Matthew Perry’s family and friends have reflected on the late actor’s addiction battle in a trailer for the upcoming documentary, ‘The One About Matthew Perry.’ The trailer features archival footage in which Perry discusses his ambition to entertain, become famous, and land his iconic role as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends.’ “I was extremely happy when I got famous,” Perry recalls in one clip. “Then I was like, ‘Uh-oh, this didn’t fix what’s inside me.’” In the documentary, his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, opens up about his struggle with loneliness: “My brother would talk about that feeling of emptiness or loneliness that he couldn’t quite fill.” “He spent $7 million trying to get sober — that’s how seriously he took his disease,” Bowick emphasizes in the Netflix film. Perry died in 2023 from the acute effects of ketamine, which caused him to accidentally drown. Bowick and longtime friends Roger Castillo and David Pressman speak publicly about Perry for the first time in the documentary, alongside several former Hollywood collaborators.
