New flag versus old flag

Right, so we're shown a country's newest flag and their oldest flag. So Venezuela, 2006 is what they're currently using

I didn't realize that flag was this young. But in 1810, their flag looked like this

Similar colors, but the new ones definitely better as a flag. Next, we've got Saudi Arabia, 1973, much younger than I expected once again

And then 1932, it kind of looked like the Pakistan flag. Still very similar, though, but interesting to see

Morocco, okay, I'm interested, I'm intrigued. 1666 is the modern, hang on, what

this was it from the back, but it turns out that they just must have had a red flag. All right, that's fine

Ireland, 922. But then in 1542, it looked like that. Totally different

Israel? Whoa. I don't like that. It's like a clip art version

That's horrendous. Not a big fan of Israel. Hungary, totally mixed it up. Hungary's oldest flag from over a thousand years ago, looking quite a bit like the

Qatar and Bahrain flags. All right, what we've got next? That's going to be Netherlands, isn't it

Let's have a look. Netherlands pretty similar. They just simplified it, which I think is the right choice

Bahamas. No way. Oh! Is that where the Jolly Roger flag originated

Oh, this is crazy. So the Republic of Pirates was based in what is now Bahamas

That's really interesting. Syria, 1980, compared to... Yeah, that still looks nice

I think the 1930s flag looks nice. Sri Lanka. Um, ooh, which do I prefer

I think I just like both. The lion's the best bit. It's on both. There we go

Cameroon 975. Whoa, they had a big elephant. I like the big elephant

That looks cool, although it was probably colonial, which is less. cool of course Nepal always keeping it original with their flag shapes Very nice Gotta respect it Poland have really switched things up I mean that quite cool because you don see a shape like this on many flags And the Poland flag is far from unique so I like that one Okay China oldest flag has got to be very old Let see Yeah 1644 And it looks absolutely amazing Brazil have a pretty US flag which I once again assume is somewhat colonial What the US oldest flag Oh that terrible I glad they changed it That is horrendous It makes me a bit sick actually to look at India have had so many different flags

over the years, but this was their first one, 1858. Obviously, definitions are difficult

but I reckon India have definitely had a flag older than 1858. Egypt, 1250 is what that one looked

like. So they skipped their birds, that's nice. Turkey totally mixed it up from their 1037 flag

France, 1976, compared to 987, long time ago, old flag. Germany, that's a cool looking bird

This is from the 1400s. I mean, that looks epic. It kind of looks a lot like the Albania flag

then we've got Greece. Okay, fair enough. That's fine, I suppose. The new one's definitely better, though

Then we've got Italy. What did Italy change? 1861. Same colours, they just minimalized it

Ukraine have kept their colour scheme as well, similar to Poland's old flag in terms of the style

Ooh, United Kingdom, 1801, to 519. That's got to be one of the oldest flags that we've had on here

That's way better than our flag. I reckon we change it back. Spain, Spain's a nice iconic flag

It's just a bit too complicated that one. Russia. Ooh, I'm not sure I like that. I don't know
