What does 100,000 subscribers actually mean?
For me, it’s not about numbers or cheap dopamine from likes. The real meaning is knowing these conversations are reaching people who might not otherwise have access to mental health education.
This milestone is just a reminder of the mission: making knowledge about being human more accessible to everyone.

It's like it sucks us in and then it
0:02
becomes more meaningful to us because
0:04
it's it's cheap dopamine. I remember
0:06
that happening to me and then I realized
0:08
I need to just like not really bother
0:11
with that. I will pay attention to the
0:13
comments and I do very much respond to
0:16
those personally, but I just couldn't
0:18
stick with that. I have a client that is
0:20
also in this space and we were talking
0:23
about this milestone coming up. I said,
0:25
"I think we're going to hit 100,000
0:27
subscribers." And and he he always asks
0:29
about how the show is doing and things.
0:31
And um I said and he said, you know, he
0:33
was envious or or whatever about that.
0:35
And I said, "What does it mean? What
0:37
does it mean that I'm going to do that?"
0:38
And he's like, "That successful." And I
0:40
was like, "And what does that mean?"
0:42
>> You know, and he said, "Well, like that
0:44
you did something and a lot of people,
0:46
you know, resonated with it." And I
0:47
said, "Well, I think, you know, I heard
0:48
Ryan Holidayiday say something about
0:50
this and it was like, am I doing
0:52
something that matters to me? are some
0:54
people benefiting from it and I can
0:57
control those two things and am I still
0:58
enjoying it? And if if those things are
1:01
part of what what motivates me and the
1:04
rest is out of my control then it
1:05
doesn't really matter because it doesn't
1:07
mean anything different about me or who
1:09
I am. It might open up additional
1:12
opportunities but and he was kind of
1:14
quiet and he goes that's true. I said do
1:16
I do I seem any different to you that
1:17
that number might happen on my YouTube
1:19
channel? He was like no not at all. And
1:21
I said, "Exactly." And you know about
1:23
you either. It's just like a hashmark.
1:25
And so we, you know, we had a neat
1:27
conversation about that. It it doesn't
1:29
really mean anything. I mean, what I
1:31
think it means to me is I've been dis
1:33
disciplined. I've been consistent. I've
1:36
shown up on days when I don't want to do
1:37
this or when I, you know, I'm like
1:39
writing shows. I've been a witness to
1:41
those days and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, I
1:43
need to go be on and I've been on all
1:44
week and things like that in order to
1:46
film." But it's like you need to just do
1:48
it to remain consistent. And it was a
1:50
goal that I set to myself. I said I
1:52
wanted to do, you know, shows weekly and
1:54
I wanted to make sure that I had a
1:56
consistent presence because I don't
1:58
think anything turns out well with a
2:00
lack of discipline and consistency. And
2:02
and I think that's really what this has
2:04
been about has been a little bit of a
2:05
personal goal to have that. And then I
2:08
hear things in sessions like today I
2:10
heard something in a session. And I was
2:11
like, I'm going to do a show about that.
2:12
Because it was just, we spent like 15
2:14
minutes on the concept of pressure and
2:16
perfectionism and where we needed to
2:17
adapt to learn that. And I was like,
2:19
that's a show. I need to write a show
2:20
about that. So then, of course, my
2:22
wheels get turning and I want to
2:23
continue to come up with content that
2:25
could be beneficial. And I know that so
2:27
many of us struggle with the concept of
2:29
perfectionism. And I'm like, I didn't do
2:31
a show about that yet. I need to do
2:32
that. So that's just what happens. I get
2:35
excited and like people need to learn.
2:38
That's too big a burden and armor to
2:39
carry. we need to like improve our, you
2:42
know, stance with putting down those
2:44
those shields. And so, yeah,
2:47
>> thank you. I think it's really that's
2:49
emblematic of the altruism that you
2:52
bring to the show and the time, talent,
2:55
energy that you put into it. A lot of
2:57
preparation, a lot of money, a lot of
2:59
time, like all of this stuff. And you
3:02
know, you mentioned Ryan Holidayiday and
3:04
I remember thinking when we recently
3:06
went to go see him, you know, talking
3:08
about
3:09
>> love,
3:09
>> moral courage, right? Like, you know,
3:12
years ago, you you've put yourself out
3:14
there to say, "I'm going to subject
3:16
>> my thoughts, opinions, my wisdom out
3:19
there." So, you've had that moral
3:21
courage, uh, clearly the discipline to
3:24
stick with it,
3:25
>> right,
3:25
>> for several years now. Uh I would even
3:29
maybe talk about justice in that
3:31
altruism and that fairness and making
3:33
sure that you know you're a very highly
3:37
skilled clinician. Not everybody gets
3:40
access to you and this is a way that you
3:42
know you've been able to ensure justice
3:45
by making sure that this is accessible
3:47
content
3:48
>> that is not just relatable right but
3:51
common like we all go through these
3:52
things you're talking about being human.
3:54
Uh and then lastly, sharing your wisdom.
3:56
Right? This is been hard fought,
3:59
hardearned. Uh you're so highly
4:02
qualified and and learned and educated
4:05
in so many different modalities. Uh it's
4:08
really beautiful how you bring it all
4:10
together.
4:10
>> Thank you. I appreciate that.
4:13
>> I just do it. And then when you say
4:15
things like that, I find myself kind of
4:17
like, that's nice. He's talking nice
4:20
about me in front of a lot of people.
4:23
I am a fan, but with all due
4:26
objectivity, she's a badass.
4:28
>> That's very kind.
4:30
>> You're a badass.
4:31
>> Very kind.
4:32
>> So, now that we talked about, you know,
4:35
and kind of going back into this 100,000
4:38
subscribers,
4:39
relaunching into season 3,
4:42
>> building a studio, so that I think for
4:44
us it's it's not that it's an
4:46
accomplishment, it's not that it's
4:47
success, it's clearly a milestone,
4:50
>> right?
4:51
But to me, experiment complete.
4:55
>> You know, we tried this thing and you
4:57
know, you've iterated and been adaptable
5:00
and at this point it's like this is
5:02
working. We're getting to people. You're
5:04
getting the message out to people.
5:06
>> And so when you think about season 3,
5:10
>> what do you have planned for us?
5:11
>> Well, I'm really excited to have more
5:14
consistency in my schedule so that I can
5:17
plan further out for more guests. I have
5:19
a lot of people that I'm very interested
5:21
in having on the show that are, you
5:24
know, far more educated, far more
5:26
experienced, and have a lot more
5:28
diversified like variety for us to bring
5:31
to the show. And and there's so many
5:33
things that I can be excited to learn
5:34
about and to share with the audience
5:36
about. And so I think the main thing is
5:39
having, you know, way more guests to
5:41
interview and to have the ability and
5:43
the capacity to plan around only me and
5:45
my availability to set those dates in
5:47
motion. And then that way I can make
5:49
sure that it happens because I was
5:50
relying on so many other um variables
5:53
with other producers and other locations
5:55
and things like that to to film. And now
5:57
this is just like me being able to
6:00
determine when does it work for me and I
6:01
can plan out and then I can prioritize
6:03
it and it doesn't have to get
6:04
interrupted by any other thing that I
6:05
can't control. So I'm excited about that
6:07
for sure.
6:08
>> Yeah. And I think I want to be a little
6:10
more playful. I want to, you know, ask
6:13
Yeah. I have, you know, in my own
6:15
pursuit of excellence and having a high
6:18
bar for myself, especially because of
6:20
how seriously I take this topic. I think
6:22
that I've wanted to do the concepts
6:25
justice. And I think with that comes a
6:28
fair amount of, you know, research,
6:30
diligence, and seriousness because
6:32
they're pretty serious topics. And I try
6:34
to bring levity to the conversation. But
6:36
I but I also have a fun side. I have a
6:39
playful side and a sarcastic side and
6:42
and all of those other attributes of my
6:44
personality that I don't share a lot in
6:46
this
