Homemade Dill Pickles Recipe π₯πΏ
Ingredients π±π₯
2 pounds pickling cucumbers (Kirby or small cucumbers) π₯
2 cups water π₯
2 cups white vinegar πΆ
3 tablespoons pickling salt or kosher salt π§
4 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed π§
2 teaspoons dill seeds or 4-6 fresh dill sprigs πΏ
1 teaspoon black peppercorns πΆοΈ
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds (optional) πΏ
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spicy pickles) πΆοΈ

Prepare the Cucumbers π₯πͺ
Wash the cucumbers thoroughly. Trim off the blossom end (the end opposite the stem) of each cucumber, as it contains enzymes that can lead to softening.
Prepare the Brine πΆπ₯
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, vinegar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the salt is dissolved.
