Hey, Oscar fans
0:02
Welcome back to the Husker Big Red YouTube channel. I'm Chris Peterson. And joining me, as always, is Danny Gillette
0:07
And we're back for another episode of our podcast. And today we're going to be looking ahead to the big matchup on Saturday
0:12
between the Nebraska Cornhuskers who are ranked 25th in the coaches poll
0:16
We are going to talk about that. And 16th ranked Indiana. Indiana 16th in the AP poll, 18th in the coaches poll
0:22
So a huge matchup for the Huskers, a chance to end their losing streak against ranked teams
0:27
a chance to clinch a bowl berth and kind of thrust themselves. maybe into the playoff conversation a little bit
0:31
So we'll get into it here in just a second. Before we do, make sure that you guys hit the like button
0:36
hit the subscribe button, get into the comment section. And Danny, how are you doing on this Thursday morning, my friend
0:41
I'm doing good. It's going to be nice to have Nebraska football back this weekend
0:46
There were a lot of good games last weekend, but I'm excited to get things back going
0:51
and see how this team has adjusted following the bye weekend. Yeah, it was interesting
0:56
Last week it was kind of fun. There was some good games that Oregon-Ohouse game was really interesting
0:59
It's interesting that the NCAA changed that rule about the 12th man on the field
1:04
the substitution thing with Dan Langing. I don't know if you saw that he. Yeah, I did. I thought it was a smart play by landing, but, you know, I mean
1:13
yeah, it's interesting. Well, I just, it's funny that they changed the, that you can change a rule that quickly
1:18
Like, I thought there was, I don't know, more of a process that you had to go to
1:22
But I guess if it's, if it happens to Ohio State, they get those rule changes put in real quickly
1:28
But at any rate, and it'll be. Speaking of Ohio State, before we get to Indiana, we are going to be facing the Buckeyes next week
1:34
And so Nebraska is going to be on Big Dune kickoff back-to-back weekend
1:38
So kind of a chance for the program to showcase itself a little bit. And yeah, Indiana 6 and O, man, and the more I dig into this team, the more I realize that, you know, they're legit
1:47
This is a, they average over 500 yards on offense, 300 yards passing, 200 yards on the ground
1:53
They're averaging 5.1 yards for carry. The defense has been pretty stout, too, for the most part
1:58
they're forcing takeaways. Their scoring defenses ranked a lot higher than I thought it was going to be
2:03
But they also haven't played a ton of competition. They gave up, you know, 28 points to Maryland
2:08
I can't remember exactly 24 to Northwestern. So there's signs that this defense is not, not
2:13
I don't think it's definitely on the same level as Nebraska. So in any rate, what are your thoughts initially on Indiana
2:19
Well, you know, it starts with good quarterback playing. Curtis Rourke has certainly, you know, been, you know, a key factor in their success
2:27
He averages almost 11 yards per pass, attempts, 14 touchdowns, two interceptions, you know, a 73.8 completion percentage
2:37
And, you know, I get that in the NBA may not have played, you know, tougher teams, but at the same time, those numbers are still pretty good
2:44
So, you know, I'm very curious to see how Nebraska, you know, gets pressure on Rourke
2:50
And, you know, also, you know, how their defense stacks up against our offense
2:56
and, you know, I think those are going to be two interesting subplots heading into Saturday
3:01
Yeah, in Indiana, like, they haven't played the toughest schedule. I mean, their big 10 opponents have been Maryland, UCLA, Northwestern
3:08
So, and but the thing is they've won all their games by at least 14 points
3:12
So it's not like they're like, you know, barely getting by these teams. They're, you know, putting up a lot of points
3:17
I mean, they're scoring offense. They're scoring 47 points a game. I mean, they're second in college football right now in terms of scoring offense
3:23
So it is going to be a big challenge for this. this team. And you mentioned it, you know, one of my first keys is going to be getting pressure on
3:30
Rourke, on Curtis Rourke. And you look at pass protection. Indiana's allowed six sacks through six
3:35
games. I think they're like tied for 12 or somewhere. They're in the top 20. Nebraska, on the other
3:39
hand, is tied for seven in sacks as a team. We've got 20 total sacks. And I think that right there is
3:45
going to tell the story of the game. Is Nebraska able to get pressure on Rourke? Are they able to get those
3:48
sacks? Is Indiana going to be able to block Nebraska's front? Because they have not faced a front or a pass
3:53
rush, you know, anything like Nebraska. So I think. that's going to be the key matchup
3:58
And if Nebraska wins that matchup and can get pressure, I feel good about their chances on Saturday
4:02
And I think it's important to note that Rourke had 25 touchdowns of four interceptions
4:06
in 2022. He had over 3,000 yards. And then last season, he had 11 touchdowns, five interceptions
4:13
but over 2,000 passing yards. So this isn't just a flash in the pan season for him
4:18
He's been pretty consistent throughout his entire collegiate career. So like you said, getting pressure is going to be paramount for Nebraska
4:26
defensively because if we let Rourke have time in the pocket to throw, he's going to make place
4:32
And another key for me is going to be the running game because you look at, yes, we got to get
4:37
Nebraska has to get pressure on Curtis Rourke, but on both sides of things, I think Nebraska needs
4:42
to outrush Indiana in this game. And the Hoosier are averaging 5.1 yards per attempt on offense
4:48
Nebraska is allowing 2.6. If they can force, you know, Rourke and these guys to be, you know, in third and long, second
4:53
and long all day, that's going to make it a lot easier to get pressure. and on the same token, if Nebraska is able to run the football
4:58
I mean, Maryland and Northwestern both rushed for over 100 yards against Indiana
5:03
So Nebraska can definitely do the same thing. And if they can get 150 yards or so, keep that offense off the field
5:09
you know, reduce the overall number of plays. I think that that's a way Nebraska can, you know, play some complimentary football
5:15
help out their defense and also, you know, put points on the board with the running game. And I think commitment to the run offensively for Nebraska is going to be important
5:23
We've seen, you know, instances where, you know, they seem to fall in love with the passing game and Dylan Raola, and rightfully so
5:29
But at the same time, I think, you know, consistent running and getting the running backs involved is going to be a key ingredient, if nothing else, just to control the football and take time off the clock and establish the time of possession dominance that I believe is going to be really important
5:43
Yeah, time of possession. You need to win time of possession battle. And then another key for me is going to be winning the turnover battle
5:50
Both teams have done an exceptional job of not turning the football over
5:54
they both average 0.07 turnovers a game. So basically under a turnover per game, Nebraska's done a little bit of a better job taking it away from teams
6:02
averaging 1.7 takeaways. Illinois is at 1.2. And again, that comes down to the pressure
6:07
You know, a lot of times when you see, you know, interceptions or things like that happen
6:11
it's because the defensive line is getting pressure on the quarterback. So if they can do that, you know, Tommy Hill, there's hopefully a chance that he can play
6:17
Say, right, maybe some of these, one of these guys can get an interception, you know
6:21
get a big play. York's only had two all season, pretty similar to Dylan Riola in that sense
6:26
But whoever wins the turnover battle, I think, is probably going to win this game. At the very least, I don't think Nebraska can win this game while losing the turnover battle
6:34
So I think they've at least got to be even or plus one to win on Saturday
6:38
And, you know, the Big Ten Conference knows about, you know, Ty Robinson and Nash Hutmacher as, you know, the guys I can get pressure on the quarterback
6:46
James Williams might be the best kept secret although not a secret for long if he had another game like he did against you know Budkers and you know he really was able to provide pressure on a day when Robinson and
7:00
Hutmacher played well, but they didn't bring that pass rushing element. They focused more inside, making tackles inside
7:07
So I think a big game from James Williams against Indiana is going to be, you know
7:12
crucial for this defense's success. And I'd love to see him continue to build off of what he was able to do just a couple weeks ago
7:19
Yeah, and James Williams is the other thing to Prince Well and Mameleon. He's not getting quite as many sacks, but if you look at his pressure, you know, win rate
7:26
it's not that far behind James Williams. So if Nebraska can get in a situation where they can have Prince Well and James Williams
7:32
pin in their ears back, you know, rushing the quarterback, then you've got Nash and Ty Robinson pushing the pocket from the middle
7:38
That's a good situation. So hopefully, you know, they can get there. They've got to get some hits on the quarterback
7:44
But yeah, I think that's a good segue. James Williams has been kind of an X factor this season for Nebraska
7:48
but looking at this matchup, what are going to be some of the X factors for both teams, I guess
7:53
starting with the Huskers, what do you think is going to be an X factor in this match? It could be a player, could be, you know, the kicking game, any element of this matchup
8:00
You know, I think establishing the running game is going to be important to this matchup
8:05
just because it'll provide some balance offensively. I know I just talked about it, but I feel like at times we fall in love with Dylan Rayola
8:13
and the passing offense, rightfully so. But I feel like, you know, getting the running backs more involved
8:18
And, you know, also just trying to control the tempo, control the pace is going to be important, especially in the second half
8:26
I'd love to see Nebraska play a complete game of football and not just score in the first or second half
8:32
And, you know, I think getting the running game involved and, you know, moving the ball forward is going to be important
8:38
Yeah, actually, I'm going to agree with you. I'm going to single out somebody individually
8:42
Emmett Johnson, I feel like this is a game where Emmett Johnson could have a really big impact just because he has that ability
8:48
to get those explosive runs. We've seen that over the course of the Big Ten play
8:52
especially. He's been the guy to get more explosive runs than Dante Dowdell or even
8:56
Ramirez Johnson, which they've both gotten some. But Dowdell is kind of more the grinded out type of back where
9:01
and I feel like, look at what Roman Hemby of Maryland, he averaged almost 10 yards of carry against this defense
9:08
So there are plays to be had. I feel like this offensive line, you know, is kind of finding its groove
9:13
You know, Gunnar get too low doing a solid job out there at left tackle. And I just feel like that we're going to see
9:18
Emmett Johnson get a couple of explosive runs, you know, fit 10, you know, plus 10, plus 15 runs that are going to help this team kind of establish
9:26
itself and get some more points offensively. I just feel like whether it's the screen game or kind of some delay stuff, I just feel like
9:32
we're going to see him make a couple of explosive plays on Saturday. I do have some reservations about the offensive line in terms of run blocking
9:38
I don't think they've been their best, so I'm curious to see what they'll be able to do on Saturday
9:44
Yeah, and that's where, you know, it's interesting with Micah Mazuka, because he's clearly
9:48
you know, a better run blocker than Henry Leptasi. I don't think there's any debate about that
9:52
And they brought him in on that short yardage package last week. And he was a big reason why they were successful
9:58
So I don't know. I wouldn't hate if he eventually, you know, worked his way back into the lineup
10:02
even if there was a little bit of a rotation. You know, some teams do that
10:06
You know, you take one series. You know, Tossey takes the next one. But yeah, I am interested to see that because I do think they need to be a little bit better
10:13
in that regard as well, I agree. Because as much as, you know, people criticize Marcus Satterford for not running the football at points, he has had running plays
10:23
They just haven't been successful. So I think that kind of clouds the judgment sometimes. And I guess one of my other big X factors, my second one, is to get Jacori Barney the football
10:34
You know I've been singing his praises pretty much throughout the season. And he's just a dynamic speed playmaker
10:40
I love him on that sweet play. And, you know, getting him the football as often as possible and just
10:45
you know, having him utilize his speed, especially in one-on-one or open field situations
10:51
you know, I think he could really be an important piece for Saturday. Yeah, and then, you know, another X factor, whether it's, you know, going to be positive or negative
10:59
I think it's going to be the kicking game. I mean, we'll see what happens. I mean, Matt Ruhl talked about, you know, some adjustments
11:06
They had an old Nebraska assistant coach in there helping out this week
11:10
and I do like that rule is willing to look at different things, look at different players
11:13
He said he was excited, quote, were his words about how the special teams were going to perform
11:18
I don't really know if Tristan Albano is going to be out there, but hopefully, you know, if we get in a spot where, you know, you're in a 35-yard field goal or something like that, Nebraska can take advantage because it's games like this were, you know, a poor special team's performance could really hurt you, it feels like
11:34
Yeah, absolutely. And just to even see the ball go through the uprights consistently, I think would do wonders for the kickers' confidence, too, because they have struggled this
11:43
year. But, you know, I think another, you know, key player for Saturday is going to be Isaiah
11:52
Nayer. He's established himself as, you know, one of Dylan Ryola's favorite weapons, and he's been
11:57
able to make some really big plays and get touchdown catches. So I think, you know, he is going to be
12:03
somebody that is going to need to step up and continue to play at a high level on Saturday
12:08
Yeah, and this passing game, you know, it's going to have to rev itself up. I mean, we've seen it
12:12
You know, they almost threw for 300 yards against Illinois in that overtime loss
12:15
but they're going to have to pick it up offensively. And I think they're ready. I mean, this defense from Illinois or from Indiana is not great
12:23
I mean, they are only allowing 11 points per game. So, I mean, or 14 points per game, excuse me
12:29
which ranks them 11th in the country, got my numbers a little mixed up there. But you look at some of the teams they played
12:34
I mean, Florida International, Western Illinois, they held them under 10. I mean, Charlotte scored 14
12:39
But, yeah, Maryland and Northwestern scored 20. and 24 points. So I feel that Nebraska should be able to move the ball on these guys
12:46
So in that regard, let's get to some bold predictions. You know, we'll fire off a few of these. I'll start. My first bowl prediction
12:53
I think Dylan Raola, as we were just on this topic, is going to throw for 300 yards on
12:57
Saturday. I just think it's going to turn into a little bit more of a shootout
13:01
And I think Nebraska's going to be able to run the football, like I said, with Emmett Johnson
13:06
And that's going to lead to some opportunities to, you know, actually really play action
13:09
turn your back to the defense, hit some guy like Jacori Barney, Isaiah Nayar, Jalen Lloyd
13:16
I could really see Jaylen Lloyd. I've been waiting for him to hit like a 50-yard play, you know, like we saw in the spring game
13:22
Maybe this week will be it. But I really feel like this is the week that Dylan Rayo Will get 300 yards
13:28
You took mine, so I'm going to have to think of one on the spot here. Isaiah Nayar and Jamal Banks will both have touchdown catches on Saturday
13:35
You know, they've established themselves. I mean, you mentioned trying to get Jaylon Lloyd more involved
13:39
I think for better or for worse, you know, Banks and Neyer have been Raola's favorite targets
13:44
and that has you know kind of limited the target share for some of the other wide receivers But you know Banks and Banks and Neyer have played well So I think they going to get a touchdown catch each on Saturday because they established themselves in the passing game
14:01
I like that prediction because Indiana is just not a great pass defense
14:05
And I do think that these receivers, Banks and Air especially, they're really good at getting the ball, playing the ball in the air
14:11
So I'm excited to see how they do. I'm going to piggyback, excuse me, off my prediction
14:17
And I'm going to go ahead and say that Jaylon Lloyd does get a touchdown in this game. And I'm going to say it's like a plus 25-yard touchdown, whether it's, you know, one of those
14:25
crossers or something. I just think with all the other weapons, you know, you got to defend Jacary Barney
14:30
You got to defend Nair. You got to defend banks. You got to worry about Thomas Bedoni
14:34
There's a lot of different guys you got to worry about on this offense. And I just feel like, man, you got to have a lot of good corners to stick with Jaylon Lloyd
14:40
and at some point, I really want to see, you know, Raola hit like a 50-yard bomb
14:45
Maybe it happens this week, but I just feel like Jaylen Lloyd at some point is going to catch one of those
14:49
kind of like he did last year, break it off for a touchdown run. So I'm going to say it happens this week, breaks a tackle, boom, touchdown
14:55
James Williams will have at least two sacks on Saturday. My bold prediction, I mean, he's going to continue to go on that hot streak and, you know
15:02
continue to see his stock rise, I think, with Saturday's performance. I'm going to say, and I don't know how bold of a predict
15:10
Testament this is, but I believe that Nebraska will hold Indiana under 100 yards and they will
15:15
continue their streak of not allowing a rushing touchdown. So they're the only team right now in
15:19
college football that has not allowed a rushing touchdown. That's our black shirt defense for Nebraska. And I think they keep that streak intact on Saturday. It's like Ty Robinson said
15:27
when they get close, they just don't get in. He put it very simply. And I think Indiana is going
15:32
to have a rude awakening when they're trying to run the football on Saturday. It's funny because
15:35
Brian Bouchini got a black shirt and even he can tackle well. So everybody can tackle well on that
15:39
defense and yeah I think that's a good prediction I'm not sure
15:44
about under 100 yards but I can see the no rushing touchdowns under 100 yards is just
15:47
hard to do you know so I'm trying to think of one for special teams
15:52
I'm going to say Nebraska will make all its field goals on Saturday that's my prediction
15:59
that is very bold that is just like italicize you know all caps bold but
16:05
Nebraska will make all its field goals on Saturday I think I had that
16:09
last week, except I put, I think that I put that they won't miss any. And so even though they didn't make a field goal, I still technically took it
16:17
They didn't miss any kicks. So that was my bold prediction was that they would not miss any kicks last week
16:21
And I guess my bold prediction for special teams, no blocks. We're not going to see a blocked punt or a blocked kick today, which shouldn't be a bold prediction
16:29
But when you have, what, four blocks in two weeks, I mean, to go a game without one would be
16:33
would be nice. But it's still, I mean, you have to, you have to be a little bit, you know, excited
16:39
I'm not excited, but just like tickled at the fact that, you know, you had a team, yeah, Nebraska had two kicks blocked in consecutive games
16:46
and they won both games, and they were big 10 conference games. So I think that there's definitely some silver lining there
16:51
Yeah, they're finding ways to win, and they're finding ways to win
16:56
and they're learning how to handle adversity, which is something that previous teams
17:00
would not and could not have done. So there's always a positive there. And I think, too, it's showing that they're a better overall team, right
17:08
because the better you get as a team, the more leeway you have, right
17:13
the more mistakes you can make. Like Ohio State can afford to, like, you know, let a team score like 17 unanswered points
17:18
to start the game. Not saying that you want to, but they could still come back and win that game, right
17:22
Whereas, you know, Nebraska might be a little more challenged in doing that. So, you know, the better you get as a team
17:27
I feel like the more you're able to overcome. Not that you want to make those mistakes, you don't want to have kicks blocked, obviously
17:32
but it's still a good sign. I think that you can kind of overcome those things. It is interesting looking at this matchup, Indiana, is a six and a half point favorite
17:41
You know, going into Saturday, the over under is 51. So, you know, Vegas kind of expecting something like not a super shootout, but kind of in the 20s
17:50
So, yeah, let's get into, unless you do you have any other bold predictions that you want to make before we get to our final score prediction here
17:58
I'll do one for Indiana. Kurt Signetti will be a finalist for Coach of the Year
18:03
Yeah, definitely. He's a good coach. I like him. like him he definitely should be coached the year and yeah there's definitely part of me you know as a michigan fan
18:11
that's like man we should just got that guy i mean i know that didn't work out that way obviously he didn't
18:14
even know like he was going to be available but you know if uh if charon more does not work out for
18:20
michigan i would call i would call kurt signetti and he wins everywhere he goes and he has a swagger
18:25
that his players buy into so i mean i'm not trying to like you know say but like he definitely
18:31
i feel like somebody in the big ten is going to steal this guy away from india like he's not saying Indiana forever. So enjoy it, enjoy them while you have him. Who's your fans? Because it's not
18:39
going to be for long, in my opinion. He's going to be. I don't think so either. And, you know
18:43
like I said, he's a winner everywhere he goes. He has a great energy. The players love it. So I'm
18:49
curious to see where he ends up in a couple of years. But it is going to be interesting to see
18:53
what happens. Because I think whoever wins this game is going to be, you know, in the
18:57
playoff conversation, at least for a little bit. I mean, you know, if Nebraska wins this game
19:01
it's going to be a whole week of hype about Nebraska, Ohio State. And if Indiana does, they're 7 and 0, and they're in the top 15
19:08
So it's like, I do think that that's kind of interesting. I'm not saying that Nebraska is going to make the playoffs or any stuff like that
19:14
But if they could win this game and then they could just be competitive next week
19:19
then you're at least, you know, you're what, six and two. And you're probably ranked
19:23
And I mean, you're at least in the, you're in the mix, right? Like if you're, you know, like a golf tournament sense
19:28
like if you're making the back nine turn at the Masters, you're like within five or six shots. You know, not saying you have a great chance
19:33
but if you make a couple eagles, you know, you're in the mix, and that's where I feel Nebraska can be in the playoff race
19:38
if they win this game on Saturday. Yeah, no, I definitely think they can be
19:43
And obviously we have the Ohio State matchup next week, so that's going to be tough. But, you know, still, they could very much be in the playoff conversation moving forward
19:52
and that would do wonders for the program. And honestly, put Matt Ruhl and coach the year finalist category as well
19:58
I guess my last bowl prediction, I do think that Nebraska is going to intercept Curtis Rourke, at least one time
20:04
Maybe not a huge bold prediction, but whether it's Sayre Wright or even Hartsog, you know, kind of coming off the bench
20:11
if he has to come off the bench with Buford, one of those guys I think is going to get an interception
20:16
because I do think that James Williams and Prince Well and those guys are going to get pressure on Curtis work that he has not seen at least this season
20:24
So he's a good quarterback, though. I mean, Frank Solich, Frank Solich was talking him up in an article
20:28
he, or interview he did with Steve Sipple. So I'm like, man, this, this guy's a player
20:32
And, yeah, Kurt Zedney is a big time coach. You don't, you don't go to Indiana and turn them into a winner overnight
20:37
But they got he was smart too and he brought a lot of players over from James Madison I mean Indiana number one receiver this year is a guy who had over 1 yards last season for James Madison So you know it like and that like the starting running back too Tyson and
20:52
Lotton, he came over from James Madison. So if you have guys that can adapt to your system, that definitely can help you transition
21:00
So now let's transition to our score prediction. Like we said, Indiana, six and a half point favorite for this one
21:06
Danny, what's your prediction, man? I don't like the six and a half point fair for Indiana
21:13
I'm actually going to go Nebraska 3121. 31, Nebraska. I agree with that
21:20
I definitely think I'm confident that Nebraska will cover the spread on Saturday
21:25
I'm not as confident that they will win the game, but I am going to predict them to win
21:30
I'm going to say 2724 Nebraska, which makes me realize that I'm predicting us to make two field goals
21:36
I know. Like, you really wanted to come down to a field goal? I don't know. But you know what
21:41
Things get crazy. So I think that they'll get like a, you know
21:45
a goal line situation where they like a goal to go where maybe they'll get held to a field goal
21:49
And I think, you know, that's like an extra point. And John Hall has it. I know he's missed field goals, but he hasn't, he's not been horrible
21:55
He's making extra points. And so, yeah, I do think he's finally going to make one
22:00
And maybe Tristan Ovano will be healthy. But I think we'll get like a 10 point lead
22:04
And then, you know, they'll do the Indiana will come back. And then I think that they'll have a drive
22:09
you know, similar to Rutgers where they have a chance to win the game. And I think our defensive line, black shirts are going to close it out
22:15
And we're going to end our losing streak against ranked teams and clinch a bowl game in the same day
22:20
So if that happens, like, that'll be the happiest moment I've had as a Nebraska fan
22:24
And it seriously might be a decade. Like, I mean, since the ball, Pellini era, possibly
22:28
I can see it happening. I can see it happening. And, you know, it would be nice to get that sixth win early in the season and, you know
22:36
get a chance to not relax the rest of the season, but know that we at least have have a bowl game secured
22:41
Yeah, it would, it just would be, then we can move on to a different goal, you know
22:44
then it could be focused on like trying to get, you know, eight wins or getting to the play
22:48
just like we can talk about something else. We don't have to sit there and be like, we're the, we're the last power four team that
22:53
hasn't made a bowl game since whenever. Like even Vanderbilt's, I think, been to a bowl game since, like, we have last
22:59
So we got, we just got to end it. And it's kind of like one of those, it's like the more, you know, it's like baseball
23:06
you know, you're trying to clinch with the magic number. like the more the more you lose like the farther you get into it the harder it is to get that last one so i just
23:12
wanted to see him get out of the way and it would be great to just beat indiana and i think that too would
23:17
truly like really announce like hey nebraska football we're back like we're finally back like we beat a
23:23
good team on the road and we're going to see what we can do against ohio state next week so that would be like a dream a dream scenario i agree and it's like when my red sox broke their 86 year old
23:33
curse you were waiting every year and then finally 2004 was the year and everybody was so happy so
23:39
relieved and it kind of you know lifted a weight off off of the shoulders of the team and i think
23:44
making a bowl game would lift the weight off the shoulders of the program and i mean it would do
23:49
wonders for recruiting as well it would it would do a lot for recruiting just uh you know you can
23:54
see that the recruiting momentum building and uh this team hasn't really won that much yet i mean
23:58
five and one is five and one but you know it's it's still it's not it's not nine and three you know and
24:03
And I truly want to see these guys, like Ty Robinson, Nash Hotmaker, I mean, Jamarie Butler
24:08
I want these guys who have stuck it out, they could have transferred and left, John Bullock
24:12
you know, I mean, they could have went to the NFL. They could be cashed in the paycheck right now. Yeah, Isaac Gifford
24:17
I mean, I want to see these guys playing a freaking bowl game. They deserve it
24:21
They came back for it. And I think they're going to get it. And I would love to see him get it this weekend
24:25
And just to, you know, beat a top 20, like to beat a top 25 team, like just to have that
24:29
significant win. You know, they beat Iowa a couple years ago, which was nice. nice, but this would be, this would be in a different level. And this would be, I can't even
24:37
remember the biggest win. I mean, this would definitely be the biggest win since they beat Michigan State, I would say in that Saturday Night game when, was it Brandon O'Reilly? Is that his last
24:47
name? I'm like, yeah, Brandon Riley. I don't know why I was trying to throw the O'O in there
24:51
like O'Reilly Auto Parts, but Brandon Riley was with the force out. Yeah, that was a, that was a great
24:57
play. So anyway. And it would be a big win for Matt Rule, too. It would be a big win for Matt
25:01
rule and another signature win this season for him. I think Colorado was the first one for him this
25:06
season. And, you know, beating Indiana as, you know, with Indiana being ranked would be another
25:12
signature win this season. So it would be a big season for Matt Rule in that regard with still
25:17
some games left to play. And we're not the only ones that think Nebraska's going to win
25:21
JD Pickle, one of the, you know, the on three college football yst. He thinks this is a Matt
25:25
Rule special and that the Huskers are going to kind of surprise people on Saturday. So I don't know
25:30
I feel good about this matchup. I think it favors Nebraska in a lot of ways
25:34
I am worried about, I do think it's going to challenge the secondary. I mean, no doubt about it. Like, this Indiana team is legit offensively, but I don't know
25:41
I feel like we've got as good quarterback as them. And I like the defensive line better straight up
25:46
So, you know, I'll take the team. I'll take the team with the better defensive line
25:50
as long as they've got the quarterback any day of the week. And that's why, you know, I feel like Nebraska is going to be tough to beat, you know
25:55
for the next three years and or at least the rest of the season. I mean, we've got to see what the defensive line can develop
26:00
into the next couple of years, but James Williams and Princewell aren't going anywhere
26:04
So I still feel pretty good about that. A lot of talent coming down the pipe on the defensive line, too
26:09
Yeah, and then Nebraska's going to be, you know, I think a strong transfer portal destination
26:15
It's going to be nice this year. We don't need a quarterback. So, you know, we can use our money and try to get defensive tackle
26:21
That's what we're going to need, defensive tackle, you know what I mean? So start scouting now
26:26
But, hey, like, you know, Bear Alexander or whatever, the USC guys, go talk
26:30
to him right now. Go get his ass on campus. Like, I don't care that he quit on USC, like
26:34
whatever. Like, that's just, it's, it is weird, but that's what guys are doing nowadays. So
26:38
like, I, honestly, I would take advantage of that opportunity. Maybe Nebraska's, like, I don't
26:42
want that guy. I mean, Matt Rule is pretty strict about his culture, but I don't know. I just
26:47
believe in talent, so. Yeah, I mean, it seems like quite honestly, if we're being completely
26:52
honest here, that the, that the coaches have been a bit more of a problem than the players during
26:57
at Roll's tenure, but other than that, you know, honestly, and before I go, quick shout out to
27:04
John Butler, the defensive backs coach, talk about a guy that just came in kind of at the last
27:09
second. He's done a nice job with the defensive backs, and, you know, I think he deserves a lot of
27:13
credit, too. He does, and we'll wrap that up there, you guys. We're going to try to shoot for a Saturday
27:19
morning chat, so we may make it, we may not, depending on how the schedule has been. So
27:23
But if not, we will be back on Monday with our fallout from whatever happens on Saturday
27:29
So if you haven't already, please make sure again you hit the like button, hit the subscribe button
