13
price point. As far as this category,
4:16
this this price point, this class of
4:18
devices go, its performance is
4:20
completely acceptable. What do I think
4:23
of the device? I enjoyed using both the
4:26
AO6 and the A16 5G. Both of them are
4:30
solid devices in their categories, in
4:34
their price point. So, if you're looking
4:36
for a budget smartphone in the range of
4:39
$150 to
4:42
$160, the Samsung Galaxy
4:45
A165G is a good option to look at.
