Hi everyone! preserved. I'm Jenny and welcome to Croctober. So exciting. Today is Saturday
0:37
October 1st, the first day of Croctober. Many slow cooker and instant bot
0:42
recipes to come. It is going to be a great month folks. I will link the
0:46
playlist in the description box below as well as all the channels participating
0:50
There are too many to list so I will put them in the description box below
0:54
for you and the schedule. Also you're gonna want to watch. You're going to want to go to all of these channels, watch all of their Crocktober
1:04
videos and comment on every one of them for your chance to win. On November 1st there'll be a new slow cooker giveaway and I believe we're
1:13
going to do two winners. So those will be chosen out of a random video for the
1:20
month of Crocktober and then we'll be using the YouTube random comment
1:25
picker from that so make sure you comment. All nice things of course. No yucking
1:29
anybody's yum and no making mean comments. Those are the rule. Any rude comments will be deleted
1:36
therefore disqualifying you from your chance to win. That's the rules, man. Okay
1:41
anyway, I'm super excited about it. And today I have a slow cooker recipe for you, and we're
1:48
starting, we're kicking off the month with a soup, and I am going to be making Swiss steak soup
1:54
Now, I love Swiss steak. I like it in the crack pot. I like it in the oven. I love the gravy
1:58
that goes along with it, but it can even better in a soup, so I'm turning it into a soup today
2:04
So pull a chair up to my counter and let's get started. I have one green pepper. I am going
2:10
to cut the green pepper. I know what you're thinking
2:41
It's not very clean to cook with your pet spider
2:57
pet spider. He doesn't eat much, I'll tell you. I'm just putting this right into
3:06
my crock pot. I love dump-and-goes even though I'm gonna sear my meat a smidgen
3:18
I have a quart of tomatoes and these are just chopped tomatoes where I have them and cooked or I have them in the jar
3:36
I now going to put a quart of broth in there which in my case is water And I going to put some bollian in I should have grabbed some broth from outside Also in this making a little shortcut I going to use some onion soup mix
3:56
I forgot I bought these on a sale at Aldi a year ago
4:02
I need to use them up. I found them in the pantry. So I'm going to use two envelopes in here
4:08
This is going to get more broth. That's not all the broth that's going in there. going in there. So I'm going to put those in there. And pearl onions. You can get
4:23
these in your freezer section. I'm going to go ahead and start this. You want to
4:31
cook this on low for 8 to 10 hours. And then I'm going to chop up my meat. I have round steak
4:41
but I've got about a pound and a half of round steak
4:55
Because this is soup, I am dicing the round steak just into bite-sized dices
5:07
All the meat is chopped up. To this, I'm going to add black pepper
5:21
now round steak or bottom round is a really good to use for this because it's a tough
5:31
cut of meat it only is good if it's stewed or slow cooked
5:35
stir this around a little bit the seasonings you can add garlic powder to this onion powder
5:46
whatever you want I'm just going to leave it like that and I'm going to put in some flour
5:50
normally when I'm frying meat I add quartz starch too but this doesn't need to stay
5:55
crunchy this is just to sear it a little bit and get at a head start and put it in the
6:01
hot crock pot There's my pan over there. Heating up. Not ready yet. Give that a few minutes and I'll give my hands a wash
6:35
Okay, I'm just going to let these steer for just a few minutes
7:05
Not going to take longer just tiny bite-sized pieces. That's worthy with the allergies this time
7:35
and I going to transfer those to the crop crop
7:45
I'm going to put the rest of these in
8:29
All right, all the meat is into the top pot
8:48
I'm going to take what's left of the flour in here and put it in this oil
8:53
Then I'll need a little bit more. We're going to make a little root here, just to help thinking this up as it cooked
9:29
Now this is something you're going to have to eyeball because I'm not going to know how much oil you have left in your pan when you're done trying
9:59
for this and I'm just going to put some bullion in it or you can skip this
10:06
step all together and in the end just use a little bit of cornstarch slurry
10:10
Oh that's hot. Okay, I cooked this for about three minutes
10:31
I'm going to go ahead and put in my water. And I'm using water just so it's easier to dump into my crock pot
10:53
And I'm going to go ahead and pour this right in. okay I gonna find my tomato paste I have some leftover tomato paste in my fridge somewhere I gotta dig it out and I gonna put it in here and that like two tablespoons of tomato paste that I going to put in Other than that it already
11:28
cooking, it's on high or low, sorry, low eight to ten hours
11:42
Did you guys grow up with the tomato-based Swiss steak or the beef one? One of them has a tomato
11:47
gravy the other has a beef gravy I love the tomato one at this point you could add
11:50
potatoes as well I am going to make some mashed potatoes and we're gonna serve
11:55
this soup over mashed potatoes because that's my favorite way to eat Swiss
11:59
steak with a tomato gravy okay this has been cooking for maybe six hours-ish
12:10
but it is done look at that it's thickened up not too thick but just
12:15
perfectly thick. I have a hot bowl. I have a hot bowl. I have a bowl
12:28
I have a bowl of mashed potatoes. I'm going to pour this over. Yes, you can put
12:36
potatoes in your soup. I am a mashed potato kind of person. We love mashed potatoes
12:45
always put my stew over mashed potatoes rather than put potatoes in my stew
12:49
Sometimes, sometimes I put potatoes in my stew and still serve them over mashed potatoes
12:56
Oh man, it smells so good. I did taste it and it tastes so good. Oh, I love it
13:09
And there is his bowl. I'm going to have him come out and do a taste test for you
13:13
Okay, I've got your taste tester here. Welcome back once again. I think I just woke up. I'm hungry
13:24
Ready baby. Mm-hmm. Make sure you get this as a mistake. Oh. Oh
13:34
Tomato and green pepper and onion. Oh, look at that. Look at it! Mmm
13:45
Where'd that steak come from? This Swiss steak soup. Perfect, baby
13:57
Normally I leave the Swiss steak big in the bottom and we pull it out with everything. Yep, yep, no
14:02
Look at that. We should just sit here eat the whole thing on camera
14:06
Mm-hmm. Wah-ha. delicious so there you go when your Swiss steak comes out in pieces because it's
14:17
cooked really well you can just do it in soup thank you all right folks that's all
14:24
there is to the Swiss steak soup it is super easy you can switch it around how you
14:28
like it it is so good one of my all-time favorites since the 70s my mom used to
14:34
make it I loved it anyway folks don't forget to check out all the other channels
