trying JAKARTA'S COMMUTER for the first time | Jakarta Kota Old Town

Okay, good morning everybody and welcome back to beautiful Jakarta here in Indonesia

This is my second full day here in this incredible huge city and today I'm going to be trying out the MRT line

and I'm going to be heading north towards North Jakarta. I'm very, very, very excited. There's a lot of food I want to be trying today

and I've heard that the MRT system here in Jakarta is incredible

So we're going to try that. Firstly, I need to go to an Indomart or an Alphomart, I think they're called

to pick up a metro card. Now this card is a public transport system card

which works on the buses, I think, and the metro. So I'm not sure how long I'm going to be here in the city

so it's best if I get both. If I just go to the train station and get a card

it only works for the MRT and maybe I'll use the buses. So first stop is the Indomart to pick up a card

So it's a beautiful morning. Let's go. Do you have metro cards

Yes, metro. No? Okay, thank you. Okay, so that Indomar didn't have it

There's one just here. So hopefully they have it. If not, I think I'm just going to have to get a normal metro card

Salam, Alpaki. Do you have a metro card? No. Card? Card for metro

MRT? Oh, we don't sell. You don't sell? Yes. Okay, thank you

Do you have MRT card? Yeah. MRT card? No. No? Okay, thanks

No one has it. Usually, I've been told you can find them in there, but not any of these

Thank you. Okay, so finally I've got the MRT card. I just picked it up from the station

This will only work in the actual station. It won't work on the buses, but alhamdulillah I've got it

we can find theardan purchase pleasure So the plan is to actually head to the old town so I'm going to get off at the final stop which is Jakarta Kota

So just six stops later and I have arrived here in the Carta Contest

I'm going to grab some coffee and then wander around the old part of town

I so happy to be back here. I love this part of town so, so much. There's so much history and so much culture here

A big explosion of culture I'll talk to you outside Hey guys, this train station is beautiful

all right you guys I'm finally back in the old town it's good to be back oh it's super windy

so overall thoughts on the metro metro is insanely good it's so easy so easy as a foreigner to come

and maneuver around I think it was about six stops and I arrived here at the end of the line

you can also go really far south and there's also another line I think I took the blue line or the

red line I'm not 100% sure but the metro overall was very very clean very easy to use

very quiet people on there were very nice they had a nice few conversations with the locals and it was great so overall great first impression

okay i've just made it here finally to the old square here with the history museum behind me

most of this square is actually surrounded by dutch structures from the 17th century

the Dutch played a crucial role in its history here in Jakarta

The buildings here are beautiful, people cycling around, a lot of locals here enjoying the beautiful weather

and it's stunning. So I'm going to grab a coffee and take in this pretty beautiful view

Wow. This whole area by the river is stunning, full of these incredible buildings

which are being engulfed by the vines and the flowers. it's stunning wow and it's so quiet there's no one here water looks so

enticing I'm so hot right now I don't think I've sweated so much in any country in my whole life but it's worth it it's so beautiful

eating my noodles and chatting to the really friendly locals and one of the guys one of the

elder guys who i was sat with he walked off for about 10 minutes and came back with a hat and a

t-shirt for me apparently local indonesian as a gift as a present and he said welcome to indonesia

i feel like crying everyone here is so kind i can't the generosity here is

amazing and i'm so blessed to meet such incredible people that was

I have a lot of words, it's so kind, like, really nice

It's only my second day here and Indonesia already has my heart
