Researcher, critic, travel writer, essayist, translator and poet Professore Ashiq Raheel was born in 1935 at the house of Barkat Ali in Mouza Noor Mahal district of Jalandhar. Educated till 7th at D.V. High School, Noor Mahal. Immigrated to Lahore in 1947. Matriculated from Muslim Model School Lahore and graduated from Government College Lahore. After completing his master's degree in mathematics, he became a lecturer in Nowshehra (KPK). Received an M.Sc. degree from the University of London on a scholarship in 1975. On his return from London, he settled in Lahore instead of Peshawar and started teaching in Science College, Wahdat Road, from where he retired in 1995. Notable publications include Sochan(Insha'i-Gulshan-e-Adab Publications Lahore-1992), Addhy Pagal (Insha'i-Gulshan-e-Adab Publications Lahore-2001). Des Bane Pardes (Travelogue of India - Gulshan Adab Publications Lahore - 2007) Naveyan Puraniyan Yaadan (Travelogue of England. Gulshan Adab Publications Lahore. 2005). Niagara De Aar Paar (US-Canada Travelogue. Gulshan-e-Adab Publications Lahore-2012) Muradan Hoiyan Puriyan (Travelogue) Teray Ruba Ru(Travelogue-Gulshan-e-Adab Publications Lahore, 2017) Lisaniyat (with the participation of Mukhtar Javed. New Book Depot Lahore-1994) and Arabic to Persian to Punjabi translations (Farooq Sons Lahore. Guide MA Punjabi). His Transliterated books from Gurmukhi to Shahmukhi are: Punjabi Canada (Tarlochan Singh) 'South Asia (Tarlochan Singh)' Rejhan Di Patari (Capt. Gordial Singh) 'Pachham Wal Khulda Boha (Gurdial Kanwal)'. He continued to publish a series of magazines entitled "Suneha".
