Behind this barn door is something Denny never thought he would ever see again
0:05
Denny would always take his prize 1959 Edsel Ranger to the yearly car show
0:12
The one thing he looks forward to every year, and that car was one that my late uncle rode with him in to the car show
0:19
and spent a lot of time with him working on it. I worked on it with him a lot when I was a kid, too
0:25
So there's just a lot of memories. My sisters remember riding in it
0:30
just out having fun every Sunday or something. But he had to sell the car to support his family during a time of need
0:39
Yeah, the economy wasn't doing too good. And my parents were having a little bit of a tough time
0:45
So he had to choose to sell what he could to that would bring the most money
0:52
And that was the car. And he really didn't want to sell it, but that was the only option
0:57
So he ended up letting it go. But he didn't want to forget about it
1:03
So he framed photos of the car with his late brother and put them up all around his office
1:09
And his family didn't want him to forget about it either. I finally found it in 2018 I believe it was And I got the gentleman number and spoke with him and he really didn want to part ways with it So he kept my information and jotted down a couple little notes
1:31
And after he passed away, his wife found the note and my number and remembered the story
1:38
And she called me, and I got with my mom and my sisters and brother-in-law's and my wife
1:45
We all came together and decided that was what we needed to do is get the car back for dad
1:49
So for his 67th birthday, they did get that car back for dad
1:54
Haddy, go get Papa his card. The grandchildren each handed him a card that altogether read
2:01
Can we go for a ride, Papa? So Denny thought he was getting a riding lawnmower
2:07
But then... We got out of love
2:20
We got out love. Can I get that trams in now? My head's so fat
3:05
And that's it. So has your dice. It's really hoping for a Cizzo
3:19
Oh, man, thanks, everyone. This is nuts. I mean, we thought he'd be surprised
3:25
but we didn't think of knocked the wind out of him. I feel like he was in shock for several days after
3:42
That's it. The hole in the headlundered Fifteen years later there was again
4:21
Fifteen years later, there it was again, and it was again, and it was a
4:25
more than just a car. It was a lifetime of memories. And now, something that'll create even more
4:35
He's enjoyed taking the grandkids on rides and it just like he took us for a ride because he didn't have it
4:43
You know, when these kids were born, it was long gone when all six of the grandkids came around
4:50
So I think he's catching up on some time with them, taking them to get ice cream
4:55
just taking them for rides, been to several car shows with it, and I just think he's just really
5:00
enjoying the conversations and everything around the car
