Let's answer the two recent IELTS speaking topics in part 1 about clothes and in a hurry
0:08
Let's start answering the questions for clothes. What's your favorite color of clothes
0:16
First answer. I don't have any particular color preference. I can wear clothes of any color as long as I feel comfortable
0:24
But it doesn't mean that I don't mind color coordination. Of course, I can't wear a shirt and pants whose colors are too contrasting like orange and blue or purple and yellow
0:35
I also make sure that my top is color coordinated with my short pants or trousers
0:41
Second answer. I'm more into black, white, and gray. Simply because they are neutral colors which means they work well with other colors
0:51
Besides, I lack fashion sense so wearing clothes with neutral colors saves me from making poor choices of color matching
1:01
What kind of clothes do you usually wear? This answer can be used for both men or women
1:07
I love casual types because they're comfortable, not too ordinary or too ceremonial
1:12
And for me, they can never be out of style. I like that kind of style because it's suitable for everyday use like for a walk, for casual social gatherings or activities, for shopping, and more
1:25
It's simple yet pleasing to the eye and very comfortable. Next answer is exclusive for men
1:34
Well, I'm a big fan of preppy style as it helps me express myself
1:39
That is wearing a polo shirt or madras shirt matched with chino short pants or trousers and loafers
1:47
It's relatively dressed up for casual settings but relatively dressed down for formal ones
1:56
Let's have for women. That's a hard question as I have many kinds of clothes that I enjoy wearing
2:02
But let me just talk about the style instead. I have so much love with preppy style to be specific
2:08
I often wear a collared t-shirt matched with an a-line skirt or a tunic top paired with simple leggings and flats
2:17
What kind of clothes do you dislike wearing? Those clothes that can make me feel less confident or uncomfortable
2:24
They could be clothes that are just too loose or tight or too formal
2:29
Honestly, wearing too formal clothes is really restricting as I need to pay attention to my movement or action
2:35
In other words, I have to be more appropriate to look decent and I just don't enjoy it
2:42
Do you wear the same style of clothes on weekdays and weekends
2:46
Of course not. Normally on weekdays, I wear either casual clothes or my uniform and on weekends, I usually dress down
2:55
I just wear a plain t-shirt in shorts or jogger pants except when I need to attend some social gatherings since I really need to wear something smart
3:05
So the clothes that I wear on weekdays and weekends are completely different then
3:11
Here's another way to answer that question. Not at all. That's impossible
3:16
I wear my company's uniform from Monday to Friday. I can't imagine wearing my uniform 7 days a week
3:23
That's just hilarious. Anyway, on weekends, I love wearing jeans and a t-shirt especially if I hang out with friends simply because they're comfortable and that kind of fashion will never go outdated
3:35
If only we could wear anything we want at work, then I would surely go for a t-shirt and a pair of jeans
3:42
Now, let's proceed to answering the topic in a hurry. What do you always do in a hurry and why
3:49
First answer, there's nothing. I'm a very organized person. I make sure to prepare things in advance because I simply hate doing things in a rush
3:59
For me, doing things in a hurry all the time is stressful and it's a sign of being irresponsible
4:05
I think being in a hurry all the time surely takes a toll on one's mental health
4:10
And because I give importance to my mental health, I mean, I don't want to be stressed out. I never do things hurriedly
4:18
Second answer, most of the time, cooking, especially the mornings and weekdays
4:23
I really don't have enough time to cook in the morning because in the first place, I'm not an early bird
4:29
I know it's just a matter of time management but until now, I'm not changing my ways
4:34
I still hate to hate late and not organizing the things that I have to do the next day
4:39
I admit, I'm indolent. Is doing things in a hurry good? First answer, like I've just said, I'm not into doing things in a rush personally
4:50
That's just mentally distressing. However, I admit that there are things that are beyond our control that no matter how organized we are
4:57
we still get trapped on running behind schedule and that's because of unexpected circumstances like
5:03
you suddenly get ill or there are emergencies that need your attention
5:08
Those things surely make you put your tasks off and once you have the opportunity to continue doing them
5:14
you have no choice but to do things in a hurry. Second answer, not at all for some people but for me, it's the opposite
5:23
I find it good because it gives me an adrenaline rush which helps me concentrate on doing things well
5:29
I like the feeling that I'm being rushed as I can think quickly and I feel energized as a result, I produce good results
5:39
What kind of things you would never do in a hurry? I believe things that could change the direction of my life like taking a licensure exam or making life-changing decisions
5:49
These kinds of things need a good amount of time to prepare, study and reflect
5:55
Otherwise, I'll end up failing. So, whenever I encounter any of these two, I always take my time
6:03
Can you do things quickly when you're in a hurry? First answer, not at all as I easily get stressed out if I work under pressure
6:11
I can't focus and I feel like my brain can't function properly
6:15
And because of that, I prepare things beforehand so I won't be in a situation where I just get stressed
6:23
Second answer, well that depends on the tasks. If I'm very much familiar with the tasks, let's say house chores or the tasks that I do all the time at work
6:32
then I can complete them even if there's time constraint. However, if the task is new to me, then that's impossible
6:41
Now here are some phrases that you can use for the topic in a hurry. First, in a tearing hurry
6:46
It simply means to go somewhere very quickly, usually because you're late
6:51
Example, he left in a tearing hurry this morning, as a result, he forgot to bring his lunchbox
6:58
Next, in a desperate hurry. We were in a desperate hurry going to the airport yesterday and thankfully we didn't miss our flight
7:07
You can also say, in a terrible hurry. Example, I don't want to be in a terrible hurry catching a train again
7:15
It's just stressful, so I decided to wake up early. You can use any of these when you want to describe the situation when you're in a hurry
7:24
Familiarize these expressions and practice using them in your answers. Using any of these expressions can help you boost your mark for the criterion lexical resource
