Hey, what's up guys, Ronnie here
0:01
Welcome back to the channel. In this video, I want to address all of the different questions we received from you guys
0:08
about our YouTube membership, the Rondyship. So I'm going to be calling Kia, who we have contracted in the team, to be working with
0:16
us on developing this membership. Kia has gathered all of the questions we received on our different posts related to the
0:23
launch of the membership. We already have a bunch of members who joined the membership, so we felt it would be the right
0:29
time with this video to give you some extra information about what this is all about, where it is
0:36
going and why we even started this project in the first place. So let me quickly call my friend
0:41
Kia. Kia, are you here? I'm here. I'm excited for this. How are you doing? I'm ready. Let's do this
0:50
So, Kia, you have gathered some of the questions from our members. Yes, Ronnie
0:55
what is going on? I'm super stoked to shoot this with you today. So after going through the questions
0:59
from the members. I think one of the big ones, and I think a good place to start with this, would be what inspired membership in the first place? You obviously have this killer channel
1:08
already. You're doing awesome tutorials. You have the courses. Why even do a membership in the
1:12
first place? Okay. That's a really good question to kick us off in this Q&A. So I think there are
1:17
two main reasons why the Anna and I wanted to start this YouTube membership. The first one is that
1:24
we want to bring some flexibility into our educational program, our educational content
1:32
And by that, I mean the courses. Because one thing about these courses is that they take a very long time to produce
1:41
So if you look at our best-selling courses, for example, the Canva Master course, it's about 16 hours
1:46
of content. If you take a more recent one like the Canva for Social Media course, it's about seven hours
1:52
of content as well. So in order to produce these five, six, up to ten different section courses, sometimes it takes us several months
2:01
Like the personal branding course even took me, I remember when I shot this one and produced it
2:06
it took me almost a year to produce this course. So that's a problem because it means like from the time we start the production or write the table of content until the moment that it actually is available for our students, a lot of time has passed, the tools have changed
2:21
and sometimes some of the information is simply out of date. Like, let's say, right now I'm working on a chat GPT course
2:28
I have maybe the first two sections already. Well, I could very well publish these sections in the membership
2:34
the first two sections of the course, while I could not really publish this course on UDEMI yet
2:39
because UDEM needs a full complete course before you can publish it
2:43
So that is the first reason. We feel like the membership gives us an opportunity to give access to our courses
2:50
by a little chunk, kind of like drip feeding our courses to the members of the membership
2:57
So that's the very first reason. And probably the most important. Second one, which is also important, is that we wanted to have a deeper connection with our super fans of the channel
3:08
So that is you guys who are like in the membership already. Because, you know, being a YouTuber, it's fun and it's a very rewarding job, but it also is kind of a lonely job
3:19
Like you are in the studio, shooting videos. I am lucky enough that I'm not doing this by myself
3:25
A lot of YouTubers do this completely by themselves. But me, I have my wife, Diana, with me
3:29
I have the team. Not physically here, but I have a team that you can communicate with on Slack
3:35
But still, so having these live sessions is something we are going to elaborate on later
3:40
But having this connection with the audience is actually something I'm really looking forward to
3:44
Like getting to know them, having them getting to know us on a more personal level
3:49
So these are the two reasons, really, like the more flexibility in our courses and the way we share them
3:54
And second, like the opportunity to connect deeper with the audience. So I think those are both great places to start with
4:00
But let's take it from the top. In terms of the courses, let's talk about those a little bit more because a lot of people have senior tutorials, have senior educational videos
4:09
They know what you're about. I think some of those people are confused. Why even have courses
4:14
Like people said, you know, what's the difference between the courses and your typical tutorials
4:18
And so I think maybe if you could talk about that a little bit, that would be helpful. Yes, sure
4:22
There is actually a question I get regularly. Well, the difference is that, first of all, the paid content is deeper
4:28
It's deeper in the sense that it's usually longer. We explore every topic in much more details
4:34
And we also explore them in a much more structured way. A tutorial, for example, could be we explore one specific feature or one specific novelty in Canva or in Chat GPD or something like that
4:47
So we will give some tips and tricks about this one feature, but then you don't get the entire context
4:53
You don't get the, I would say, more academic approach to the learning of this tool
4:59
The courses are about tools. So it could be Canva, could be chat GPT for specific purposes
5:06
And so when you put that together, you realize that in order to fully grasp everything that there is to know about this tool in that context or for that purpose, you need a bit of time
5:16
and you need to approach this knowledge in a structured way. That's what we do with the paid content
5:22
So tutorials are great. Their main advantage, I would say, is that they are available for everyone to watch on YouTube
5:28
It's easy to find. But the courses, I would say, are for people who are eager to go deeper and to learn
5:34
in a more complete way, to approach a topic and really become a master of that specific
5:40
tool or that specific topic that I am teaching in the course. Yeah I think that a great way to putter I feel like it is like you said it more of kind of a complete package when it comes to courses I also know me and a course creator myself before what people want is they want the structure You know I feel like the tutorials are like you can go really specific on this little thing but the court is more of a complete overview
5:57
Go deeper into certain topics and structure it in a way that, like you said, is a bit more academic
6:02
So that sounds awesome. Another piece to this that people asked about was about the live sessions
6:07
And you touched on this a little bit before was wanting to connect more with your super fans or the community
6:11
And so people were curious, what can they expect from the live sessions? What exactly do those look like
6:16
So the live sessions, so that would be the second perk of the membership
6:19
The first perk is access to these courses before we publish them anywhere
6:23
The second perk is access to our live sessions. Ideally, once we figure out the tech, so thank you for bearing with us here, these will be YouTube live sessions
6:33
So it would be live, there would be a time. You can connect, sign up and just be part of the live experience
6:40
But the sessions in themselves are, I would say a place where you can come and connect with
6:44
Diana and I and you, Kia, because you will also be in the calls
6:48
And first, like, hang out with us, spent an hour with us
6:52
You can ask us your questions about Canva, about Generative AI, or simply about your business, if you are running a business
6:59
It's kind of like, yes, this space that we create where you can come with your questions
7:04
We were also thinking about having design critiques. So those of you who remember the Pimp My Design episodes on the channel was kind of like this idea
7:14
You show me your designs, you submit the link, Canva link, so I can get inside the designs and then just give you some feedback on that design
7:22
Maybe tweak them a little bit live so you can see how I would change this or that in the design
7:28
So we could have something like that like live design critiques with Diana
7:32
We could also sometimes if they accept to invite guests to these sessions to talk about a particular topic
7:38
So we would have expert speakers that would come and you can have access to these people
7:43
So the Q&As, the design critiques, and hanging out, like just spending some time with us
7:49
So the plan would be to have at least one session per month for the members
7:53
And yeah, this is in a nutshell what these live sessions are going to be about
7:58
I'm super excited about this because I think it's a way for the members to get to know you and Diana better as well
8:03
Like I saw some of the old Q&As you guys had on the channel and yeah, they can ask you about life and business and Canva, everything
8:09
So before you talked about the courses and a little bit of live sessions, money. Could you touch a little bit on that third pillar? This was something that I think also has a lot of
8:17
potential in this membership, but people were a little bit confused about the tools or the templates
8:22
So talk about that a little bit. So access to tools or templates is our third main pillar
8:28
So this channel, the Design with Canva, Team Rondi, is really about showing you how to use tools
8:35
to achieve specific goals in your life, like professional goals, personal goals. And so we are using a few tools
8:42
like Canva, Chat GPD, DAL-E, and a few other generative AI tools
8:47
So a lot of these tools have the ability to use templates. For example, if we take ChatGPT, a typical template would include different prompts that we are using to achieve specific hands
8:58
So what we want to do for our members of the Rondyship is to collect all of these prompts into templates that are editable, that they can use straight away
9:08
So we are trying to figure out the best way to do this. The problem is that Open AI keeps changing every two days
9:15
So it's very difficult for us to keep up and figure out the best way to do it
9:19
But we are working at it very hard with the team. And we are taking a little bit of time to just start this engine, like the third pillar
9:27
It is here and it is definitely going to become an entire part of this membership
9:32
So we are building that library of prompts for chat GPT. There will be some prompts for Dali
9:38
We want also for you to discover Diana's Canva template. As you know, Diana is a Canva creator
9:45
She has over 8,000 templates available in Canva. And it's just like it's a bit difficult to search and find all of these templates
9:53
So we are trying to see how we can improve the experience of our members by maybe having every week
10:00
like some news about the new templates that she publishes with direct links
10:04
So you can try them out. So stuff like this is something we are working on
10:08
So basically, the tools part is going to be giving you our members access to prompts, to templates, and to future tools
10:17
Like, for example, like the GPs that seem to be the new hot thing on Open AI's platform
10:24
Well, we are experimenting with building our own GPs for different things
10:28
And once they are ready, like, we will share that with the members of the wrong ship
10:33
So that's kind of like everything we will include in this tools or templates
10:38
plates per of the membership. Nice. You mentioned it a little bit. I'd love for if you could just touch
10:42
a little bit more is this idea around building and experimenting because I know you and I have
10:47
jammed on this about building in public and I just thought this would be an important thing to dive
10:51
into more. I think because especially this membership might be a little bit different than the
10:56
normal completely finished polished courses and tutorials that your community is used to. Talk a little
11:01
bit about your ideas around building in public and why you think it's important to kind of attempt this new
11:06
direction with the membership and also just in general. So the concept of building in public is something
11:12
that is becoming more and more popular among content creators because the speed, the pace at which
11:18
content or platforms are changing is increasing. And we observe that with the rise of generative
11:25
AI. So in that space, things are changing so fast. And therefore, if you are a content creator
11:31
you are facing a real dilemma Like how do I keep up with all this content And how do I create polished content tutorial courses before the tech even becomes obsolete or the tech that you are showing in your particular piece of content
11:44
becomes obsolete in terms of the user interface, in terms of the features. All of this is changing
11:50
very fast. So some content creators have started to build in public. So they are creating channels
11:56
they are creating courses or creating content and just admitting and is just part of the package
12:03
it's not going to be perfect, but I am willing to do this together with you. I am building
12:07
this business in front of you. I'm going to be transparent. I'm going to share the details of
12:12
like the mistakes I make. I remember, for example, a few tutorials where I deliberately decided
12:18
not to cut some of the mistakes or the fails that were happening in Canva. And some users
12:23
commented, oh, I love that you're showing the mistakes and the fails because it happens to me as well
12:28
And this made me think a lot. And with the membership, not with the main tutorial
12:33
on the channel. We still want to have a high quality of tutorials and these will take time
12:38
But in the membership, we feel like we have our little closed community where we can be
12:43
different. We can try something new. So what we want to try there together with you, Kia
12:48
is to deliver videos and updates that are not as polished as our tutorials. We will not spend
12:54
two weeks with the production team to make them all shiny and colorful and perfect
12:59
We will make them look good, good enough, and then we will push that. to our members so that you can have access to the information faster
13:07
And there is something beautiful in that building in public because it creates a community
13:11
It's showing you in your authentic way. Like it's almost unedited, but it's more authentic
13:16
It's just like it's realer. And I think there is something in there that strengthen the community
13:22
And for me, this is a new challenge. This is not something we're used to because we are perfectionists, both Jana and I
13:28
And we want everything perfect. But perfection takes time and slows you down
13:33
sometimes. So, yeah, this is what it's about. Ronnie, I love that. I'm super excited about, too
13:37
and being a part of the membership, being able to push these updates quicker too, where, you know
13:41
folks, they aren't going to expect something super polished from me where I can show up every week
13:45
say, here's what we got going on and give them the information that's most necessary quicker
13:49
without having to put all the bells and muscles on top. So I'm really looking forward to that
13:53
Also, building too and getting input from the community, you know, that I think is important
13:57
with something like this. So the last few questions I have for you, Ronnie, are a lot of times people
14:01
curious, who is the membership for? And the last one, of course, the people ask is why charge for this
14:07
So maybe we take it from the first one is who do you believe this actual membership is for
14:12
Do you have to be an expert to know these things? Do you need to know Chad GPT in and out
14:16
Have to be a designer. Who do you kind of imagine this membership helping the most
14:20
Well, I don't think there is a particular skill level that you need to have in order to really
14:24
fully benefit from this membership. It's more, I would say, where you are in your entrepreneurial
14:30
journey. Like, if you are just getting started and you are discovering Canva and learning the very
14:36
basics, I would say stick around the channel for a little bit. Like, watch some tutorials we have
14:40
created. Watch 10, 20, 30 videos. So you start like your journey like this and you start to get
14:48
a feel of who we are, what we are proposing to YouTube and to the Canva community. So get into
14:54
that content first. The membership is for people who have been following us for a while. And
15:00
they know us and they understand what we've gone through, like the type of business we are building
15:05
So I would say the membership is for people who themselves aspire to create some sort of a business
15:11
around content creation and want to have access to us, to ask us these burning questions
15:17
they might have about how to do it or how can I do it better or faster or in a more productive
15:22
way. So I would say this category of people, people who are just like really fans of the channel
15:28
They want to connect with us or they want access to our courses
15:32
Instead of buying them on Udeme or on Skillshare, there is a new way you can learn from us
15:38
It's more like a buffet, you know, like we'll have everything in the membership so you can pick and choose
15:42
We'll have exclusive educational pieces also in the membership. So I don't know. There is a new tool. Maybe we spend an hour and a half together jamming on it and just like creating recording as we build
15:54
So that's also something cool that I'm looking forward to do. So I would say this is more the type of people who we are creating this for
16:02
I think that's cool, Rwining. I think a lot of folks, too, because it is such a diverse audience
16:06
but there is this sort of common thread between them all that there are a lot of freelancers
16:11
or creator-preneurs that I know you, I like that, that sort of staple that you kind of
16:15
but people that are building something. And I'm not sure folks realize, too, the amount of value that they could get just from talking
16:21
to you and Diana about how you've built your own business and what it actually takes to
16:25
run a team and processes and all these things that I think as folks, if they want to expand from
16:30
freelancers or, you know, entrepreneurs into having more of a team or what that actually looks
16:35
like to build a business or run a YouTube channel at this level, I think that'll be super helpful. So I like that it is for a little bit of everybody depending on what it is that they're
16:44
looking for. So before we kind of wrap this up, a lot of times people too, they ask about the price
16:49
they say, you know, what's their between just buying a course and this paid membership? Or, you know
16:54
before, it was all free tutorials. Why are you charging for stuff now? So talk a little bit about
16:58
the price point that we chose that we talked about and why it's worth investing in. So the price
17:03
point of the Rondyship, which is that tier in our membership. Right now, as of filming this video
17:10
we still have two tiers. We have a $299 tier and a $999 tier. The Rondishap or the membership
17:17
what we have discussed so far in this video is the $999 tier. If you sign up for the $299 tier
17:23
all you have is the custom badges and the custom emojis and priority access to our reply to your comments on YouTube So it is really the 999 tier that we consider being the piece de resistance of this membership
17:39
Excuse my French. So it is that tier. And we don't know yet if we are going to keep the lower tier
17:45
We want to make this super easy. It's created a bit of confusion when we launched. People
17:49
they thought they were in the membership, but they were on the lower tier. And they were kind of surprised
17:54
why can't I see that video that you posted? So we are probably going to end up deleting that first here
18:01
and keep the $999 or regional equivalent in your currency. There would be an equivalent price
18:08
Now, why starting to come up with a paid offer on YouTube
18:12
Well, first, because it's a new program, like relatively new program by YouTube
18:17
And for having a coach at YouTube, they have told us personally that they are taking this program seriously
18:23
and they want to build it further. So we can expect more features and more cool perks that we can do more cool things that we can do with the membership
18:31
The second reason is because our audience, you guys are here already on YouTube
18:37
We have over 400,000 people who have subscribed to our channel right here on this platform
18:43
So we want to be closer to you with our courses, with the things we can offer you
18:49
So we don't need to just find you or have you find us on another platform like Udeme or Facebook community or anything like that
18:57
Like you're already here. So let's have everything here. And that join button is right under every single one of our videos
19:04
So that is the why. And the why we are charging is because time is limited
19:09
We can only do so much. Creating two videos per week and courses and running a team of eight people
19:16
It just takes a massive amount of time. So we need to make some choices
19:20
In order to build that membership, we are investing. We are investing in our team, hiring talent like you, Kia, for helping us bring your skills
19:30
to the table. So all of this has a cost. And therefore, we thought if we give that extra value, people will gladly pay these $10
19:38
They will consider this an investment in their skills, in their network, in their coaching
19:44
Like you mentioned, our experience. And this is something we never do on YouTube
19:48
But I spend a lot of time just coaching my friends, telling my friends about our experience
19:54
how we did that or that in terms of the business part. And we've done this together, Kia, like we talk about your business
20:00
but I've done this with maybe a good, like dozens of different friends
20:04
And it's always something I enjoy doing at, something I'm good at. And so I want to give access to the people who really, really enjoy our content and decide to join this membership
20:14
I want to give them access to us in that same way. I also think knowing you and Diana and spending more time with you both, realizing that you
20:20
weren't just making money and then trying to like stack the cash, that it's about the more resources
20:25
that you're also able to invest into the community. You're able to actually build bigger, better, cooler things because like you said, it takes time
20:35
Yeah. And it takes effort. And so, you know, you're able to actually bring more, I think, to the table with a paid
20:41
offer like this where then you actually can have people to help you edit or bring on people like
20:46
me who can run different things that you're actually able to build a better product with it
20:50
But I do think that that's important. You're not just squirrelling the money away somewhere. Not trying to buy a Ferrari. Exactly. Like how much money you guys invest back into the business
20:58
I think is cool. And something I just wanted to be transparent about. I'm not sure folks necessarily
21:02
realize that. So Ronnie, I guess we'll be wrapping this up. The last thing is, what's next
21:07
What can people expect? How do they join? Let's put the cherry on the cake here
21:11
So what's next? Well, the membership is launched. If you want to join, there's a join button
21:16
right here next to the subscribe button underneath this video. So you can check that out
21:21
Make sure to differentiate the two different tiers if you still see 299 and 999. Everything we've
21:27
talked about is the 999 plan, the Rondyship. So yeah, if you want to join, go ahead. You can
21:33
cancel that membership at any time on YouTube. So yeah, and what's next? Well, we'll be planning
21:39
our first live sessions with our first members. It just happened so that we, the
21:44
and I and I are traveling. We'll be in Colombia, but we'll figure out a way to make it happen
21:49
definitely in the month of November or early December for the members already in the membership
21:54
I've seen before recording this video, we are already 20 members. So big shout out, big thank
22:00
you to all of the people who have already joined and I'm really looking forward to meet you guys
22:05
in that first live session. So check out the membership tab on our YouTube channel for announcements
22:11
and Kia will keep sharing these weekly updates. And once we have the date, we'll share it with you and we'll all meet in that first live session
22:19
So that's what's next. I'm working on some new courses as well. One is the chat GPT course
22:23
So we can expect these to start launching and rolling out in the first section, at least, in the membership around beginning of January
22:32
So I'm very excited about this as well. Yeah, I think also one of the cool parts of being a member, especially these like first movers
22:38
is that they really get a stake in building this thing with us
22:42
you know, it'll always be moving and adapting and changing. But if you're some of these first members, like, we're really right there boots on the ground with them
22:49
And so I think it's a perfect time to join, especially if you are gung-ho and you want to build this with us in a way, you know, to give your input
22:56
And yeah, so I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys too on the inside. And I guess we'll be in touch
23:01
You'll be hearing from you weekly. I'll be doing updates. And once we have a date like that first life Q&A, I'll actually be able to hang with you in real life-ish
23:08
So I'm looking forward to it. Yep. I'm looking forward to this. Well, thank you, guys
23:12
for watching this video. Again, the join button is right there. Thank you for watching until the end
23:17
and we will see you then
