Are you looking to learn more stitches for making blankets
0:02
Then crochet along with me, and I'll show you how to crochet the peak stitch
0:06
I'll break down each step so you can create stunning blankets and scarves with ease
0:11
So the peak stitch is really, really, very simple, one-row repeat. It gives you a lovely texture
0:18
It's a pretty solid stitch, and you can use it for all sorts of projects
0:23
Today I'm going to be using Pebble Hayes Double Knot by Yarn Smiths
0:27
and I'm going to be using both a 5 and a 7mm hook for this stitch
0:35
So if you look closely at this stitch, it's basically two stitches in each stitch
0:42
So in order for us to have a starting chain that isn't too tight
0:47
I'm going to go up two hook sizes just to make the starting chain
0:52
putting a slip knot on there. And then you can chain any number
0:57
So just make your chain as wide as you want your project to be
1:05
So I going to swap back to 5mm hook And then I going to make a chain two
1:23
This is just so that the actual chain, this chain two counts as a part of your first stitch
1:31
So you don't want that to be quite as big as the rest of the chains. So I'm going to yarn over and put my hook into the third chain from the hook
1:38
pull up a loop and I'm going to yarn over and pull through all of those loops
1:43
Then I'm going to yarn over, put my hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two
1:49
That's the first part of a double crochet, but we're making cluster stitches here. So I'm going to yarn over again, put my hook in, pull up a loop
1:57
and then I'm going to yarn over and pull through all of those loops. So it's kind of like you're making a cluster with a double crochet and a half double crochet
2:06
So we're going to do that in every stitch across. So, I'm going to yarn over, put the hook in, pull up a loop
2:14
yarn over, pull over two, yarn over, go back into the same stitch, pull up a loop
2:21
and yarn over and pull through all of those loops. I do that one more time yarn over put the hook into the stitch pull up a loop yarn over pull through two yarn over put the hook into the same stitch pull up a loop
2:37
yarn over and pull through all of those loops. As you can see, it makes these pretty little cluster stitches
2:44
so I'm going to keep going until I get to the end of the row. And we're at the last chain now, so I'm going to do exactly the same
3:06
Yarn over, hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two
3:12
yarn over, hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all of those loops
3:19
And that's your first row complete. I'm then going to chain one and turn
3:28
And now we're going to be working it into the tops of those stitches. So that first stitch in the previous row was a bit different
3:34
but that was just for that one row. So now we're going to yarn over
3:38
hook into the stitch pull up a loop yarn over pull through two yarn over hook into the stitch pull up a loop yarn over and pull through all of those loops And we going to work this all the way across
4:10
So I've worked across. I've got two stitches left
4:20
Sometimes this last one can be easy to miss, so make sure you don't miss that last one
4:24
And we're going to do exactly the same in those last two stitches
4:30
You might need to maybe just turn it over again to see the top of that stitch
4:37
and then we'll chain one and turn and you'll just repeat that row
4:43
until your project is as big as you want it to be as you can see it creates a really pretty
4:49
kind of ridged fabric perfect for making blankets and scarves and if you love this stitch then be sure to watch out
4:55
for my peekaboo crochet gloves tutorial which will be coming out very soon
