In chapter 4 of the book of Hebrews, Paul or the author puts a huge emphasis on the nature and consequences of a hardened heart. Those who continue to resist the Word of God eventually fail to enter His rest, they go from bad to worse. I want us to look at Paul or the author’s exposition of a hardened heart. I believe it’s important that we examine ourselves to see where we stand in this matter. We’re going to be exploring Hebrews 4:1-13, see video

hello good morning this is taiva
0:02
kybes.com
0:03
and today we are going to be looking at
0:05
hebrews chapter 4
0:07
verse 1 to 13 and the title of the study
0:10
is today if you hear his voice do not
0:13
harden your heart
0:15
now um this is a recurring theme in the
0:17
book of hebrews
0:19
and i'm gonna jump into my introduction
0:22
and uh basically in the chapter four
0:26
of the book of hebrews paul or the
0:28
author i think it's paul
0:29
i wrote it but people argue about it so
0:32
i'm not going to get into that today but
0:33
i believe it's part because the writing
0:35
seems like it's a pauline writing so
0:38
but i'm going to put paul or the author
0:40
so paula the author
0:42
puts a huge emphasis on the nature and
0:44
consequences of your heart and heart
0:47
so those who continue to resist the word
0:49
of god eventually fall
0:51
fail to enter his rest and they go from
0:54
bad
0:55
to worse so i want us to look at paul or
0:57
the author's exposition of
0:59
what it means to have a hardened heart
1:02
so we're going to look at that today
1:03
and i believe it's important to that we
1:05
examine ourselves
1:06
to see where we stand uh in this matter
1:09
so we're going to be looking at hebrews
1:12
chapter 4 verse 1-13
1:13
okay so let's get into it so the first
1:16
thing we're going to do is uh i'm going
1:18
to go to the scripture
1:19
we're going to read it and then we're
1:21
going to take it verse by verse
1:23
so i'm just going to play it in the
1:24
background and then you can listen
1:27
and because i like the guy's diction
1:28
better than mine so i'm gonna play it
1:30
and then once i play it uh we are going
1:32
to uh analyze it
1:34
okay so let me hit the play button and
1:36
i'm gonna go back to the scripture you
1:37
can read
1:38
alongside i should look at my screen
1:43
therefore since the promise of entering
1:45
his rest still stands
1:47
let us be careful that none of you be
1:49
found to have fallen short of it
1:51
for we also have had the good news
1:53
proclaimed to us
1:54
just as they did but the message they
1:57
heard
1:57
was of no value to them because they did
2:00
not share the faith
2:01
of those who obeyed now we who have
2:04
believed enter that rest
2:06
just as god has said so i declared on
2:08
oath in my anger
2:09
they shall never enter my rest and yet
2:12
his works have been finished since the
2:14
creation of the world
2:16
for somewhere he has spoken about the
2:17
seventh day and these words
2:19
on the seventh day god rested from all
2:22
his works
2:24
and again in the passage above he says
2:26
they shall never
2:27
enter my rest therefore
2:30
since it still remains for some to enter
2:32
that rest
2:34
and since those who formerly had the
2:35
good news proclaimed to them did not go
2:37
in
2:38
because of their disobedience god again
2:41
set a certain day calling it today
2:44
this he did when a long time later he
2:46
spoke through david
2:48
as in the passage already quoted today
2:51
if you hear his voice do not harden your
2:54
hearts
2:55
for if joshua had given them rest god
2:57
would not have spoken later about
2:59
another day
3:00
there remains then a sabbath rest for
3:02
the people of god
3:04
for anyone who enters god's rest also
3:07
rests from their works
3:08
just as god did from his let us
3:11
therefore make every effort to enter
3:13
that rest
3:14
so that no one will perish by following
3:17
their example
3:18
of disobedience for the word of god
3:21
is alive and active sharper than any
3:24
double-edged sword
3:25
it penetrates even to dividing soul and
3:28
spirit
3:29
joints and marrow it judges the thoughts
3:32
and attitudes of the heart
3:34
nothing in all creation is hidden from
3:36
god's sight
3:37
everything is uncovered and laid bare
3:40
before the eyes of him to whom we must
3:42
give
3:42
account and then we'll stop here because
3:45
that's all i wanted to
3:46
uh um focus on so this is the word of
3:48
god and i hope that when you
3:50
listen to this word it produces an
3:52
action in you
3:53
so now we're gonna get into dissecting
3:55
each verse uh one at a time
3:58
so let's go back to our presentation and
4:00
then we're gonna go from uh
4:03
verse one so one at a time okay
4:07
so the first verse is verse one he says
4:10
therefore since the promise of entering
4:13
his rest
4:14
still stands let us be careful that none
4:16
of you be found
4:17
to have fallen short of it so what does
4:20
that mean
4:22
god has prepared a place of rest for his
4:25
people
4:26
and that place of rest is still standing
4:28
and available to this day
4:30
it was available when the book of
4:32
hebrews was being written
4:34
and it's still up for grabs today so the
4:37
question is
4:38
have you and i fallen short of it the
4:41
same way
4:42
paul and and the people that were
4:44
listening to him
4:45
fell short of it and we need to know why
4:48
they fell short of it and the answer to
4:50
that to that question is in verse two he
4:52
says in verse two
4:54
for we also had the good news
4:58
proclaimed to us just as they did but
5:01
the message
5:02
they heard was of no value to them
5:04
because
5:05
they did not share the faith of those
5:07
who obeyed so what does that mean
5:09
basically they failed to enter the rest
5:12
of god
5:12
because they did not hear the words with
5:15
ears of faith
5:16
and that's so important ears of faith
5:18
scripture says that without faith it's
5:20
impossible to please god that's hebrews
5:22
11
5:22
6. so they were not united by faith with
5:25
those who obeyed
5:26
because faith produces in the one who
5:29
hears
5:30
and yields the command of god an action
5:32
that's the action
5:33
faith produces obedience basically when
5:36
you hear the word of god
5:38
and you hear ears of faith it produces
5:40
obedience
5:41
so therefore that obedience is the
5:43
result of the faith that was produced in
5:44
you
5:45
by the word of god okay so romans 10 17
5:48
says
5:48
we know that true faith comes by hearing
5:51
and hearing comes by the word of god
5:53
and god made it our way so that the
5:55
glory can become his
5:58
our obedience glorifies the faith that
6:00
god has given us
6:01
and god has granted to us because
6:03
philippians 2 13 says
6:04
it is him who works in us both to will
6:06
and act according to
6:08
his good purpose so those people when
6:10
they heard the word of god
6:11
it didn't produce that kind of faith in
6:13
them because they didn't receive it by
6:15
faith
6:15
and faith comes from god
6:19
this is important to understand let's go
6:21
to the next
6:23
we need to know who enters the rest of
6:26
god who else
6:28
okay in verse 3 scripture says nah
6:31
we will have believed enter that rest
6:34
just as god has said so i declared on
6:38
off in my anger
6:40
they shall never enter my rest
6:43
and yet his works have been finished
6:46
since the creation of the world we need
6:47
to understand
6:48
that verse as well see the prerequisite
6:51
for entering the rest of god is faith
6:54
believing in god
6:55
so what disqualifies a person from
6:58
entering the rest of god
6:59
is unbelief faithlessness or a lack of
7:02
faith
7:03
so those who count on their own works
7:05
cut themselves out
7:07
from entering the rest of god for they
7:09
do not believe god
7:10
and they don't internalize his promises
7:12
and they put no
7:14
faith in his word and for that reason
7:16
god
7:17
declares that they will never enter his
7:20
rest
7:20
the rest still remains to this day but
7:23
some will never enter the rest of god
7:26
and we we talked about it we talked
7:28
about why because of a lack of faith
7:30
because
7:31
faith comes from god and those are
7:33
trying to
7:34
do things in their own terms and on
7:36
their own
7:37
will never enter the rest of god because
7:39
when they receive the word of god
7:40
they don't receive it by faith they try
7:42
to produce something
7:44
from their own mind from their own
7:46
understanding from their own
7:48
and that is not pleasant to god because
7:49
scripture says
7:51
without faith it's impossible to please
7:53
god
7:54
okay now does the rest still stand to
7:56
this day
7:57
we're going to find out in verse 4 and 5
8:00
what is verse 45 say for somewhere he
8:03
has spoken about the seventh day
8:05
in these words on the seventh day god
8:08
rested from all his works and again in
8:11
the passage above
8:12
he says they shall never enter my rest
8:16
so god's rest is still available today
8:19
it was available then
8:20
and it's still available today when the
8:22
book of hebrews are being written
8:24
because jesus hasn't returned yet
8:27
so god rested from his works in creation
8:30
we need to make that distinction
8:32
he rested from his work of creation his
8:35
works of creation
8:36
the six days or periods of creation
8:38
however long they lasted
8:39
so god rest us from those creation days
8:42
okay so we are still in the seventh days
8:45
in the seventh day
8:46
based on the scripture so we are still
8:48
in day seven because god is still the
8:51
rest of god still remains to this day
8:53
so we are still in the seventh day
8:55
because god's rest is still
8:57
standing and the scripture says they
9:00
shall never
9:01
enter my rest this man means that god's
9:03
rest is still available to this day
9:06
the rest is still up for grabs so let's
9:08
let's keep that in mind
9:09
okay so my question is
9:12
are you hearing the voice of god today
9:16
are you hearing the voice of god and i'm
9:17
gonna get into what that means
9:19
in a minute so in verse six and seven
9:23
the scripture says therefore since it
9:25
still remains
9:26
for some to enter that rest and since
9:28
those who formerly had the good news
9:30
proclaimed to them did not go in because
9:32
of their disobedience
9:34
god again said a certain day calling me
9:36
today
9:37
this he did when a long time later he
9:40
spoke through david
9:41
as in the passage all recorded so
9:43
basically
9:45
uh and the passage quote it says today
9:48
if you hear his voice do not
9:51
harden your hearts so we need to
9:54
understand that
9:55
the rest is still available that's not
9:57
the question so the writer
9:59
reiterates the reasons why some failed
10:01
to enter
10:02
disobedience so to enter the rest of god
10:06
is contingent on our obedience of the
10:08
word of god so
10:10
to enter the hero the rest of god is
10:13
basically dependent on your obedience of
10:15
the word of god
10:16
so it may sound like a salvation by
10:18
words but it is that we need to
10:19
understand that
10:21
jesus said if you love me you will obey
10:24
my commands
10:25
so people read that verse and they go
10:27
well
10:28
uh if you really love jesus you'll
10:30
always comment yes but what does
10:32
jesus what is jesus saying to us jesus
10:34
says he said somewhere in 1st john 4
10:37
4 9 14 i think first john 4 9
10:41
we love him because he first loved us
10:44
in other words the only reason why
10:46
anyone
10:47
can obey the word of god is because god
10:50
himself
10:51
granted them the ability to obey him
10:54
this is so important
10:55
the only reason why you and i can obey
10:57
the word of god the only reason why you
10:59
and i can
11:00
love jesus is because he first loved us
11:03
so the author of hebrews was asking his
11:06
audience
11:07
are you hearing the voice of god today
11:09
and i'm going to submit the same
11:10
question to you
11:11
are you hearing the word of god today
11:14
and when i say hearing i'm saying
11:16
is he producing fruits in your life or
11:18
are you resisting it
11:19
because the one who loves god will obey
11:21
the word of god because god himself has
11:23
enabled that person
11:25
to obey the word of god so is the word
11:27
of god
11:28
producing fruit in your life or are you
11:30
resisting it
11:31
are you hearing the voice of god when
11:33
you hear the voice of god
11:34
when you hear the word of god is he
11:36
producing a fruit in your life
11:39
and are you obeying it because obedience
11:41
to the word of god
11:42
is a clear sign that you have been in
11:44
dwell with the holy spirit
11:46
because only the holy spirit loves the
11:48
word of god
11:49
because without faith it's impossible to
11:52
please god
11:52
and faith comes from god
11:56
himself so is that you are you hearing
11:59
the voice of god today
12:00
is the question and and we need to know
12:04
verse 8 says joshua couldn't give the
12:06
people rest and that's so important
12:08
because it's going to explain why they
12:10
couldn't joshua couldn't give them rest
12:12
see the scripture says in verse 8 for if
12:14
joshua had given them rest
12:17
god would not have spoken later about
12:19
another day
12:20
so the observation joshua could not give
12:23
the people
12:24
rest and this is why god spoke about the
12:26
coming of the messiah
12:28
where him he himself would circumcise
12:30
the hearts of the people
12:32
so they could obey god and we need to go
12:34
to joshua 24
12:35
16 to 19. that's so important i want us
12:37
to go to that passage so let's go there
12:39
so joshua gives like an admonition to
12:41
the people he's calling them to serve
12:43
the lord he's telling them
12:44
this is what's going to happen if you
12:45
serve the lord and we're going to pick
12:47
it up from verse 16.
12:48
then the people answered fabric from us
12:51
to forsake the lord to serve other gods
12:53
it was the lord our god himself brothers
12:56
and our parents
12:57
up out of egypt from that land of
12:59
slavery and performed
13:00
those great signs before our very eyes
13:03
he protected us on our entire journey
13:05
and among all the nations through which
13:07
we traveled
13:08
and the lord drove out before us all the
13:10
nations including the amorites who lived
13:13
in the land
13:14
we too would serve the lord because he
13:16
is our god
13:17
and joshua says this to the people
13:20
you are not able to serve the lord
13:24
for he is a holy god he is a jealous god
13:27
and he will not forgive your rebellion
13:29
and your sins
13:30
imagine listening to joshua saying that
13:32
to you you are
13:33
not able to serve the lord do you know
13:35
what i mean that's
13:37
it carries so much meaning and i want us
13:38
to look at that a little closer
13:41
so when i first read that it stunned me
13:43
and i'm like why did
13:44
did he say that and we need to find out
13:46
see one thing joshua understood was that
13:49
the righteous shall live by faith alone
13:52
and without faith it's impossible to
13:54
please god
13:55
see god granted joshua the mind to
13:58
understand that unless the lord himself
14:01
regenerates one's heart it's impossible
14:04
to obey him this is why he told the
14:05
people
14:06
you are not able to serve the lord your
14:09
god
14:10
okay because anyone who obeys god has
14:13
been
14:13
regenerated because by nature we
14:16
hate the words of god by nature we are
14:19
resistant
14:20
of his word we don't like the word of
14:23
god because we are born with that sinful
14:25
nature
14:25
this is why joshua said to the people
14:27
you are not able to serve the lord your
14:29
god you cannot
14:32
she's yes some may try to obey the law
14:35
but their righteousness will just be
14:37
similar to that of the pharisees it's
14:38
going to be superficial
14:40
it's not going to be lasting and this is
14:42
why the rest of god
14:44
comes from god himself because god
14:46
himself is the one that grants you the
14:48
ability to obey him
14:50
so that god gets the glory
14:53
okay so this is why the scripture says
14:55
if you hear his voice
14:56
do not harden your heart because if you
14:59
have been grieving the ability to hear
15:01
the voice of god
15:02
and the words of god and if you have you
15:04
have the ability to not resist it
15:06
is because god himself has granted you
15:09
the ability to do that
15:10
because you can't do that on your own no
15:12
man loves the word of god
15:13
there's none righteous only jesus
15:18
so are you rested is the question are
15:20
you in a place of rest
15:21
so verse 9 10 says there remains then a
15:24
sabbath rest for the people of god
15:26
for anyone who enters god's rest also
15:30
rest from their works
15:31
just as god did from his and we need to
15:33
understand what that means
15:35
see the sabbath day was instituted to
15:37
remind the people
15:38
that everything that they were doing was
15:40
only possible because of god's provision
15:44
but they failed to recognize it it
15:45
became just something mundane
15:48
so if you truly understand everything
15:50
every day is a sabbath
15:52
because for for every day is the sabbath
15:55
day for the man that has entered the
15:57
rest of god
15:58
why because that person rests
16:01
from his works the same way god rested
16:03
from his works in creation
16:05
the lord is done with the days of
16:06
creation he's no longer doing the days
16:08
of creation
16:09
so now he's in the seventh day which i
16:12
believe is the day of redemption
16:13
so we also will enter the rest of god
16:16
have seized
16:17
and stopped doing our own thing how do
16:20
you know that you've entered the rest of
16:21
god when you stop doing your own thing
16:23
and now everything you do
16:25
is because of the word of god we no
16:27
longer live to please ourselves
16:29
but we leave to please god scripture
16:31
says that man does not leave by bread
16:33
alone but by every word that proceeds
16:35
from the mouth of god
16:36
so the rested man or woman is the person
16:39
that lives
16:40
by the commands of god we get restless
16:43
because we try to please everybody else
16:45
but god
16:46
jesus was the busiest man that ever
16:48
lived but he was
16:49
always arrested do you know why
16:52
everything he did
16:53
pleased to god because everything he did
16:56
came from god
16:56
and he said somewhere in john 14 10
17:00
do you not believe that i am in the
17:01
father and the father is in me
17:03
the words that i speak to you i do not
17:05
speak on my own authority
17:07
but the father who dwells in me does his
17:09
works and this is the rest of god
17:12
jesus lived out deuteronomy 6 5 you
17:15
shall love the lord your god with all
17:17
your heart with all your soul with all
17:18
your mind
17:20
and everything that jesus did was a
17:21
result of god
17:23
working in him because he is god
17:27
okay so the rested man is the man
17:30
that no longer lives to please x y and z
17:32
but is the man that lives
17:34
by the grace of god through the word of
17:36
god for the glory of god
17:38
that's the rested man or woman is that
17:41
you
17:42
is that me okay see where your life
17:47
if you're arrested man is a reflection
17:49
of the breath of god
17:51
this is why every day is a sabbath day
17:53
because
17:54
for the rest of person it's no longer
17:56
you you drop
17:57
everything about yourself you cease from
18:00
doing your own thing and now you live
18:02
your life
18:03
solely to please god you are completely
18:06
surrendered
18:07
to the will of god that's the rested
18:09
person
18:10
so therefore now your life at that point
18:12
is pleasing to god because he himself
18:14
is living his life through you what did
18:16
paul say i no longer live for christ
18:18
lives in me
18:19
and the life that i that i live now are
18:21
leaves by faith in the son of god who
18:23
gave him suffer from me
18:24
so that's the rested man christ in you
18:27
the hope of glory that's the rested man
18:31
a woman so now
18:35
verse 11 strive to enter the rest verse
18:38
11 says
18:38
let us therefore make every effort to
18:41
enter the arrest so that no one will
18:43
perish
18:44
by following the example of disobedience
18:47
so it seems as if the author is saying
18:50
it's up to you
18:51
to strive to enter the arrest stop
18:53
disobeying god and you will enter
18:55
but what i read here is a plea for the
18:57
mercy of god
18:58
we cannot enter the rest of god by
19:00
trying to enter
19:02
on our own terms the author is speaking
19:05
the word of god to those that will hear
19:07
it in other words if his plea
19:09
has caused you to repent in dust and
19:11
ashes
19:12
then the word of god through the lips
19:14
and pain of the writer of verse 11 has
19:16
accomplished his purpose
19:18
basically as he says those words if
19:21
those words are causing you to repent
19:23
and say lord i want to enter the arrest
19:25
i am sick and tired of
19:26
my sinful life i am sick and tired of
19:29
doing what i do
19:30
then exactly right because now you are
19:33
hearing the voice of god and is causing
19:35
fruits in your life he's producing an
19:37
action
19:37
because isaiah 55 11 says
19:40
so is my word that goes out from my
19:42
mouth it will all return to me empty
19:45
see god has intended his word for some
19:46
people and when the
19:48
the word of god goes out it accomplished
19:50
the purpose for which
19:51
god sent it so if you listen to verse 11
19:54
and he's causing you to strive to enter
19:56
the rest of god
19:57
that means god's hand is upon you
20:00
because only god can cause
20:02
someone to receive his words with grace
20:07
okay so
20:10
so if you're reading verse 11 i can say
20:12
like i said and it causes you to strive
20:14
to enter the rest of god then the spirit
20:15
of god
20:16
rests upon you because only those who
20:18
respond to the prompting of the word of
20:20
god
20:21
are sons and daughters of the living god
20:24
to make his point clear
20:26
paul or the author adds verse 12 and 13
20:28
which we read now
20:30
listen to what he says the word of god
20:32
is living for the word of god is living
20:35
and active sharper than any
20:38
double-edged sword he penetrates even to
20:40
dividing soul and spirit
20:42
joins a marrow it judges the thoughts
20:45
and attitudes of the heart
20:47
nothing in all creation is hidden from
20:49
god's sight everything is uncovered and
20:51
laid
20:52
bare before the eyes of him to whom we
20:54
must give account
20:56
so basically the word of god is alive
20:59
and active i don't even know how to
21:00
interpret
21:01
this portion correctly it is pretty much
21:04
a self-explanatory
21:06
the word of god will produce faith in
21:08
the one god has intended
21:10
to it will undo you and if if
21:13
if only if you you've been chosen by god
21:15
only those who who god whom god are
21:18
sealed
21:18
by his own will for salvation will
21:20
respond to the prompting
21:21
of the words of god and that's how
21:23
powerful the word of god is
21:25
okay so only those to whom god has
21:27
intended it will receive it
21:29
and you produce an action in those
21:31
people because that's the way god works
21:33
this is god's word this is god's own
21:36
work and this is a god's own spirit and
21:38
he does
21:39
what he wants because it is always for
21:42
the glory
21:43
of his will because he has a will that
21:47
he has prepared
21:48
he has something prepared for his glory
21:52
and and when he sends his word out it's
21:54
going to accomplish that very purpose in
21:55
the one who hears and listens and obeys
21:58
so your obedience really is a result of
22:00
the holy spirit himself
22:01
working in you to will and act according
22:03
to god's word so
22:04
you can take zero credit for anything
22:07
because everything you are able to do
22:09
when you love god you obey the word of
22:11
god you live for righteousness
22:13
all that is possible because god's
22:15
spirit himself is in you
22:16
and is working in you because that
22:18
pleases god
22:20
so god works in you and the glory comes
22:23
and goes back to god so
22:24
there's nothing that you can claim that
22:26
you can do because you kind of love god
22:28
because you you just have that desire
22:30
that desire is only possible because of
22:32
the word of god because of the spirit of
22:34
god
22:35
living in you so what can i say
22:38
are you hearing the voice of god today
22:41
or is his words
22:42
meaningless to you if you are hearing
22:44
his voice
22:45
if the word of god cuts you and leads
22:46
you to repent and believe the gospel
22:49
consider yourself blessed i'll say that
22:51
again if the word of god cuts you to the
22:54
heart
22:55
and lead you to repent and believe the
22:57
gospel
22:58
consider yourself blessed the scripture
23:00
says
23:01
blessed are those who mourn mourn over
23:04
what mourn over their sins
23:05
for they shall be comforted so i want to
23:07
end this with
23:08
romans 1 verse 16 to 32. i think it's
23:11
fitting for me to end with that verse
23:13
without passage i'm going to play it i'm
23:15
going to have the screen here but i'm
23:17
going to play in the background so you
23:18
can listen
23:19
okay so we're going to start from verse
23:21
16 of
23:22
romans 1 not ashamed of the gospel
23:24
because it is the power of god
23:26
that brings salvation to everyone who
23:29
believes
23:30
first to the jew then to the gentile
23:33
for in the gospel the righteousness of
23:35
god is revealed
23:37
a righteousness that is by faith from
23:39
first to last
23:41
just as it is written the righteous will
23:44
live
23:45
by faith the wrath of god is being
23:48
revealed from heaven against all the
23:50
godlessness and wickedness of people
23:52
who suppress the truth by their
23:54
wickedness
23:56
since what may be known about god is
23:58
plain to them because god has made it
24:00
plain to them
24:02
for since the creation of the world
24:04
god's invisible qualities
24:06
his eternal power and divine nature have
24:09
been clearly seen
24:10
being understood from what has been made
24:13
so that people
24:14
are without excuse for although they
24:17
knew god
24:18
they neither glorified him as god nor
24:20
gave thanks to him
24:22
but their thinking became futile and
24:25
their foolish hearts were darkened
24:28
although they claimed to be wise they
24:30
became
24:31
fools and exchanged the glory of the
24:34
immortal god
24:35
for images made to look like a mortal
24:37
human being and birds and
24:39
animals and reptiles therefore god gave
24:43
them over in the sinful desires of their
24:45
hearts to sexual impurity
24:47
for the degrading of their bodies with
24:49
one another
24:51
they exchanged the truth about god for a
24:54
lie
24:55
and worshiped and served created things
24:58
rather than the creator
24:59
who is forever praised amen
25:03
because of this god gave them over to
25:05
shameful lusts
25:07
even their women exchanged natural
25:09
sexual relations for unnatural ones
25:12
in the same way the men also abandoned
25:15
natural relations with women
25:17
and were inflamed with lust for one
25:19
another
25:20
men committed shameful acts with other
25:23
men
25:24
and received in themselves the due
25:25
penalty for their error
25:28
furthermore just as they did not think
25:30
it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of
25:32
god
25:33
so god gave them over to a depraved mind
25:36
so that they do what ought not to be
25:38
done
25:40
they have become filled with every kind
25:42
of wickedness evil
25:43
greed and depravity they are full of
25:46
envy
25:47
murder strife deceit and malice
25:50
they are gossips slanderers god haters
25:53
insolent arrogant and boastful
25:57
they invent ways of doing evil they
25:59
disobey their parents
26:01
they have no understanding no fidelity
26:04
no
26:04
love no mercy although they know god's
26:08
righteous decree
26:09
that those who do such things deserve
26:11
death
26:12
they not only continue to do these very
26:14
things
26:16
but also approve of those who practice
26:19
them
26:22
and this is it this is the word of god
26:24
now
26:25
this why did i give you this because i'm
26:28
showing you what happens to the person
26:30
that is now hearing the voice of god
26:31
they go from bad to worse if you look at
26:35
um verse 28 of romans 1
26:38
it shows you what happens god gave them
26:41
over to a depraved or debased mind so
26:44
that they
26:45
do what ought not to be done they have
26:47
become filled with
26:49
every kind of wickedness evil greed and
26:51
depravity
26:52
they are full of envy murder strife
26:54
deceit and malice
26:55
their gossips slanderers god haters
26:59
insolent arrogant and boastful they
27:01
invent ways of doing evil they disobey
27:03
their parents
27:04
they have no understanding no fidelity
27:07
no love no mercy
27:08
although they know god's righteous
27:10
decree that those who do such things
27:11
deserve to die
27:12
they not only continue to do these very
27:14
things but also approve of those
27:16
who practice these things so basically
27:20
this is the final destination of the
27:22
person that resists
27:24
the word of god eventually you become
27:26
numb to it
27:27
and you become desensitized so i'm
27:30
praying that that's not you
27:32
so if you're hearing the voice of god
27:33
this morning through these scriptures
27:35
please repent i should not even say
27:37
please
27:38
because you ought to be on your knees on
27:40
your face crying for the mercy of god
27:43
because his wrath is coming he's already
27:46
here have you been given over to a
27:48
debased mind
27:49
this is why i'm saying examine yourself
27:51
to see if you are in the faith
27:53
do you love the word of god do you
27:55
cherish the word of god do you love the
27:57
truth or do you resist it
27:59
if you resist it constantly my friend
28:02
you are not saved and if you are hearing
28:05
my voice is warning and this is causing
28:06
you
28:07
to tremble then please repent
28:12
because the kingdom of god is at hand
28:14
repent and believe the gospel
28:17
that's all i'm gonna say have a good day
28:19
and i'll see you next time
