I recently discovered this amazing software for 3D design and animation called Wump
0:06
It caught my attention not only because it is free and easy to use, but also because you don't need
0:13
to download anything to your computer. You can create directly from your browser
0:18
Look at this cute emoji I was able to create on my first try after watching a tutorial
0:25
And take a look at what other creators have been able to create with this platform
0:33
To access Wump, type wump.com on your browser and once you are on their homepage click
0:40
open Wump Alpha. From here simply select sign up for free and follow the steps to create a
0:47
new account. I already have an account and this is how it looks like when you are logged in
0:53
Now I'm going to show you some useful resources inside Wump and then I'm going to show you the
0:58
step by step on how to create this 3D emoji in the editor. As you can see on the left panel we have
1:08
a menu and we are located on the discover page. In here you can see a bunch of different designs
1:15
from other creators. You can filter them by hottest, newest or staff picks. And I would say
1:22
that this page is really helpful in case that you want to find some inspiration if you don't have
1:30
any particular project that you want to work on. What I like about this page is that you can like
1:35
the designs that you see in here. So for example I like this one I'm gonna heart it. You can also
1:41
leave a comment and some of these designs you can remix them. So basically you will have a copy of
1:49
this design if you click this button and basically you can use it as a template if you wish. You can
1:56
change the colors, you can change the textures or you can add your own elements to this design
2:03
Coming back to the home page and to the left panel we are going to open my projects which is
2:09
below discover. From here you can open any project that you have worked in the past. Then below my
2:15
projects we have events. So what I understand is that WAMP they create different contests and if
2:23
you want you can join these contests. This page is interesting if you want to find more inspiration
2:31
or also if you don't know what to create you can follow one of these contests and see what others
2:37
are creating. Coming back to the left panel we have under events my account and from here you
2:43
can edit your profile, email settings and your account settings. Then below my account you have
2:50
what's new, you have everything that WAMP has been releasing or solving. Below we have the learn
2:58
section which is pretty pretty useful. I do recommend that you come here and watch the
3:04
tutorials that they have. You can create any of these characters that they have on the thumbnails
3:11
and then you have some other tutorials in here. You then have people in case that you have
3:18
followed any creator you will see them in here. Then you have the leaderboard. I honestly don't
3:24
know how you can get points and how you can rank higher on this list but I find this leaderboard
3:33
interesting because you can click on the different names or the different accounts that you find on
3:39
this list and discover different profiles that you may be interested in following. And finally we
3:46
have chats. Basically you have different conversations filtered by different topics. I actually found
3:53
one that is called 3D printing and it's quite interesting because you can create 3D models
4:00
inside WAMP and then 3D print them. So as you can see here Aura created this 3D model. I suppose
4:09
Aura created this model in WAMP and then she was able to print it and have a physical product
4:15
As you can see in here it is something real, something substantial
4:23
Now let's create a 3D design. For this we are going to click on the new project button that we
4:30
see on the left. WAMP is going to open the editor and by default we will have these shapes that we
4:38
can use to start understanding the platform in case that you are new and you don't know how to
4:45
use it yet. Now let's talk about the editor basics. You can drag your mouse to move around the scene
4:52
or to have a different view of your elements in the editor. You can also use the wheel on your
4:59
mouse or your mouse pad to get closer or to move further away from your object. Now as we are
5:07
working in a 3D editor we have three different arrows to move the elements in this three-dimensional
5:14
space. So every time you click or select one object you will see these three different arrows
5:22
When I drag this green arrow it's going to take the element to one side. If I take this red arrow
5:29
it's gonna bring it to another side and this purple or blue arrow you can move the element
5:37
up and down. If you want to increase or decrease the size of your element you simply take one of
5:45
the corners and reduce or increase the size. If you want to rotate your element select your element
5:52
and select this rotate icon and like this you can rotate your element. You can view and select
6:01
your elements from the editor or this page I would say the canvas but you can also view it
6:09
on the left panel. So in this case I have selected the sphere so that's why it appears selected in
6:17
here but if I wanted to select the cube I can also do it from here and if I want to deselect
6:23
the sphere I simply click again in here and I only have my cube selected. You can also see a
6:29
menu for each of these elements by clicking on this icon or these dots. So you can either lock
6:37
hide, copy, paste, duplicate, rename, positive or negative, replace with another shape, delete
6:45
send to top, up, down, bottom, break union, so this is kind of like grouping some elements
6:52
or move out. So you have plenty of different settings in here to play around with
6:59
Now let's discover some editing tools while we create this 3d emoji. The first step we need to
7:05
follow is to delete these elements that we have on the editor because we don't need them and an
7:12
easy way to do it is by selecting this union because we have a union of elements in here
7:19
Click on the six dots and then select delete. Now we need to create the shape that is going to be
7:26
the head of our emoji and to do so we can click on the objects icon on top of the screen and then
7:34
select either a sphere or a cylinder. I'm going to select a cylinder because this is going to
7:42
help me shape the head of my emoji much better and in order for us to have a round shape on this
7:51
cylinder we are going to use the menu that we see on the right hand side and to do this we are going
7:57
to move the roundness slider to the right. You can leave it to 100 or maybe 90. I'm going to play
8:06
around a little bit with the shape in here and also the size. I'm going to make this face very
8:13
big so we can see clearly how this emoji is looking. Now I'm going to change the color of
8:20
this sphere because I want the face of my emoji to be yellow. On the right hand side we see a section
8:27
called appearance and when we click here we can change the color of our shape. We can either enter
8:35
an RGB or hex code or we can open the color picker and choose a color from here. Now for the eyes we
8:44
are going to add a sphere so again going back to objects and sphere. Remember that we have these
8:51
three arrows and the red one, the red arrow, is not visible because this arrow is pointing directly
9:00
to us so we see simply a dot but we can drag it towards us to be able to see it. I'm going to change
9:08
the color of this sphere to black and I'm going to reduce the roughness. As you can see my sphere
9:16
is looking shiny and that's what I want for my eyes. I think this is looking good. Let me leave
9:24
it a little bit less shiny, bring this sphere up, make it smaller
9:34
Now that I think I'm happy with the size of my eye I need to drag the space to see where my eye
9:41
is located. As you remember we are in a 3d editor so as you can see my eye is really far away from
9:50
the head of my emoji so I'm going to play around with the arrows of the eye to bring it closer to
9:57
the face or the head of the emoji and then I'm going to continue moving the space so I can see
10:05
exactly where the eyeball is located. Okay now my eye is inside the head and I can be more precise
10:14
with the size of the eye. Remember to double check the position of your eye and then once you are
10:22
happy with the position and the size you can open the sphere menu and then select duplicate
10:29
Once you have a sphere number two you can drag this arrow to the right or to the left and now
10:38
we have two eyes. If you want you can also select two elements and increase the size at the same
10:45
time so both eyes have exactly the same size. Now I'm going to duplicate one of these spheres
10:53
again and I'm going to bring it down and to the left so I can create a little mouth and lastly
11:01
we are going to create little cheeks to our emoji face. We can take one of these spheres
11:07
can be sphere one, duplicate it, I'm going to bring it down and now I'm going to change the material
11:14
and the colors so by having the sphere four selected let me move it a little bit down
11:21
and to the left. Now let's open the material menu on top of the screen and in here you will see
11:29
different materials like metallic, plastic, rubber, skin, jelly and glass. You can play around with
11:36
these different materials by clicking on any of these options and see how it looks like on your
11:44
design or your emoji. I'm going for a skin material and I'm going for skin number 12. If you want to
11:53
change the color you can go back to appearance and select the color in here. In my case I want to
12:00
make it a little bit more saturated and then I'm going to play around with the position of this
12:07
element. Now that I'm happy with this shape I'm going to duplicate it and then bring this cheek
12:17
or this duplicated cheek to the right and I'm trying to make it the same size as this one
12:25
I'm going to adjust the size of my eyes a little bit more
12:35
and now I think I'm happy with how my emoji is looking. I'm gonna select all of these elements
12:43
and then I'm going to create an union. This is basically like grouping all the elements and then
12:49
This is basically like grouping all the elements and then if I want to move my emoji in this space
12:56
I can simply drag one arrow and as you can see the whole emoji is moving at the same time
13:04
I think our emoji is ready to be downloaded and the first thing that we need to have into
13:09
consideration is how the emoji is looking at the moment. So if I were to download it as it is it's
13:16
going to be downloaded exactly as you are looking at it. If you want your emoji to be pointing to
13:24
one side you need to drag the space and point your emoji to the direction that you want to
13:30
download it. I think I want my emoji to be looking directly to me and then if you want you can also
13:38
come closer or far away if you want your emoji to be really small. I think I'm gonna leave it
13:44
this size and then before downloading I want to show you something cool because you can add
13:50
lights to your model. On top of the screen you have this icon called lighting and from here you can
13:58
add lights and also environmental lights. You can add rectangular lights. You can see I have this
14:05
light in here and I can move it in this space. We see this rectangular light on top of my emoji face
14:14
You can also see the lights that you have added in this left menu. I'm going to delete this one and
14:21
add a spherical light. You see that the light now is right below the emoji and if I bring it up
14:31
I'm going to start illuminating the top of the head of my emoji. Let's delete this light
14:38
and add a dome light. As you can see my emoji is very illuminated at the moment. You can see that
14:47
we have a lot of light in front of the face and let me delete it so you can see the difference
14:54
Now with the dome light and now without and then you can also add environmental lights as I already
15:00
mentioned. You can try them by clicking on these thumbnails and see which one you prefer. I think I
15:06
like this one right here and then you will see that on the right hand side you have some
15:12
environmental light settings. If you move the first slider to the right you will have more light on
15:19
your model and if you move it to the left it will be darker. So let me show you moving the slider to
15:25
the right. This is a lot of light and then if I move it to the left it's gonna be completely dark
15:31
So I'm gonna leave it to 14. Why not? And then with this one you are going to rotate the
15:39
illumination on the scene. So let me show you quickly how this one looks like if I move the
15:46
slider to the right and then if I move it to the left. I'm gonna leave this one to zero and I think
15:54
I am ready to download my emoji. So on top of the screen you will see the export button. Click here
16:03
and then download image. From here you have two options image export and 3d export. If you want
16:11
to download this file to 3d print select this one and you will see the 3d print in here. I just want
16:18
a png file so I'm going to image export. You can select the resolution so I'm going for 4k. Why not
16:27
Format, png. I want my emoji without a background so I'm going to leave it as it is and then I don't
16:35
want to see the grid on my emoji either. So this one is going to be deselected as well. Then simply
16:43
export image and you will have this little pop-up message that says we are preparing your image to
16:50
be downloaded. It can take up to a minute or more. They are saying as well that you can continue
16:56
working on your project while they download your design. So if you want continue working on it and
17:04
actually my design is ready to be downloaded. It took just a couple of seconds and let me name it
17:12
and save it. And this is the final outcome. Please let me know what do you think about this 3d emoji
17:19
that we created today. Now I would like to hear from you if this tutorial was easy to follow and
17:27
also I would like to know if you were able to create something with Wumpf after watching this
17:32
video. Please let me know in the comments. To discover more tools for content creators we have
17:38
plenty of tutorials you will love. Subscribe to our channel and watch this playlist to learn more
17:44
I think this is it for this video and I hope to see you in the next one. Bye
