Answering The Muslim Critic Part1: Conflicts In The Genealogy Of Jesus, Matthew Vs Luke
20 views
Feb 20, 2025
I shared a post yesterday via Youtube discussing why as fallen creatures we can’t see God. And out of nowhere this Muslim guy sent me a barrage of scripted/robotic messages that he learned probably from his superiors, attempting to discredit the word of God. He sent me a bunch of supposedly conflicting passages to prove his case. I told him that I was going to answer his objections one a time, and today I'm addressing the genealogy of Jesus. According to this individual, both Matthew and Luke reported conflicting information about Jesus’s earthly genealogy, so let’s go to the Scriptures and analyze this, see video

hey what's going on guys this is T at
0:02
ts.com and uh this is like actually a
0:05
new thing that I'm doing today because
0:08
yesterday I shared a a video and the the
0:10
question was if God exists why can't we
0:13
see God and I answered a question in um
0:17
the video and I talked about why we
0:19
can't see God and this guy uh I guess
0:22
his name is Zach cat I'm not sure where
0:25
he's from so he basically just started
0:27
to to kind of ask a lot of questions
0:29
about Christianity and how the Bible is
0:31
not the word of God because he gave me
0:34
so many reasons why and then uh he uh I
0:38
told him hey you're talking a whole lot
0:39
but you're not giving me specifics to
0:41
work with so he went ahead and gave me a
0:44
bunch of objections and I told him okay
0:46
I'm going to answer those objection one
0:48
at a time because I don't have time to
0:49
do all of them and the way he was uh
0:51
answering my questions when I was
0:53
talking to him he almost sounded like a
0:56
robot kind of like he was just like I
0:57
ask one question and he gave me like
1:00
Pages worth of stuff and I'm like okay
1:02
first of all how can you answer so quick
1:04
unless you have this thing kind of
1:06
scripted somewhere where whoever is like
1:08
talking to you or your Superior has
1:10
given you these cliche answers that you
1:12
give to Christians or whoever you're
1:14
talking to to try to convince them or
1:16
some kind of uh whatever you believe
1:19
your belief system is and I found out he
1:20
was a Muslim and it's funny because when
1:23
people hear my name t salami they kind
1:25
of assume I'm a Muslim you know and then
1:27
they kind of want hey my brother hey I'm
1:29
still your your brother but I'm not
1:31
Muslim you know I'm a Christian and I
1:32
have reasons why I'm a Christian because
1:34
I know this is the truth now again I'm
1:36
not here to debate because I don't feel
1:39
like it's it's necessary but when you
1:41
ask me questions and you have objections
1:44
I'm willing to put in the work to tell
1:46
you why I believe what I believe so I
1:49
told him I'm going to go one at a time
1:51
and the first question that he asked was
1:52
the genealogy of Jesus he talked about
1:54
that how uh in Matthew uh 1: 6-16
1:58
there's like differences and
2:00
this is what he said here I tried to
2:02
find a comment on my YouTube but he took
2:03
it off or somebody took it off I don't
2:04
know who did it so this is what he said
2:07
here how could inspired words of God get
2:09
the genealogy of Jesus Incorrect and he
2:11
says see Matthew 1 verse 6-16 where it
2:15
states 26 for fathers of the Prophet
2:17
David and Luke 3 23-31 says 41 in number
2:22
so that's what I'm going to be talking
2:24
about today so I did that and then we're
2:26
gonna get into it so again I'm gonna
2:29
give you my quick introduction which I
2:31
just talked about and uh again I I said
2:36
what I just said here I said it in my uh
2:38
in my uh introduction earlier so I don't
2:40
have to read this again for you so I
2:43
guess you say that both Matthew and Luke
2:46
report like conflicting information
2:47
about Jesus uh Earthly genealogy so
2:50
we're going to go to scriptures and
2:52
we're going to analyze this so let's do
2:53
that
2:54
now so basically first thing is this
2:58
we're going to read both P passages and
3:00
then we are going to analyze the
3:02
differences so let me go to Matthew 1
3:04
verse
3:04
1-16 so this is what Matthew says the
3:08
book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ
3:11
the son of David the son of Abraham
3:13
Abraham was the father of Isaac Isaac
3:16

4:09
Amos the father of Josiah and Josiah the
4:12
father of Janiah and his brothers at the
4:14
time of the deportation to Babylon and
4:18
after the deportation to Babylon Janiah
4:20
was the father of shaltiel and shtiel
4:22
the father of zerubabel and zerubabel
4:25
the father of abud and abud the father
4:27
of elim elim the father father of AAR

and Azar the father of zok and zok the
4:33
father of Akim and Akim the father of
4:35
elud and elud the father of elazar and
4:38
elazar the father of marthan and marthan
4:40
the father of Jacob and Jacob the father
4:42
of Joseph the husband of Mary of whom
4:45
Jesus was born who is called Christ now
4:49
let's go to Luke 3 verse 23 to 37 Jesus
4:55
when he began his ministry was about 30
4:57
years of age being the son as of as was
5:00
supposed of Joseph the son of heli the
5:03

6:03
the son of Jacob the son of Isaac the
6:05
son of Abraham the son of terara the son
6:07
of nahor the son of suuk the son of Ru
6:10
the son of spag the son of abar the son
6:13
of shellah the son of kinan the son of
6:16
arah the son of Shem the son of Noah the
6:19
son of lamech the son of methus the son
6:23
of Enoch the son of Jared the son of
6:25
Mahal the son of Kanan the son of Enos
6:28
the son of Seth the son of Adam the Son
6:30
of
6:31
God
6:33
okay after this really hard uh
6:36
pronunciation now let's go back to the
6:39
presentation so
6:40
basically we need to understand a couple
6:43
of things at the outset like each writer
6:47
Matthew and Luke had a different
6:50
audience in mind see Matthew wrote like
6:53
primarily to the Jews to prove that
6:55
Jesus was indeed the Christ so when he
6:57
wrote the genealogy he began with the
6:59
following verse like he said the book of
7:03
the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of
7:05
David the son of Abraham okay now
7:09
obviously David was not the immediate
7:11
father of Jesus where he uses the son in
7:14
the sense that he's of the line of um
7:17
David and David wasn't the immediate son
7:20
of Abraham but the term son here means
7:22
of the
7:23
lineage that's first how we are to
7:25
understand like this now usually in
7:27
scriptures when people of Jewish
7:28
background were looking for Mercy from
7:30
Jesus they often called him son of
7:34
David basically alluding to his kingship
7:37
lineage so God also made a promise to
7:39
Abraham in Genesis 15 verse 3-6 he said
7:43
and Abraham said behold you have given
7:45
me no Offspring and a member of my
7:47
household will be my Heir and behold the
7:50
word of the Lord came to him this man
7:52
shall not be your Heir your very own son
7:54
shall be your Heir and he brought him
7:56
outside and said look toward heaven and
7:58
Number the Stars if you are able to
8:00
number them then he said so shall your
8:02
Offspring be and he believed the Lord
8:04
and he counted it to him as
8:06
righteousness so God gave Abraham a
8:08
promise of a air and Jesus talks about
8:11
this in John
8:12
8:56 your father Abraham rejoiced that
8:15
he would see my day he saw it and was
8:17
glad so you see this is what Matthew had
8:20
in mind he wanted to prove that Jesus
8:23
indeed was of the lineage of David and
8:26
Abraham basically that's what he had in
8:28
mind because he was of a Jewish
8:30
background so let's keep going so
8:34
basically he was trying to prove that
8:36
the to the Jews that Jesus was indeed
8:37
the promised Messiah okay now what about
8:40
Luke let's look at Luke see Luke wrote
8:44
his gospel primarily to authenticate the
8:47
claims of the other gospels if you look
8:49
at verse 1-4 he says in as much as many
8:52
have undertaken to compile A Narrative
8:54
of the things that have been
8:55
accomplished Among Us just as those who
8:58
from the beginning were eye witnesses
9:00
and Ministers of the word have delivered
9:02
them to us it seemed good to me also
9:05
having followed all things closely
9:08
closely from some time past to write an
9:10
orderly account for you most excellent
9:12
Theophilus that you may have certainty
9:15
concerning the things you have been
9:16
taught so basically you understand that
9:18
Luke was basically like a detective now
9:21
when when Luke wrote the genealogy of
9:23
Jesus to remind us of God's promise he
9:25
wrote this because of Genesis 3:15 I
9:28
believe because Genesis 3:15 after the
9:31
fall this is what God says to the
9:34
serpent I will put enemity between you
9:36
and the woman and between your Offspring
9:39
and her Offspring he shall bruise your
9:41
head and you shall bruise his heel so if
9:44
you
9:45
look the salvation of humanity through
9:48
God the man Jesus so we're going to talk
9:51
about why the genealogy differs but
9:54
before that I want to show you one more
9:56
thing in in the Book of Luke first if
9:58
you look at uh Luke
9:59
verse 22 3:22 and the Holy Spirit
10:04
descended on him in bodily form like a
10:06
dove and a voice Came From Heaven you
10:08
are my beloved Son with you I'm well
10:11
pleased God just made a statement about
10:13
Jesus being his son so and then
10:16
automatically after that um Luke goes
10:19
into proving that he is indeed the Son
10:21
of God so keep that in mind and let's go
10:23
back to this here so now we're going to
10:26
talk about the differences okay the main
10:29
difference
10:30
here beginning and Jacob the father of
10:33
Joseph the husband of Mary of whom Jesus
10:35
was born was who was called Christ okay
10:37
Matthew 1:16 so like I said Matthew
10:41
traced the genealogy of Jesus Through
10:43
Joseph kingley lineage to show that
10:45
Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah
10:47
which I told you earlier now look Jesus
10:51
when he began his ministry was about 30
10:52
years of age being the son was as was
10:55
supposed of Joseph the son of Eli heli
10:58
now the main problem here the identity
10:59
of his heer here here's the problem like
11:02
if you look at in Matthew's account
11:04
Matthew said Jacob was the father of
11:07
Joseph while Luke says heli was his
11:09
father so what do we
11:12
do hey I guess we cut these Pages out of
11:15
scriptures and stop the problem right n
11:18
no we're not going to do that we're not
11:19
going to run away from like this kind of
11:21
hard problems we're going to deal with
11:23
it right what we do is we investigate to
11:26
find out if there is a contradiction so
11:28
I want you to go back to Genesis 38
11:31
verse
11:32
6-9 scripture says and Judah took a wife
11:34
for ER his firstborn and her name was
11:36
Tamar but ER judah's firstborn was
11:39
wicked in the sight of the Lord and the
11:41
Lord put him to death then Judah said to
11:44
Onan go into your brother's wife and
11:46
perform the duty of a brother-in-law to
11:47
her and raise up Offspring for your
11:50
brother but on knew that the offspring
11:52
would not be his so whenever he went
11:54
into his brother's wife he would waste
11:56
the seen on the ground so as not to give
11:58
Offspring to his his brother so you see
12:01
this was a practice in those times where
12:05
whenever let's say I had a wife and I
12:07
died my brother will go into my wife and
12:11
raise of Offspring on my behalf that
12:14
prevalent in some countries like in in
12:16
in in some other third world countries
12:17
it still happens okay so this is what's
12:20
happening here I'm trying to prove I'm
12:21
trying to show you something you can
12:23
clearly see here that if Tamar had been
12:26
impregnated by Onan the child would have
12:28
been biologically own son but legally he
12:30
would have been ER son so if someone
12:33
were to write the genealogy of the child
12:35
it could have gone gone like both ways
12:37
he could have he could have been called
12:39
the son of Onin biologically and the son
12:41
of er legally so you see my point let me
12:45
give you another one in like in Genesis
12:47
37: 911 I'm going to show you something
12:49
else
12:50
here say this is the the story of Joseph
12:54
now Joseph has these dreams and the
12:56
scripture says then he dreamed another
12:58
dream and told it to brother us and said
13:00
behold I have dreamed another dream
13:02
behold the Sun the moon and 11 stars
13:04
were bowing down to me but when he told
13:06
it to his father and his his brothers
13:08
his father rebuked him and said what is
13:11
this dream that you're having shall I
13:13
and your mother and your brothers indeed
13:15
come to Bow ourselves to the ground
13:16
before you and his brothers were jealous
13:19
of him but his father kept the saying in
13:20
mind now you got to understand like at
13:23
this moment Joseph's mom was already
13:25
dead so his mom was Rachel she was there
13:28
so so how come Jacob said shall I and
13:31
your mother bow ourselves to the ground
13:32
before you he wasn't talking about a
13:34
dead woman coming back to life so what
13:36
do you think Jacob was talking about he
13:39
was of course referring to BHA Rachel's
13:42
servant if you go to Genesis 30:3 the
13:45
scripture says then she said here is my
13:47
servant bilha go into her so that she
13:49
may give birth on my behalf that even I
13:51
may have children through her you see
13:55
that so the children's Mother will be uh
13:58
will be BHA
14:00
biologically but legally the children
14:02
will be um rachal Sten children so this
14:06
is a common practice in in Jewish
14:08
culture okay at the time so you can see
14:11
where I'm going with it heli might have
14:14
been Joseph's adopted legal father while
14:17
Jacob mentioned by Matthew was his
14:20
biological father for all I know the
14:22
writers kept all the records and they
14:24
were given accurate information so I
14:26
don't see any problem with that at all
14:29
and let me go a little step further I
14:30
want you to reason here a little bit
14:33
look put your thinking caps on for a
14:35
minute don't you think the early church
14:37
knew that those differences were there
14:40
like pepas or papus polycarp they knew
14:43
all these things right so if you and I
14:46
can see the differences clearly don't
14:48
you think that the early church actually
14:49
knew that and they were aware of it when
14:51
the cannon was being formed they could
14:53
have easily embellished and edited and
14:55
cleaned up all these seemingly Loose
14:57
Ends why do you you think they didn't do
15:00
it number one to preserve the Integrity
15:02
of
15:03
scripture to preserve the Integrity of
15:06
scripture they were not going to change
15:07
anything because they knew that when
15:10
Luke was writing that he was inspired by
15:11
the holy spirit so is Matthew because
15:14
there is a purpose in mind but they also
15:17
understood that the
15:18
purpose Luke had a purpose and Matthew
15:21
had a purpose Matthew was almost he's a
15:23
doctor so when he was writing he was
15:25
writing a lot to Gentiles and to the
15:27
rest of the world Matthew
15:30
had Jewish in people in mind so they
15:32
each had a purpose I already told you
15:35
what a purpose was so there is no
15:37
contradiction so again I don't know why
15:41
people don't really investigate these
15:43
claims like before you say something you
15:45
need to know what you're talking about
15:47
okay so this is our answer objection
15:49
number one so we're going to go into the
15:51
next one maybe tomorrow or some other
15:52
day all right and I'll see you next time
