Secret Prague Spots Tourists Won't Find

We're the Honest Guides of Prague and we're showing cool venues and places around our city of Prague to tourists mainly

And sometimes locals blame us and they say, well, you show this venue and then it gets packed with tourists

Just recently we showed a beautiful coffee place and a couple weeks later after we published the video

this is what it looks like when I went to have a breakfast with my mom. A disaster

So this time we're not going to tell you where the places are that we're going to show you on today's episode

We're just going to show you how cool they are and you're going to sort of have to guess. It's going to be like a game

Two hints on where we are. The first hint is that you've already seen that roof in one of our videos

And the second hint is that on the opposite side of this house is an artwork from David Czerny

a very popular artist that all you tourists know and you take pictures of his work

We're in the absolute heart of the city and I bet you anything this spot will be very popular in the summer

We're here on a colder day, that's why we're here by ourselves. And once you come here in the summer, you can even play a game of petang

To be honest, I don't know a spot in downtown Prague where you can actually play Patank

Do you know such a spot? And it's free here. Obviously, the courtyard wouldn't be perfect and awesome if it didn't have a little bistro slash coffee attached to it

Oh, look, a free coffee. What a place, man. Free coffee. If there's no leftover coffee on the table, you can actually buy it here as well for a reasonable price

And notice we covered up the name of the place to make this game even more difficult

But to give you a hint, it is named after something that built the entire country of Sweden

You can get some little snacks here and during lunchtime you can get lunch

And this may be another hint for you on where we are and it may be a shocker for maybe Americans

You can actually get beer here. Man, like anywhere in this country you can get a beer

Oh, a hospital. Yeah, sure. Want a beer? this whole time we're not uncovering the location where we are but maybe we can

because just getting in here even if you know where it is is actually quite

difficult you have to go through a reception where you have to sign in and once you get in you can register for this cart so you can avoid it the cart

is free and it kind of makes you join this elite club of people who can visit

this coffee place that sometimes it serves free coffee now we pretending like this place is some sort of a secret but we actually already talked about it on the national TV show where the host is somewhat like David Letterman would be in US Honza Kraus and he asked me like hey what are the secrets in Prague where should I go So I mentioned this place I specifically told him the location like three times and he never really understood what I meant

there he is wandering the streets of Prague looking for a coffee place and we're moving on

if you absolutely hated this game and you want to know where the places are and you want not just

three or five but you want maybe a hundred well we have that all wrapped up and ready for you on

but mainly for the amazing food, believe it or not. It is absolutely delicious. I was here yesterday

I had goulash. They always have a menu listed for the entire week, so you can walk in and see if

something you'll like. I believe it's only in Czech. So good luck but I'm sure you can use your

translator on your phone or you can just talk to the amazing chef. She's one of the reasons you

should come here. We talked to her. She's super cool and she's very grateful and very happy that she will see you

What do you eat here? I don't know the Czech classic. What is the Czech classic

For me it's Moravskan. Wrabec, guláš. And you speak English? No. You don't speak English

Good luck ordering. And don't forget, we're still playing the opposite of an escape game, sort of a treasure hunt to find this spot

And despite the fact that we showed you where it is, where is the location, it still may be quite difficult for you as a foreign tourist to get in

So consider this to be a game. Also, speaking of a fun game, we just noticed the tower on the bridge

from a completely different angle, you can suddenly see things that you normally don't see

Like that metal structure attached to it where I guess there's wires for cellular antennas

Kind of bizarre to see that. Do you think our tourists will understand that this is like the most significant

cultural heritage peace bridge that we have in our country, maybe in Europe

And it's like unbelievable that there's like a cantina next to it. I'm sure they get it

Okay, okay. One more hint. Now let's cut the game of not telling you where we are and what's the place

because this place deserves your attention and promotion from our side. It is called Old Skool, Stara Škola in Czech

and it is run by seniors for not only seniors, but also as juniors, as we were just told

Grandmas make great different pastries here, different sweets, coffee, They even knit socks that you can buy her from a specific grandma And this entire house is part of an organization that creates different events for seniors they can take part of

In the summer, you can sit outside on the patio under the beautiful trees, but the interior

is just as beautiful. Part of the reason may be that my sister co-worked on this place

My sister is a famous Czech photographer, Beth Horten, and she took these beautiful

pictures that are here of different grandmothers and grandfathers turning them partially into

superheroes. You can actually see her pictures every year because she does this exhibition called

Old School together with her friend Veronika Ruppert and you can see it on the Prague

Riverside in case of huge pictures that are hung there every year. Yep, there is an artist in our

family and it is not me. So forget about all the beautiful interior and pictures from my sister and the coffee, whatever

This is why you have to come here. Are we being too secretive about the places that we're showing you

Maybe some locals want to keep the places a secret. But I as a local will always want to show you places

Maybe the final level, the final step of this game that we play today can be that you visit all these places in one day

and I promised you it would be a nice day. A coffee in the bistro in the morning, then a lunch by the Charles Bridge
