In this tutorial, I'm going to show you
0:02
a quick method to clean up drive C on
0:04
Windows 10. Now, cleaning up your
0:06
Windows computer or your drive C will
0:08
help optimize your computer and also
0:11
make your computer run much faster. Now,
0:13
for the sake of this tutorial, we are
0:14
not going to use any third party
0:16
software. We just going to use inbuilt
0:18
tools within Windows 10 to perform disk
0:20
cleanup. So, there are quite a number of
0:22
steps that you can take. So, in the
0:24
first step, go ahead and right click on
0:25
start menu. Then, under it, you'll see
0:28
an option called run. So if you tap on
0:30
run, type in
0:33
temp just like that and then tap on
0:37
okay. Go ahead and click on
0:41
continue. And now you'll see here we
0:43
have quite a number of temporary files
0:45
that are not
0:47
needed. So go ahead and select all of
0:49
them and then delete all of them. Under
0:52
this there are some files that cannot be
0:54
deleted. So go ahead and click on skip
0:57
but also click on this do this for all
1:00
current items. So I'll click this and
1:02
then
1:04
skip and that will clean up again. Go
1:07
ahead and right click on start menu and
1:10
then and then click on run and this time
1:13
go ahead and add percentage at the
1:15
beginning of temp and at the end of
1:18
temp and again click on okay. We also
1:22
have another set of files and as you can
1:23
see there are quite too many and we also
1:26
need to eradicate these. Select all of
1:28
them and then
1:31
delete and this will go
1:34
ahead and delete them again. Go ahead
1:38
and tap on run and then this time around
1:41
and a pre
1:44
fetch and then
1:46
okay. Also click on continue. And you
1:50
also have some temporary files here
1:52
under preet. Go ahead and select all of
1:54
them. Then delete. And here we go. It's
1:57
done. Then take the next step. And the
2:00
next step is to go and delete any
2:01
unwanted program that is on your
2:04
computer. So to do so, go ahead and
2:06
click on control panel. Then under
2:10
control panel, look for this option
2:12
called programs and features. So under
2:14
this you'll be able to see all the
2:16
programs that are available on your
2:18
computer and then identify all the
2:20
programs that you no longer need or that
2:22
are lying idle on your computer. Here go
2:25
ahead and click on the identified
2:27
programs. Then right click on it and
2:29
choose the uninstall option and then
2:31
this will go ahead and then uninstall
2:34
the programs that are on your computer
2:35
that you no longer need. This will free
2:38
up much of your space on your computer.
2:42
Once you have done on that, it's time to
2:44
go ahead and empty our recycle bin. That
2:47
is the next step that you need to take.
2:48
So go and click on recycle bin which is
2:51
here. These are deleted files that are
2:53
on our computer. So whenever you delete
2:56
a file without without using the shift
2:58
combination, the file is usually stored
3:01
on the recycle bin. However, if you want
3:03
to empty the recycle bin, just go ahead
3:05
and select all the items. Then choose
3:08
the option called here empty recycle
3:11
bin. Now this will go ahead and delete
3:14
all the items on our recycle bin. And
3:17
now as you can see I have quite a number
3:19
of them and it will take some few
3:21
minutes to do this. Now if you go ahead
3:25
you'll find you have quite a number of
3:26
free space on your drive C that was
3:29
almost full. And the next step is to
3:31
perform a complete disk cleanup. And to
3:33
do this just click here and then search
3:36
for disk cleanup. And as you can see, we
3:40
have this clean up option here. So,
3:44
choose this and this will go ahead and
3:46
clean up the system. So, this will go
3:48
ahead and calculate how much space
3:51
you'll be able to free on our hard disk.
3:53
So, go ahead and select all these files
3:56
and then click on okay. And you have to
3:59
select if you're sure you want to
4:00
permanently delete these files. And some
4:02
of the files that will be deleted will
4:04
include Windows update cleanup, download
4:06
program files, temporary internet files
4:09
among others. So I'll go ahead and click
4:11
on okay. And then this will go ahead and
4:14
clean up my drive C. Now the last step
4:17
you want to take is to go ahead and
4:19
optimize your Windows 10 computer. To do
4:22
that, go ahead and click on this PC and
4:25
then right click on your local disc C or
4:27
drive C. If you right click on it, go
4:30
ahead and choose the option called
4:32
properties. And then under this, go
4:34
ahead and choose tools. And under tools,
4:37
you can see we have an option to
4:39
optimize and def fragment drive. And
4:42
we're told here optimizing your
4:44
computer's drives can help it run more
4:46
efficiently. So I'll go ahead and click
4:49
on optimize. And this will go ahead and
4:52
highlight all the drives that you have
4:53
on your computer. Go ahead and choose
4:56
drive C. Then you'll see an option here
4:58
to optimize. Go ahead and click on it
5:00
and it will go ahead and optimize your
5:02
drive C. So by following these steps,
5:05
your computer will be running now much
5:07
faster and your drive C will be
5:09
optimized to give you the best
5:10
performance. If you have any other
