The Internet Says These Artists Are “Trapped” In The Khia Asylum
Jul 8, 2026
While the phrase “Khia asylum” may sound totally bizarre, it's become one of the internet's most talked-about inside jokes among pop music fans.
Artists frequently mentioned in the conversation include Bebe Rexha and Ava Max, although the label is entirely fan-created and often widely debated online.
The so-called "Khia asylum" is the fictional place where these artists are jokingly said to be "trapped" while waiting for their next big mainstream moment.
In recent years, several musicians have even embraced the joke themselves. In 2026, Bebe Rexha shared a voice note titled "Khia asylum day 3051," joking, "It's hard here. They make us run on the treadmill every day with the heels on. I heard Sabrina got out. Zara, Charli, they never looked back, and my fatass, flop ass is still in here."
And even Charli XCX has played along too. During a screening of her 2026 satire-music film 'The Moment', she joked that she'd happily revisit the "asylum" to see all of her "cool friends."
