A woman, Gail Metwally, was captured on video calmly sitting in a lawn chair, reading a book, as she watched her home consumed by flames—flames she had set herself. Metwally had recently moved into the house after being confined due to mental health concerns. In the months leading up to the incident, numerous reports about her disruptive behavior were made to authorities, but no action was taken. Prior to starting the fire, she had been involved in an argument with other residents on the front porch.
