Ultimate Route 66 Breakfast: The St. Louis Slinger!
Oct 29, 2026
Printable Recipe below!
The Slinger got its start in St. Louis diners, built to feed hungry night-shift workers and the after-bar crowd — a cast-iron catch-all meant to fill a plate cheap and a stomach fast. Route 66 runs right through St. Louis, so it's not much of a stretch from that stretch of roadside diners to a chuck wagon skillet — just trade the counter stool for the tailgate.
The St. Louis Slinger has hash browns, chili, hamburger patties, cheese, and eggs. This'll fill up some hungry cowboys!
