When "Star Trek" first hit the small screen in 1966, it opened up a universe of possibility: strange new worlds, species, and countless adventures. It also paved the way for numerous spin-offs, feature films, books, and comics. With each new installment in the franchise, came bigger conflicts, better sets, and a wider array of (mostly humanoid) aliens.
