So I'm hearing rumours that things are looking good in terms of adapting this story for the big
0:05
three. It is bubbling away. One of the most prominent producers in Hollywood is very interested
0:09
is that right? More than interested, yeah. This is Heart90s, I'm Kevin Hughes. It's an
0:16
absolute honour and privilege to welcome Geri Halliwell Horner to this show and this studio
0:20
When I read the headline, Geri Halliwell Horner is a New York Times top 10 bestseller again
0:24
with your second book in the Rosie Frost trilogy. You have always wanted to do this
0:29
Am I saying that? Oh my God, always. But I've always loved storytelling. You know, obviously you know me through the music
0:35
And for me, that was storytelling, but that was just in a coffee shot
0:39
Do you absolutely love waking up knowing that you have got to tell
0:43
you need to tell her story? You have hours to spend to develop this character
0:46
because this is book two of three. Yeah. But it's, you know, you put the hours in
0:50
I wouldn't say love. I'd say it's painful. Do you know what I mean? The truth is, writing is sort of like an itch
0:57
that you go, it's like an anxiety that I know it's all bubbling inside of me
1:02
And until I've put it down, then I go, and then once you've done it
1:06
it's like getting the cake in the oven. And then you go, there you go. When you hand it over, you go, your shoulders drop
1:12
But when I'm feeling that at the moment, I can feel my shoulders rising
1:16
because I want to get, I'm preparing for number three. But it is a process
1:21
It's sort of love and hate at the same time. You're writing number three right now
1:25
Yeah. and do you know how the book is going to end do you know where it all goes
1:29
pretty much I always knew how it's going to end because those who don't know
1:34
fans of the book will obviously know that obviously at the end of book one bit of a cliffhanger
1:38
so we pick up with Rosie's mum she finds out her mum was murdered
1:42
I would say it's fast paced action adventure but also it's looking at the humanness in us
1:50
that sometimes even the best of us there a little bit there the worst and even in the worst of us there a little bit of good so i hearing rumors that things are looking good in terms of adapting this story for the big screen and i know you can say too much yeah but this is bubbling away is that right
2:06
it is bubbling away and it's some exciting developments um uh are happening and i'm very
2:14
yeah i look forward to sharing them with you one of the most prominent producers in hollywood is
2:18
very interested is that right more than interested yeah you get a movie made would you like to have
2:26
a cameo in your own film would you also like to record the theme song to the film it's funny i've
2:30
recorded music for rosie already yeah um when i was first writing her and i did a whole mood board
2:39
and there was there was a character that i thought oh yeah i could play her because i've done acting
2:43
and I really, I do like it. You're very good. Thank you very much
2:49
But now I'm like, oh, I think I'm going to have to play someone a bit older than that
2:54
because time has gone on since I've started. So, yeah, but who knows? We'll see
3:01
I've noticed you're not saying no, so this is good. We'll see. Never say never
3:05
I always think, if it's right, when I first started writing Rosie Frost
3:09
and I could see her, but I hadn't quite nailed it, and I was showing it to a few publishers
3:15
and different people and I was getting negative feedback, right? And like, no, not quite, no
3:21
But I thought, no, I'm not just doing this because I want to write
3:25
I'm of service. I feel like this is for anyone that wants to find their courage
3:31
that feels ostracized or bullied. This is for them. So it's of service to them
3:37
Even though it's wrapped in chocolate and it's really fun and brilliant storyline
3:41
that's exciting actually it's for them and it sort of pushes me through so be of service has
3:48
been an amazing like gas in my tank so to speak you will inspire so many people hearing you say that for whatever it is you want to do in life i think no matter how old you are you didn take that no
4:00
you went forward no i i think those rejections those challenges are our qualifiers so whether
4:07
you're 50 70 or 25 or 14 whatever your challenges whatever your chapter is it's like you know what
4:16
step up, go for it. Go for it. Talked as well about your wonderful daughter, Bluebell
4:21
who's studying English literature. So she must give you feedback. Kids can be, Arjun and Ararat are so honest
4:29
I just like asking her opinion. I would say she's, I mean, I'm so proud of her
4:36
and she's got a brilliant sense of humour as well. So it's always lovely to get that
4:42
She's really supportive. And there's been quite a few people I know notice you talk about their favorite characters that support her support rosie in the book otterly
4:49
i know you love dearly but we do notice that there are five there's a group of five around her
4:56
that number is always within especially within your life and career i made the observation but
5:01
i think it's actually a natural number that you have in a group um and you take pieces of different
5:07
people you can't help it like it's it's almost like being a magician or a chef that you go okay
5:14
I would take that piece there's a girl called Bina and she's
5:19
she has an Iranian background and likes wrestling and 90s music actually
5:27
but that's you know I've taken maybe I don't want to give anonymity
5:31
I want to keep anonymity but there's a little bit of someone a really bright girl with someone else
5:36
Otterly's got a little bit of someone in there and you just like
5:40
slay you but I'd like to think this like wealth of characters in this book you find yourself 100 million percent you will find yourself in there and you go okay that me Do you relate to people who try and make the parallel to the girls
5:59
to the Spice Girls, and find character traits within those? Someone said that the other day
6:03
There's a little bit of something in there, because there's a little bit of
6:07
we're all more alike than different, aren't we? Yeah. You know, we all want to feel connected, to belong
6:15
We all feel fear. We all, you know, have that hope. I think that's natural no matter who we are
6:22
I see you as being a bit fearless though, Geri Hallowell-Horner. I see you as that person. No, I think courage isn't the absence of fear
6:30
You know, I always think, oh, I wonder, you know, you can have those thoughts
6:35
but I suppose the difference is I go, okay, thank you for sharing, get back fear
6:41
And then I'm going on despite the fear. I think that's the difference
6:45
Geri, so good to have you on the show today thank you so much for your time
6:49
thank you so much for having me and a big hello and sending love to everyone listening
6:54
and I'm so grateful, you know, for your love and support and yeah, a big kutch
7:00
oh, absolutely, we love you for that listen, I'm going to play a certain single right now

7:09
