Each plant will have different sunlight needs in order to thrive. Some plants do well with direct sunlight and others benefit more from indirect sunlight. There are different ways to categorize light levels for plants: Direct light: straightforwardly under the sun. Indirect light: indoors and the sun rays do not reach. Bright indirect light: exposed to light enough to cast a shadow. Middle: Not always in the sun, not always in the shadow. Succulents, geraniums, begonias, aloe vera, and hibiscus, for example, thrive in direct sunlight. But ferns, bamboo, orchids, and philodendrons do better with indirect light. So, pick your plants based on the sunlight you can provide, or move them around as needed to help them get the light they need.
