Hey guys, so I just got off my third phone call literally in the last five days
0:04
Three different therapists who are taking work, either PRN or some form of work
0:11
The employer wants to reassign that therapist PTAN to the employer, which is awesome
0:17
That's great. That's what should happen. But in all three cases, the employer wants the personal password and login information
0:23
for the therapist. Now that should never be shared. So guys, I want to go through in this video the basic overview of how a reassignment should
0:33
be submitted when using the PICO system. You should never be giving away your personal password
0:39
Now, I know there are a lot of employers that do it this way. They've always done it this way
0:43
They don't even know how to do it the proper way. But I'm going to explain to you guys the proper way
0:47
And if you need to, share this video with the employer. But basically what should happen is, I, for example, own Total Therapy Solutions
0:55
It's a private practice outpatient physical therapy clinic. If I'm hiring a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech language pathologist
1:04
I will want to connect my Medicare identity and access system to their Medicare identity
1:11
and access system. The easiest way that I do it is I request the therapist MPI, which is public information
1:19
I put the MPI into my Medicare INA and I add that therapist as a connection
1:24
then i request to be able to access the pcos and sometimes the mppes applications on behalf of the
1:33
therapist that does not allow me control of that therapist information it only allows me to submit an application for reassignment on behalf of that therapist if the therapist doesn have a Medicare
1:47
provider number at all I could submit for a Medicare provider number and a
1:51
reassignment but the idea is I'm doing everything through my Medicare INA
1:55
account I never request a password I never request login information and so
2:01
if you're taking a PRN job, a contract job, a W-2 job, and your employer wants to submit the
2:09
reassignment on your behalf, you have to have your own Medicare I&A account, which is totally free to
2:16
create. If you go to the Medicare I&A identity and access system, you try to make an account
2:22
you find out that there's already an account made for you. It's associated with your social security
2:27
number so you can only ever have one account you need control of that account so you would need to
2:34
contact customer service they will regain access and control to that account for you and then you
2:40
should never give up control of that account so use a password that's only you know solely for you
2:46
use an email that you will have control of for the rest of your career don't use an employer's email
2:51
and just understand that when an employer is doing a reassignment it should be done through the
2:56
employer's portal with you as a connection to the employer if you guys
3:01
have questions if you need more information do not hesitate to reach out
3:04
post a question in the comments below if you're an employer and you're not sure of
3:08
the process to submit an application for a reassignment just let me know like I
3:14
do this every single day I've done hundreds of them in the last two years I've seen all the mistakes I've dealt with all the roadblocks I'm more than
