Max Park shatters the Rubik's Cube world record

What just happened? Max just broke the world record. The atmosphere was electric

Everybody knew that he broke the record and I think partially everybody was in shock

It's a record that has been long standing for four and a half years by Yusheng Du's 347

I'm not sure anybody thought that that record was ever going to be broken. The cubing world has been nothing short of ecstatic

I think everybody was really waiting to see who was going to break that 3x347 record

When Max did it, I think everybody was very, very happy for him

It's really exciting anytime anybody breaks a record. But for the 3x3 single, it's sort of like the creme de la creme

When that gets broken, I think the whole cubing community knows. Additionally, I think a lot of people that aren't in the cubing community were generally really surprised and very excited

A lot of Max's fans from the Netflix documentary, they all reached out, emailed him or texted him

They were very, very happy for him. A few people said that they even cried

Basically, Max's cubing career started to help him with his fine motor skills

because he had fine motor skill problems as a young kid with autism

When he was 7, 8, 9 years old, he couldn't hold pennies or he couldn't open up a water bottle

I mean, he couldn't do anything with his fingers. The cube itself was just something that was going to be an exercise

We decided to go there and exploit the cubing community for social reasons

So we could work on Max's social cues. The second competition he ever went to, he won the 6x6, which really took us all by surprise

When you actually see the final podium, there's these two guys that look like they're in college and here's little Max

He's like literally four feet underneath them. The cubing, actually being good at cubing or solving cubes or the competitive aspect

was never a component for us to get Max involved with. Yes
