#earlychurch #churchfathers This is the Didache in video-book format. In ancient Christianity during the time of Acts and just after the death of the Apostles, the first book that was written down for Christians was called the Didache. It contained the teachings of the Apostles based on what Jesus taught them at the Sermon on the Mount. It was not only the first book written specifically for Christians, but it was also read at sunrise every Sunday by the leader of each church that gathered everywhere. It contains the doctrine of Christ, and now 2000 years later, the church everywhere would grow tremendously if we read, learned, and practiced the things taught within the Didache....

the Daki chapter 1 the two ways the
0:37
first commandment there are two ways one
0:40
of life and one of death but a great
0:42
difference between the two ways the way
0:45
of life then is this first you shall
0:47
love God who made you second your
0:50
neighbor as yourself and all things
0:52
whatsoever you would should not occur to
0:55
you do not also do to another and of
0:58
these sayings the teaching is this bless
1:00
those who curse you and pray for your
1:02
enemies and fast for those who persecute
1:05
you for what reward is there if you love
1:07
those who love you do not also the
1:09
Gentiles do the same but love those who
1:12
hate you and you shall not have an enemy
1:14
abstain from fleshly and worldly lusts
1:17
if someone gives you a blow upon your
1:19
right cheek turn to him the other also
1:21
and you shall be perfect if someone
1:23
impresses you for one mile go with him
1:26
too if someone takes away your cloak
1:28
give him also your coat if someone takes
1:31
from you what is yours ask it not back
1:34
for indeed you are not able give to
1:36
everyone that asks you and ask it not
1:38
back for the Father wills that to all
1:41
should be given of our own blessings
1:43
free gifts happy is he that gives
1:46
according to the commandment for he is
1:48
guiltless woe to him that receives for
1:50
if one having need receives he is
1:53
guiltless but he that receives not
1:55
having need shall pay the penalty why he
1:58
received and for what and coming into
2:01
straits confinement he shall be examined
2:04
concerning the things which he has done
2:06
and he shall not escape then until he
2:08
pay back the last farthing but also now
2:10
concerning this it has been said "Let
2:13
your alms sweat in your hands until you
2:15
know to whom you should give." Chapter
2:18
two the second commandment gross sin
2:21
forbidden and the second commandment of
2:23
the teaching you shall not commit murder
2:25
you shall not commit adultery you shall
2:27
not commit pedarasti you shall not
2:30
commit fornication you shall not steal
2:32
you shall not practice magic you shall
2:34

2:36
murder a child by abortion nor kill that
2:39
which is begotten you shall not covet
2:41
the things of your neighbor you shall
2:43
not forear yourself you shall not bear
2:46
false witness you shall not speak evil
2:49
you shall bear no grudge you shall not
2:51
be double-minded nor double tonged for
2:54
to be double tonged is a snare of death
2:56
your speech shall not be false nor empty
2:59
but fulfilled by deed you shall not be
3:02
covetous nor rapious nor hypocrite nor
3:06
evil disposed nor hotty you shall not
3:09
take evil counsel against your neighbor
3:11
you shall not hate any man but some you
3:14
shall reprove and concerning some you
3:16
shall pray and some you shall love more
3:19
than your own life chapter 3 other sins
3:22
forbidden my child flee from every evil
3:25
thing and from every likeness of it be
3:28
not prone to anger for anger leads the
3:30
way to murder neither jealous nor
3:32
quarrelsome nor of hot temper for out of
3:35
all these murders are engendered my
3:38
child be not a lustful one for lust
3:41
leads the way to fornication neither a
3:43
filthy talker nor a lofty eye for out of
3:46
all these adulteries are engendered my
3:49
child be not an observer of omens since
3:52
it leads the way to idolatry neither an
3:55
enchanter nor an astrologer nor a
3:58
purifier nor be willing to look at these
4:01
things for out of all these idolatry is
4:04
engendered my child be not a liar since
4:07
a lie leads the way to theft neither
4:09
moneyloving nor vain glorious for out of
4:12
these thefts is engendered my child be
4:15
not a murmurer since it leads the way to
4:18
blasphemy neither self-willed nor
4:21
evil-minded for out of all these
4:23
blasphemies are engendered but be meek
4:26
since the meek shall inherit the earth
4:28
be long-suffering and pitiful and guless
4:31
and gentle and good and always trembling
4:34
at the words which you have heard you
4:36
shall not exalt yourself nor give
4:39
overconfidence to your soul your soul
4:42
shall not be joined with lofty ones but
4:44
with just and lowly ones shall it have
4:46
its intercourse the workings that befall
4:49
you receive as good knowing that apart
4:51
from God nothing comes to pass chapter 4
4:55
various
4:57
precepts my child him that speaks to you
4:59
the word of God remembered night and day
5:02
and you shall honor him as the Lord for
5:05
in the place whence lordly rule is
5:07
uttered there is the Lord and you shall
5:09
seek out day by day the faces of the
5:12
saints in order that you may rest upon
5:14
their words you shall not long for
5:16
division but shall bring those who
5:18
contend to peace you shall judge
5:21
righteously you shall not respect
5:23
persons in reproving for transgressions
5:26
you shall not be undecided whether it
5:28
shall be or no be not a stretcher forth
5:31
of the hands to receive and a drawer of
5:33
them back to give if you have anything
5:36
through your hands you shall give ransom
5:39
for your sins you shall not hesitate to
5:41
give nor murmur when you give for you
5:43
shall know who is the good repayer of
5:46
the hire you shall not turn away from
5:48
him that is in want but you shall share
5:50
all things with your brother and shall
5:52
not say that they are your own for if
5:54
you are partakers in that which is
5:56
immortal how much more in things which
5:59
are mortal you shall not remove your
6:01
hand from your son or from your daughter
6:03
but from their youth you shall teach
6:05
them the fear of God you shall not
6:07
enjoin anything in your bitterness upon
6:10
your bondman or maidservant who hope in
6:13
the same God lestever they shall fear
6:16
not God who is over both for he comes
6:19
not to call according to the outward
6:21
appearance but unto them whom the Spirit
6:24
has prepared and your bond men shall be
6:26
subject to your masters as to a type of
6:29
God in modesty and fear you shall hate
6:32
all hypocrisy and everything which is
6:34
not pleasing to the Lord forsake in no
6:37
way the commandment of the Lord but you
6:39
shall keep what you have received
6:41
neither adding thereto nor taking away
6:44
thereof in the church you shall
6:45
acknowledge your transgressions and you
6:47
shall not come near for your prayer with
6:50
an evil conscience this is the way of
6:52
life chapter 5 the way of death and the
6:55
way of death is this first of all it is
6:58
evil and full of curse murders
7:01
adulteries lusts fornications thefts
7:04
idolatries magic arts witchcrafts
7:07
rapines false witnessings hypocrisies
7:11
double-heartedness deceit hottiness
7:13
depravity self-will greediness filthy
7:16
talking jealousy overconfidence
7:19
loftiness boastfulness persecutors of
7:22
the good hating truth loving a lie not
7:24
knowing a reward for righteousness Not
7:27
cleaving to good nor to righteous
7:29
judgment watching not for that which is
7:31
good but for that which is evil from
7:34
whom meekness and endurance are far
7:37
loving vanities pursuing reququital not
7:40
pitying a poor man not laboring for the
7:43
afflicted not knowing him that made them
7:45
murderers of children destroyers of the
7:48
handiwork of God turning away from him
7:50
that is in want afflicting him that is
7:53
distressed advocates of the rich lawless
7:56
judges of the poor utter sinners be
7:59
delivered children from all these
8:02
chapter 6 against false teachers and
8:05
food offered to idols see that no one
8:08
cause you to error from this way of the
8:10
teaching since apart from God it teaches
8:13
you for if you are able to bear all the
8:15
yoke of the Lord you will be perfect but
8:18
if you are not able what you are able
8:20
that do and concerning food bear what
8:23
you are able but against that which is
8:25
sacrificed to idols be exceedingly on
8:27
your guard for it is the service of dead
8:30
gods chapter 7 concerning baptism and
8:34
concerning baptism baptize this way
8:37
having first said all these things
8:39
baptize into the name of the Father and
8:41
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit in
8:43
living water but if you have not living
8:46
water baptize into other water and if
8:49
you cannot in cold in warm but if you
8:52
have not either pour out water thrice
8:54
upon the head into the name of the
8:57
Father and Son and Holy Spirit but
9:00
before the baptism let the baptizer fast
9:03
and the baptized and whatever others can
9:05
but you shall order the baptized to fast
9:08
one or two days before chapter 8
9:12
concerning fasting and prayer but let
9:14
not your fasts be with the hypocrites
9:17
for they fast on the second and fifth
9:19
day of the week but fast on the fourth
9:22
day and the preparation Friday neither
9:25
pray as the hypocrites but as the Lord
9:28
commanded in his gospel thus pray our
9:30
Father who art in heaven hallowed be
9:33
your name your kingdom come your will be
9:35
done as it is in heaven so on earth give
9:37
us today our daily bread and forgive us
9:40
our debt as we also forgive our debtors
9:42
and bring us not into temptation but
9:44
deliver us from the evil one for yours
9:47
is the power and the glory forever
9:49
thrice in the day thus pray chapter nine
9:53
the thanksgiving now concerning the
9:55
thanksgiving thus give thanks first
9:58
concerning the cup we thank you our
10:00
father for the holy vine of David your
10:02
servant which you made known to us
10:04
through Jesus your servant to you be the
10:06
glory forever and concerning the broken
10:08
bread we thank you our father for the
10:11
life and knowledge which you made known
10:13
to us through Jesus your servant to you
10:15
be the glory forever and as this broken
10:18
bread was scattered over the hills and
10:20
was gathered together and become one so
10:23
let your church be gathered together
10:25
from the ends of the earth into your
10:27
kingdom for yours is the glory and the
10:29
power through Jesus Christ forever but
10:31
let no one eat or drink of your
10:33
thanksgiving but they who have been
10:35
baptized into the name of the Lord for
10:38
concerning this also the Lord has said
10:40
give not that which is holy to the dogs
10:43
chapter 10 prayer after communion but
10:45
after you are filled thus give thanks we
10:48
thank you Holy Father for your holy name
10:50
which you caused to tabernacle in our
10:52
hearts and for the knowledge and faith
10:54
and immortality which you made known to
10:57
us through Jesus your servant to be the
10:59
glory forever you Master Almighty
11:02
created all things for your name's sake
11:04
you gave food and drink to men for
11:07
enjoyment that they might give thanks to
11:09
you but to us you freely gave spiritual
11:11
food and drink and life eternal through
11:14
your servant before all things we thank
11:16
you that you are mighty to you be the
11:18
glory forever remember Lord your church
11:21
deliver it from all evil and to make it
11:23
perfect in your love and gather it from
11:26
the four winds sanctified for your
11:29
kingdom which you have prepared for it
11:31
for yours is the power and the glory
11:34
forever let grace come and let this
11:36
world pass away hosana to the God of
11:39
David if anyone is holy let him come if
11:42
anyone is not so let him repent
11:45
marinatha amen but permit the prophets
11:48
to make thanksgiving as much as they
11:50
desire chapter 11 concerning teachers
11:54
apostles and prophets whosoever
11:56
therefore comes and teaches you all
11:59
these things that have been said before
12:01
receive him but if the teacher himself
12:03
turn and teach another doctrine to the
12:05
destruction of this hear him not but if
12:08
he teach so as to increase righteousness
12:10
and the knowledge of the Lord receive
12:12
him as the Lord but concerning the
12:14
apostles and prophets according to the
12:17
decree of the gospel thus do let every
12:19
apostle that comes to you be received as
12:22
the Lord but he shall not remain except
12:24
one day but if there be need also the
12:27
next but if he remain 3 days he is a
12:30
false prophet and when the apostle goes
12:32
away let him take nothing but bread
12:35
until he lodges but if he ask money he
12:37
is a false prophet and every prophet
12:39
that speaks in the spirit you shall
12:41
neither try nor judge for every sin
12:44
shall be forgiven but this sin shall not
12:47
be forgiven but not everyone that speaks
12:49
in the spirit is a prophet but only if
12:51
he holds the ways of the Lord therefore
12:53
from their ways shall the false prophet
12:56
and the prophet be known and every
12:58
prophet who orders a meal in the spirit
13:00
eats not from it except indeed he be a
13:03
false prophet and every prophet who
13:05
teaches the truth if he do not what he
13:07
teaches he is a false prophet and every
13:10
prophet proved true working unto the
13:12
mystery of the church in the world yet
13:15
not teaching others to do what he
13:16
himself does shall not be judged among
13:18
you for with God he has his judgment for
13:21
so did also the ancient prophets but
13:24
whoever says in the spirit "Give me
13:26
money or something else." You shall not
13:28
listen to him but if he says to you to
13:30
give for others sake who are in need let
13:33
no one judge him chapter 12 Reception of
13:36
Christians but let everyone that comes
13:38
in the name of the Lord be received and
13:41
afterward you shall prove and know him
13:43
for you shall have understanding right
13:46
and left if he who comes is a wayfairer
13:49
assist him as far as you are able but he
13:51
shall not remain with you except for two
13:53
or three days if need be but if he wills
13:56
to abide with you being an artisan let
13:58
him work and eat but if he has no trade
14:01
according to your understanding see to
14:03
it that as a Christian he shall not live
14:05
with you idol but if he wills not to do
14:08
he is a Christ monger watch that you
14:10
keep aloof from such chapter 13 support
14:14
the prophets but every true prophet that
14:16
wills to abide among you is worthy of
14:19
his support and also a true teacher is
14:21
himself worthy as the workmen of his
14:24
support every first fruit therefore of
14:27
the products of wine press and threshing
14:29
floor of oxen and of sheep you shall
14:31
take and give to the prophets for they
14:33
are your high priests but if you have
14:35
not a profit give it to the poor if you
14:38
make a batch of dough take the first
14:40
fruit and give according to the
14:42
commandment so also when you open a jar
14:44
of wine or of oil take the first fruit
14:47
and give it to the prophets and of money
14:49
and clothing and every possession take
14:51
the first fruit as it may seem good to
14:53
you and give according to the
14:55
commandment chapter 14 christian
14:58
Assembly on the Lord's day but every
15:00
Lord's day gather yourselves together
15:02
and break bread and give thanksgiving
15:04
after having confessed your
15:06
transgressions that your sacrifice may
15:08
be pure but let no one that is at
15:10
variance with his fellow come together
15:12
with you until they be reconciled that
15:14
your sacrifice may not be profane for
15:17
this is that which was spoken by the
15:19
Lord in every place and time offer to me
15:22
a pure sacrifice for I am a great king
15:25
says the Lord and my name is wonderful
15:27
among the nations chapter 15 bishops and
15:31
deacons Christian reproof therefore
15:33
appoint for yourselves bishops and
15:35
deacons worthy of the Lord menek and not
15:38
lovers of money and truthful and proven
15:41
for they also render to you the service
15:43
of prophets and teachers despise them
15:46
not therefore for they are your honored
15:48
ones together with the prophets and
15:50
teachers and reprove one another not in
15:53
anger but in peace as you have it in the
15:55
gospel but to everyone that acts a miss
15:58
amongst another let no one speak nor let
16:01
him hear anything from you until he
16:03
repents but your prayers and alms and
16:06
all your deeds so do as you have it in
16:09
the Gospel of our Lord chapter 16
16:12
watchfulness the coming of the Lord
16:14
watch for your life's sake let not your
16:16
lamps be quenched nor your loins
16:18
unloosed but be ready for you know not
16:21
the hour in which our Lord comes but
16:23
often shall you come together seeking
16:26
the things which are befitting to your
16:28
souls for the whole time of your faith
16:30
will not profit you if you be not made
16:32
perfect in the last time for in the last
16:35
days false prophets and corruptors shall
16:37
be multiplied and the sheep shall be
16:40
turned into wolves and love shall be
16:42
turned into hate for when lawlessness
16:44
increases they shall hate and persecute
16:46
and betray one another and then shall
16:48
appear the world deceiver as the Son of
16:51
God and shall do signs and wonders and
16:54
the earth shall be delivered into his
16:56
hands and he shall do iniquitous things
16:59
which have never yet come to pass since
17:01
the beginning then shall the creation of
17:03
man come into the fire of trial and many
17:06
shall be made to stumble and shall
17:08
perish but they that endure in their
17:11
faith shall be saved from under the
17:13
curse itself and then shall appear a
17:16
sign of the truth first the sign of an
17:18
outspreading in heaven then the sign of
17:20
the sound of the trumpet and the third
17:23
the resurrection of the dead yet not of
17:25
all but as it is said "The Lord shall
17:27
come and all his saints with him." Then
17:30
shall the world see the Lord coming upon
17:32
the clouds of heaven this has been the
17:35
Daki thank you for listening and God
17:37
bless
