So if you ever have a handwritten document like this that you need to transcribe and
0:05
you don't want to take the time to manually type it all out, I'm going to show you a quick
0:09
way that you can automatically dictate your text using Microsoft Word or Word Online
0:16
So let's get started. I'm going to start by opening up Microsoft Word, just like this
0:22
If I hover over to the right hand side, there is a button that says dictate
0:27
When I press this button, it's going to start listening for me to dictate the text to it
0:33
The author builds up suspense in the story. The way she does this is by making us think something bad is going to happen or by conversations
0:42
that might get us nervous, period. Once you're finished, just push the microphone button and you will notice that Word will
0:49
do its best to convert your speech to actual text. Now it's never 100% perfect, so you'll likely find yourself going through and re-reading
0:58
this in order to make sure that your text is grammatically correct and the punctuation
1:03
is right. But there are a few other things that you can do. When you click the dictate button, before you actually record, you can click a gear
1:11
and this will allow you to enable auto-punctuation. By checking on this box, what will happen is Word will automatically add punctuation
1:20
when you stop reading. There's also a bunch of commands that you can use
1:24
I will link these commands in the comments, but this might make your life a little easier
1:30
and help you reduce some of the time that you may spend editing
1:34
So I hope you enjoyed learning about the dictation feature in Microsoft Word. I'm hoping that this will save you time if you ever have to transcribe a handwritten
1:42
piece of writing. Microsoft Word 10.0 Word.Document.8
