0:00
hello good morning this is taiva types.com and today uh we are going to be looking at matthew 16 verse 28.
0:08
now a couple of days ago i received a message from a nice gentleman who asked me um my thoughts on matthew
0:15
16 28 this is a verse that has caused some controversies in the christian community and historians and
0:23
theologians as well so i wanted to look at it so when you ask me the question about
0:29
what i thought about it i said well the same way i think about every other scripture i think
0:35
um the best way to interpret the scripture is to let the scripture interpret itself we don't try to ascribe the meaning to
0:42
things by trying to fish out for information or extrapolate too much because that's dangerous
0:48
so a lot of people um when you look at this verse especially critics they're trying to use
0:56
this to basically condemn jesus and say that he he's giving out false prophecies we're
1:02
going to get into it in a second but i just wanted to give you that background quick uh why am i doing this this morning
1:08
is exactly because of it so i went and i looked at the scripture closely and i wanted to to give you my findings
1:15
now before i start i just wanted to make something clear uh there are people on youtube that ask
1:21
me questions and i say things and when i answer um some of them they're just trying to
1:26
play games now i'm not talking about this guy that asked me about matthew 16 28 he wasn't he was genuine about his question and we
1:33
exchanged we had a good exchange but that's another guy that was just being silly and i actually gave him my
1:38
number i said hey if you want to talk give me a call and he doesn't call and all he asks
1:44
he asked me like silly questions about the one who osiris is who created sin and stupidity you know
1:50
i'm not gonna answer those things anymore because it's just a waste of my time and waste of your time so if anybody really wants to to to talk
1:59
i'll give you my number it's 240-481-1672 i'd rather talk to you instead of just
2:07
messages on on youtube it's not always accurate i just want to have a call and then we can talk and have a normal conversation so if you
2:14
really have an inquiries then i would love to dive into those inquiries with you i don't
2:20
claim to know like i'm not a no at all i just want to do this with you in the sense that if
2:26
you have questions and you are you have doubt i'm just like you i also have my share of doubt but it's better to go at it
2:32
together rather than just exchanging on youtube and being sarcastic that man was being sarcastic now i'm not talking about the guy that
2:38
asked me about matthew 16 28 because he was nice so and he he came and he had a genuine uh
2:45
question so let's get into the introduction i don't want to waste too much time talking so let's get into that so basically uh
2:51
in my intro which i kind of mentioned i told you that there was a comment that was posted on one of my youtube videos a
2:57
few days ago from a gentleman asking what i thought about matthew 16 28 and
3:03
this is a verse that caused like i said a lot of controversies and critics claim that jesus gave a false on prophecy
3:09
and many theologians have tried to interpret this verse to defend the claims of christ and there are many views out there and i
3:15
don't claim to fully grasp what the lord was communicating but one thing i'm convinced of is that the bible is its own
3:22
interpreter and defender so when i come across like difficult passages like this one and the best way to have clarity is to
3:29
look at the passage within its context and then understand what the author is emphasizing and hope that the lord in
3:36
his grace will grant us understanding to properly interpret on the scripture
3:41
so we're going to try to do that this morning with matthew 16 28 but before we get into it we need to
3:47
know a couple of things which is why add up to that statement and first of all let me show you what
3:53
the statement is okay and then we are going to go into that so let's do that right now so jesus says
3:58
in matthew 16 28 truly i tell you someone who are standing here
4:03
will not taste death before they see the son of man coming in his kingdom now some people take this to mean when
4:10
it comes the second time that some of the people that were listening to him would not taste death
4:15
so this is why this has caused a lot of controversies so now we're going to go back to the presentation and trying to dissect uh this entire uh
4:23
scripture so let's do that again the first thing that we need to know is what led up to that statement
4:30
so we need to know the chain of event so we're gonna go to matthew 15 and verse 32 to 39 okay scripture says
4:39
then jesus called his disciples to him and said i have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three
4:45
days and have nothing to eat and i'm unwilling to send them away hungry less defend on the way and the disciples
4:53
said to jesus where are we to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great the crowd
4:59
and jesus said to them how many loaves do you have and they said seven and a few small fish and directing the
5:06
crowd to sit down on the ground he took the seven loaves on the fish and having given thanks he
5:11
broke them and gave them to the disciples and the disciples gave them to the crowds and they all
5:17
ate and were satisfied and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over
5:23
those who ate were four thousand men beside women and children and after sending them away the crowd
5:30
he got into the boat and went to the region of macadam so basically the observation is this is
5:36
the this is not the first time jesus was feeding a massive amount of people he did with five thousand so this is the
5:42
second um time he does it so he performed a similar miracle in chapter six
5:47
and yet the disciples still don't seem to like be phased by it okay he has never
5:54
occurred in the world before that someone had fed five thousand and four thousand people from a handful of fish
6:01
and bread but it seems as if the disciples were not amazed by this extra
6:06
like ordinary event they didn't seem to be amazed they just made it seem like it was just a regular thing that happened
6:11
so keep that in the back ahead so in matthew 16 verse 1 to 4
6:17
and the pharisees and sadducees came and to test him i mean to test jesus they asked him to show them a sign from
6:23
heaven he answered them when is evening you say it will be fair weather
6:28
for the sky is red and in the morning it will be astonished it will be storming today for the sky
6:34
is red and threatening you know how to interpret the appearance of the sky but you cannot interpret the signs of
6:40
the times an evil and adulterous degeneration seeks for a sign but no sign will be given to it except
6:47
the son of jonah so he left them and departed so basically the pharisees are asking jesus for a
6:53
sign from heaven and they were well aware of all the signs he had performed even nicodemus in john
6:59
3 recognized that jesus came from god and so we see how jesus was appalled by their
7:05
request they had seen him performing a lot of miracles and even you could even say no one can do the signs that you do
7:11
unless god is with him so nicodemus knew so the first is new they were just trying to be
7:17
they were just jealous and they hated jesus and they were just trying to sabotage his life so basically he saw
7:24
through their duplicity so let's keep going now in matthew 16
7:29
5-12 so we read this when the disciples reached the other side they had forgotten to bring any
7:36
bread and jesus said to them watch and beware of the leaven of the pharisees and the sadducees
7:41
and they began discussing and they began discussing it among themselves saying we brought no bread but jesus our
7:48
word he said oh you have little faith why are you discussing discussing among yourselves the fact
7:54
that you have no bread do you not yet perceive do you not remember the five lows for the five
8:00
thousand and how many baskets you gathered or the seven loaves for the four thousand and
8:05
how many baskets you gathered how is it that you failed to understand that i did not speak about bread beware
8:12
of the eleven of the pharisees and sadducees they understood that he did not tell them to be aware of the leaven of bread
8:18
but of the teaching of the pharisees and sadducees so what
8:23
we need to understand here you got to keep in the back of your head that the disciples are watching and experiencing everything that is taking
8:29
place with the pharisees with the signs they are like the closest to this action so jesus is saying despite all
8:38
the miracles and signs jesus has performed in their presence even the disciples seem to not know who
8:44
he really is that they're not getting it just like a pharisees the signs do not seem to reveal or
8:51
disclose the identity of jesus to the disciples because they're still like oh we have no
8:56
bread and jesus is like are you dull minded don't you get it did you remember the five thousand that are fed and the four
9:02
thousand right before your eyes what is wrong with you guys don't you know who i am
9:08
so jesus sternly warns them about being dull-minded and unable to understand the signs of the time just like a
9:14
pharisees and finally they seem to get it so i'm just again building up to that
9:20
statement in verse 18. so let's look at mark 8 22-26 the same event is recorded and we're
9:26
going to look at it and and let me show you that
9:32
in a second listen to what happens is it's the same event well marty doesn't mention uh
9:38
verse 22 to 26 but uh mark does so let's read this
9:44
after that's when after just after jesus says to them do you still don't understand so he takes them and they go through bethesda
9:50
and let's see what happened they came to bethsaida and some people brought a blind man and begged
9:56
jesus to touch him he took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village when he had spit on the man's eyes and
10:02
put his hands on him jesus asked do you see anything he looked up and said i see people they look like trees
10:09
walking around once more jesus put his hand on a man's eyes then his eyes were opened
10:14
his sight was restored and he saw everything clearly jesus sent him home saying don't even go
10:20
into the village so we're going to tie this up to what happened earlier so basically
10:28
the same event is recorded for us in mark 8 but there's an additional piece of data that i wanted to add and i just showed
10:35
it to you okay matthew doesn't mention the healing of the blind man in with reds aida but mark does and i think it's very
10:42
important that we mention it okay now remember i read you the scripture
10:48
so um what it means we're gonna get the observation so we
10:54
have to read this portion in light of the previous event jesus is trying to teach the disciples about his identity
11:00
we see here that the blinds man healing took place in two stages okay and i strongly believe that when
11:06
mark was writing about this event he was giving us a vivid picture of the disciples mindset at the time
11:12
just like the blind man they couldn't see clearly and jesus was gradually opening their minds eye just like the
11:19
blind man he took two stages first he said i see man like trees walking and then jesus says again and he saw it
11:24
clearly so jesus was gradually opening their eyes so they could see who he really was because they still had
11:31
like a cloud uh there was still a cloud of um no fog there's a foggy
11:36
they didn't quite get it yet so he was showing them through that event because i don't think mark will record
11:42
that for nothing he has a specific purpose and he ties it to the last uh statement that jesus made
11:48
about do you still not understand okay now let's keep going now now we're going to go to mark back
11:54
to to matthew 16 verse 13 and 17 and we're going to read about peter's confession
12:00
now when jesus came into the district of caesarea philippi he asked his disciples who do people say
12:06
that the son of man is and they said some say john the baptist address elijah
12:11
and others jeremiah are one of the prophets and he said to them but who do you say that i am simon peter replied
12:18
you are the christ the son of the living god and jesus answered him blessed are you
12:24
simon barjona which is son of jonah for the flesh for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my father was
12:31
in heaven again the lord wanted to know if they finally understood who he was and peter
12:38
became the spokesperson you are the christ so i can guarantee you that jesus rejoiced when peter said
12:45
made that statement and we can make that inference based on what we are told in verse 17 blessed are you
12:51
simon for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you but my father so jesus is probably
12:56
rejoicing when he makes that statement about peter because he knows now he's getting it he's getting it and then we're going to
13:02
go to the next thing now remember jesus um matthew uh peter just made like one of the
13:09
biggest confession and we're gonna read what happens in verse 21 to 23.
13:14
from that time jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders
13:20
and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed and on the third day be raised and peter
13:26
took him aside and began to rebuke him saying far be it from you lord this shall never
13:33
happen to you but he turned and said to peter get behind me satan you are a hindrance to me for you
13:39
are not setting your mind on the things of god one of the things of men now this is
13:45
crazy peter gets rebuked sharply by jesus in front of the other disciples
13:51
now this happened right after he had just made one of the greatest confessions ever so the disciples still can
13:59
can see they can't see clearly understand like they don't quite see jesus's mission and are actually in danger of colluding
14:05
with the enemy this is what jesus says be get behind me satan so remember the entire time jesus has been trying to
14:12
reveal his identity to them and they still can quite grasp grasp the whole
14:18
thing they still can't wrap their head around it so peter says no that shall never happen to you and he
14:23
says get behind me satan so peter still don't know he still doesn't quite understand
14:29
the prophecies of the old testament of the christ must suffer and die and be raised on the third day it wasn't quite
14:35
clear they didn't get it so let's keep going now we are getting close to our verse
14:43
now in chapter 16 verse 24 to 27 we it's recorded then jesus told his
14:49
disciples if anyone would come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me
14:55
for whoever will save his life will lose it but whoever loses his life for my sake we'll find it for what will have why
15:02
will he profit a man if against the whole world and forfeits his soul what shall a man give in return for his
15:08
soul for the son of man is going to come with his angels and the glory of his father and then he
15:14
will repay each person according to what he has done okay
15:20
so the disciples did not want the lord to go through his appointed suffering they did not want that
15:25
so after rebuking peter he teaches them about the cost of discipleship the cost of following jesus he is preparing them
15:31
for the suffering of the cross and he tells them about his second coming in which he will come
15:36
in the glory of his father okay to reward each one so now we're going to go to verse 28
15:45
which is the verse of our focus remember we are building up to this okay so jesus says here truly i say to
15:51
you there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the son of man
15:57
coming in his kingdom now first we need to understand what coming in his kingdom means
16:03
if you don't understand that it's hard for us to interpret the scripture okay so that's what we need to do so to
16:09
do that we're going to go to mark 9 verse 1 and the same event is recorded
16:14
jesus said to them truly i tell you some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of god
16:21
that the kingdom of god has come with power you see the translation here some will not taste
16:28
death before they see that the kingdom of god has come with power and again he's only talking to his
16:33
disciples at the moment so i don't know if he's only the 12 disciples or there's a lot more disciples around
16:39
him maybe a lot more because he would probably the 12 were the ones that were close knit but i'm sure there were other people following him
16:46
but scripture says that he told his disciples so he was just talking to those that were
16:51
his disciples and he says that truly i tell you some who are standing here will not taste the death before they see
16:58
that the kingdom of god has come with power now in matthew we read the kingdom of god uh the son of man
17:05
coming in his kingdom okay so you can kind of see what's going on we need to understand what jesus was communicating
17:11
the kingdom of god has come with power so mark 9 mark 9 says the kingdom of god
17:17
has come with power so we need to know at the outset that jesus couldn't have been talking about
17:23
his second coming because when the early church fathers those that received the epistles from the apostles like
17:29
papias clement and polycarp and the others when they were deciding on what was considered the word of god or scripture
17:36
all the eyewitnesses and disciples of jesus were probably already dead at the time okay and if these pillars of the church
17:43
were vicious and fraudulent they would have gotten rid of any piece of information that would have suggested that jesus was a liar
17:51
remember they allowed those scriptures to remain for a purpose so they kept the integrity of the
17:57
scriptures because they believed the word of god but also understood what the inspired
18:03
words meant so when pete when when mark recorded this when martial recorded this the the early
18:10
church fathers they understood what they meant by that okay they kept the integrity of the
18:16
scripture if these guys were fraudulent and referred like oh this is controversial let's take it out they would have done it but they didn't they
18:23
kept it because they believed that this is the word of god and this is the truth because they understood what the author meant
18:31
by those words and that's what we need to do as well so let's keep going so what could matthew and mark
18:39
have been talking about that's what we need to understand here so now we need to know that this
18:45
was an unforgettable revelation so we're going to look at the following chapters both mark and matthew begin
18:52
with six days after that so we're going to look at that okay we're going to go to mark 9 verse 2 to 7 and we're also going to look at um
18:58
matthew 17 verse 1 to 9. so this is important we need to tie this to the last sentence jesus i just made
19:05
so let's go and do that right now so we're going to look at mark 9 verse 227 and matthew 17 verse 1 to 9.
19:12
now let's read this after six days this is 17 verse 1 begins after matthew 16 28
19:18
now remember something important when the writers of the gospel were writing they didn't subdivide this into
19:25
like chapters they were just it was continuing it wasn't like okay i'm done with chapter 16 chapter 17 no matthew was just writing
19:32
so these division was added later but when they were writing it wasn't
19:38
like they broke it into like portions it was something that was continuing it was going on so there's a connection between
19:44
chapter 16 and 17 in the same way there's a connection between 15 and 16. it's it's a connection it's connected
19:50
so read this in that light now he's saying it after six days jesus took him took
19:56
within peter james and john the brother of james and let them up on a high mountain by
20:01
themselves there he was transfigured before them his face shone like the sun and his
20:06
clothes became as white as the light just then there appeared before them moses and
20:11
elijah talking with jesus and peter said to jesus lord it is good for us to be here if you
20:17
wish i would put up three shelters one for you one for moses and one for elijah
20:23
while he was still speaking a bright cloud covered them and a voice from the cloud said
20:28
this is my son whom i love with him i'm well pleased listen to him when the disciples
20:36
when the disciples heard this they fell face down to the ground terrified but jesus came and touched
20:42
them get up he said don't be afraid when they looked up they saw no one except jesus
20:49
as they were coming down from the mountain jesus instructed them don't tell anyone what you've seen until
20:54
the son of man has been raised from the dead now we're going to go to mark 9
21:00
and read that as well in the same uh this is the same event in mark 9 so let's do that now and he
21:07
said to them truly i tell you some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of god has come with power
21:14
after six days jesus took peter james and john with him and led him up on a high mountain where
21:20
they were all alone there he was transfigured before them his clothes became dazzling white whiter than anyone in the
21:27
world could bleach them and there appeared before them elijah and moses we were talking with jesus and
21:32
peter said to jesus rabbi it is good for us to be here let us put three shelters
21:38
one for you one for moses and one for elijah he did not know what to say they were so frightened then the cloud
21:45
appeared and covered them and the voice came from the cloud this is my son whom i love listen to him
21:53
okay and now let's go back to our presentation we're gonna understand what's going on here
21:58
before we go to the presentation i also want to read this um passage and look now scripture says
22:04
from verse 27 or luke like chapter nine truly i tell you someone standing here will not taste death before they see the
22:11
kingdom of god now luke says the kingdom of god matthew says the kingdom of god the son
22:17
of man coming in his kingdom and then mark says the kingdom of god comes with power luke says they see the kingdom of god
22:24
okay so and then luke says here about eight days after jesus said this he took peter john and
22:31
james with him and went up on the mount onto a mountain to pray as he was praying the appearance of his face
22:37
changed and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning two men spoke two men moses and elijah
22:44
appeared in glorious splendor talking with jesus they spoke about his departure which he was about to bring to
22:50
fulfillment at jerusalem peter and his companion were very sleepy but when they became fully awake
22:55
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him as the men were leaving jesus peter said to the master it is good for
23:01
us to be here let us put up three shadows one for you one from moses and one for elijah he did not know what he was saying while
23:09
he was speaking the cloud appeared and covered them and they were afraid as they entered the cloud a voice came from
23:14
the cloud saying this is my son who have chosen listen to him when the voice had spoken they found
23:20
that jesus was alone the disciple kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at the time they had seen what
23:25
they had seen okay so it's great to always have like
23:31
multiple sources giving us their take on the event i love this now let's go back and i want
23:37
to show you something here so now let's analyze this matthew says
23:43
after six days jesus took within peter james and john right mark says after six days jesus took
23:50
peter james and john with him and led him up on the high mountain and then luke says about eight days
23:57
after jesus jesus had said this now some people look at this and be like
24:02
oh oh problem matthew mark mentioned six days luke mentioned eight days what is going
24:08
on we have a problem now you have to look at it again i told you i'm a mathematician so
24:15
i'll i kind of love when this happened because i know god this is god's word and god can never be
24:22
proved wrong because god is the author of the scripture now my um luke says about eight days
24:30
after jesus said this said what eight days after he said truly i tell you someone who are
24:35
standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of god so his
24:41
look is coming from that day to when the transfiguration happens right
24:47
matthew is counting six days after that day he said this so in between
24:52
matthew and mark are kind of counting days that led up to that event after jesus said this six days took
24:59
place and then on after that he takes him on the mountain so matthew and luke are counting the in
25:06
between days while luke is counting from the day he made that statement this is incredible so there is no
25:12
contradiction it's just incredible because god's word is incredible so now let's go back to
25:18
our presentation and then we're gonna see what happens
25:25
so we looked at matthew 17 verse 1 and 9 luke 9 verse 23 to 23-28
25:31
so when you come across passages like this it's always good to see if there's anything remotely close to
25:37
this in scripture and the best passages that i found that were that were kind of like similar to this uh
25:43
glorious event that happened the transfiguration is uh isaiah 6 and revelation 1 13 to 16 they are
25:50
pretty similar to what's taking place here so let's see there and then we're going to come back and make our our connection and
25:56
conclusion so in revelation 1 verse 13 to 16 these
26:01
these are the revelations of john he says and among the limestone was someone like a son of man
26:06
dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest the hair on his
26:12
head was white like wood as white as snow and his eyes were like blazing fire
26:17
his feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters and he's in his right
26:24
hand he held seven stars and coming out of his mouth was a sharp double edged sword his face was like the
26:31
sun shining in all his brilliance and now let's go to isaiah 6. isaiah 6 in the year that king uzziah
26:39
died i saw the lord high and exalted seated on the throne and the train of his robe filled the
26:47
temple above him where the seraphim each had six wings with two wings they covered their faces
26:52
with two they covered their feet and with two they were flying and they were calling to one another
26:58
holy holy holy is the lord almighty the whole earth is full of his glory and
27:04
the sound of their voices the door post and threshold shook and the temple was filled with smoke
27:10
woe to me i cried i'm ruined from a man of unclean lips and i'll leave among your people off on
27:16
clean lips and my eyes have seen the king the lord almighty now you can kind of see what's going on
27:22
isaiah john matthew peter and james they all fell face
27:28
down to the ground terrified because they saw the glory of christ they saw and they
27:35
heard and it was a place of trembling and fear because there was a manifestation of the glory of
27:41
god and they could not buried us because we are sinful people and we come in contact with the
27:47
holy god and his power is manifested we get frightened
27:52
you can see that now there's another key thing that we need to mention
27:57
why would jesus tell the disciples not to say anything to anyone until until he's risen from
28:03
the dead he told them don't mention this vision to anybody until i'm risen from the dead we
28:09
need to understand why this is important because we need to know why what was so incredible about
28:15
that experience okay he revealed his glory to james john and peter they had the most exalted
28:22
terrestrial view of jesus and i i don't know where i could exhale that that's a stupid thing they had the most exalted view of jesus
28:30
that any men could experience okay they had seen the glorious christ in his true glory he gave them a glimpse
28:36
of his glory so we also have to remember that before this event he had rebuked peter
28:43
after god the father revealed the true identity of christ peter because jesus himself said flesh and
28:49
blood did not reveal that to you so we have to remember that but before that he rebuked peter
28:55
now why am i saying all this the inner circle had seen that he was indeed the glorious son of god
29:01
they heard the voice of god and trembled with fear so jesus didn't want them to stir up the others
29:06
until he finished his mission go to the cross because they could have said he's really the son of god let's prevent
29:13
him from going to the cross you know they could have stirred a crowd this is why jesus said to peter
29:19
behind me get behind satan because he did not want them to stop his plan from unfolding he
29:25
had to go to the cross so he didn't want them to become a stumbling block and if they mentioned that glorious
29:31
vision that they saw the power of god they could have kind of stopped it from happening they could have started
29:37
crying and said we saw it we saw his glory we saw everything he's the son of god do not let anything happen we're going
29:42
to stand against the pharisees we are going to stand so jesus did not want any of it because they had seen the son
29:48
of god come with his true power on that mountain we need to understand that this is
29:54
important so what are my concluding thoughts the reason why both matthew and mark
30:01
mentioned the six days is because six days after jesus made that statement about coming in his power he truly came in his power on the
30:08
mountain of transfiguration and the disciples had to testify about the experience about what they
30:14
experienced thus confirming the word of christ in matthew 16 28 basically the reason why they said six
30:20
days after that jesus took them on the mountain they were connecting the two
30:28
um they were making a connection between his statement in in matthew 16 verse 28
30:33
and what happened on the mountain or they would have mentioned six days after matthew said and luke says
30:39
about six days after he had said this something happened so luke is trying to
30:46
connect the two uh event saying after after eight days after he said he made a
30:52
statement about there are some here will not taste death until they see the son of god
30:58
come in power he took him on the mountain so you see there's a connection between those two he took on the mountain to
31:05
show them what to show them his glory to show them the powerful kingdom of god they had an
31:11
experience of it you see that so you have to make the connection between
31:17
the two event because the writers were doing it we can't try to ascribe meaning to a
31:24
passage by fetching from sources or like i don't even know how people do that i'm saying
31:30
this scripture is his own interpreter luke would have said about eight days after he made that statement
31:36
he took him on the mountain yes because he's connecting making that statement to going on the
31:42
mountain and jesus words came through they saw the glory of god
31:48
on that mountain and they did not taste death they hadn't tasted death yet in the
31:54
sense that they saw his true glory on the mountain because when jesus comes back a second time he's not going to be
32:01
meek like he was the first time he's going to come in his glory and they had an experience they had
32:07
an experience of that glory how he's going to come back in his true glory and power they will see that in
32:14
the whole world we see when it comes with his glory and the disciples
32:20
had an experience of that and i'm sure when they had it they just thought to themself we are
32:26
here with the creator the son of god so why does he have to go to the cross
32:31
and they didn't want this is why jesus told them don't say anything to anyone until i rise from the dead
32:36
because he did not want them to become a stumbling block they had experienced his glory to the nth degree and that
32:44
could have caused them to stir up the crowd and say no no we've seen something and you guys need to know so he said
32:49
don't say a word until i rise from the dead because they saw him come with power
32:57
that's the way i believe the scripture is going now some may disagree with me i don't claim
33:03
that this is i i in again when it comes to scripture we are all standing on shaky ground
33:09
because we can't try to manipulate the script i don't want to do that but i believe if you truly read the
33:15
scripture in light of the past event you make the connection you can kind of see what's going on
33:20
there because the word of god is accurate and there is meaning behind everything i don't think is by accident that
33:27
matthew and mark both say six days after that day something happened because they were connecting
33:33
jesus's words with what they experienced to show that this man is the truth he's the way the truth in
33:39
the life and his word is true because he said something about his power and we saw it
33:45
they were trying to show us because remember john 20 31 these are written so that you may believe that jesus is the son of god
33:53
you see that and they were writing for that purpose to show us to show us that listen his words came true again on that
33:59
mountain we saw him we saw his glory we saw his power
34:04
so hopefully gentlemen that asked me the question hopefully this helps you i know it was a lot of going back and
34:09
forth but i was trying to be as accurate as i can be it's not really easy okay
34:14
have a wonderful day and i'll see you next time thank you
