The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under Mark Wigglesworth perform the chest-puffing patriotic anthem, 'Jerusalem' by Charles Hubert Parry. Based on a poem by William Blake, in which the author imagines Jesus stepping foot on English soil, the piece has become the unofficial anthem of England, and is frequently sung at sporting events in which the national team feature. Performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Classic FM Live, the piece was filmed for Sky Arts and broadcast in 2025. © Sky Arts | Classic FM, 2025 Text: And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon Englands mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On Englands pleasant pastures seen! And did the Countenance Divine, Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here, Among these dark Satanic Mills? Bring me my Bow of burning gold: Bring me my arrows of desire: Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my Chariot of fire!
