The love story of Mirza Sahiba is often regarded as the last classic story from the Punjab. In every other folk romance from the Punjab as Heer-Ranjha, Sohni Mahinwal---the girl's name comes first, but in Mirza Sahiba, the name of Mirza precedes Sahiba. This romantic tragedy was written by different poets in different periods and there are more than fifty versions available in Punjabi language. Mirza Sahiba was first written in Punjabi verse by Hafiz Barkhurdar Ranjha (b.1658) from Takht Hazara, Sargodha in the latter half of the seventeenth century. He came to Lahore in his youth but soon made Sialkot his permanent home and died there (in the town of Chitti Sheikhan). The hobby of compiling and translating in the Punjabi language continued throughout his life. There was no village or city in the ancient Punjab in which this story is not accepted due to its charms. A few decades after him, the Sindhi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai included this romance in his tragic Seven Queens of Sindh. Due to the unique rustic style, brevity, and boldness, Punjabi poet Peelu's (1580-1675) version of the tale became popular, and is widely sung and celebrated. In the tale, he described the political, social, and economic conditions of the time in poetic narration. R.C.Temple heard this ballad from many local performers and preserved it in his book: Legends of the Punjab. Muhammad Buta Gujrati's (b.1851) Mirza Sahiba has all the virtues of storytelling like emotiive writing, powerful dialogues, graphic description of event, vivid imagery, and delineation. It is also a great example of folk literature. Other well-known writers include Mian Qutbuddin, Mian Muhammad Bakhsh, Bhagwan Singh, Hafiz Shamsuddin, Jan Muhammad, Daim Iqbal Daim, Sundar Singh, Sain Maula Shah, Meeran Shah Jalundhari, Mian Muhammad Chandi, Muhammad Din Qadri, Hafiz Karim Bakhsh, etc. Mirza Sahiba Story in English, Folk Tales with Morals, Folk Tales of Pakistan, Romantic Stories of Pakistan, Classical Romantic Stories of Pakistan, Folk Story of Punjab, Daana Abad, jarranwala, Faisalabad, Mirza Sahiba in Punjabi, Movies on Mirza Sahiba,
