In 1973 Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote the song "Candle In The Wind" in honor of the legendary Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe, who died 11 years earlier. Taupin said in an interview that the song is about fame, youth, and somebody's life being cut short in the prime of their life.
